MASTER OF SCIENCE IN
BIOINFORMATICS ABOUT THE PROGRAM
A joint offering of the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering This innovative program prepares students for success by drawing from the strengths of Johns Hopkins’ Biotechnology and Engineering programs to create a comprehensive Bioinformatics curriculum.
The program integrates computer science, biosciences, and bioinformatics disciplines. Students complete 11 courses for the degree: five core courses, four concentration courses, a bioscience elective and a computer science elective.
FLEXIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITIES
Designed for working adults, the program offers courses conveniently online and onsite. Students can elect to complete the degree entirely online. Onsite courses are taught during evenings or weekends at the Homewood campus in Baltimore, MD; the Montgomery
County Campus in Rockville, MD; or Applied Physics Laboratory in Columbia, MD. Students have up to five years to complete their degree. Typically, students working full-time complete the degree in two years.
