As the dean of the John Hazen White College of Arts & Sciences, I am thrilled to welcome you to our academic community.

Our support network of dedicated faculty and staff is here to help you on this journey. Our faculty are mentors who are ready to guide you to academic and professional success. They are practitioners, excited to see you apply what you will learn in our specialized spaces, such as the Center for Media Production. Our professors are compassionate and eager to partner with you as you navigate the twists and turns – and inevitable bumps in the road – of your college career, from your first day of class through graduation and beyond.

JWU’s lab spaces and facilities are not your traditional classrooms. They are designed to fuel your curiosity and professional development by simulating real-world environments and offering cutting-edge technology and equipment. Though every space on our campus is available to students in every college, a favorite for Arts & Sciences students is the Center for Media Production.

My name is Evan, and I’m majoring in media & communication. It’s hard to believe I’m already a senior, but I couldn’t be more grateful for the community I’ve found and the opportunities that have come from my time at JWU.
The people and professors I’ve met along the way while studying media and playing for the men’s soccer team are now lifelong friends and family. The positive and tight-knit community here has helped me build so much confidence and grow into the person I want to be. The experiences and education I’ve had at JWU give me the confidence to take the next steps in life after graduation.
One piece of advice I’ll give you is to embrace what makes you who you are, and put yourself out there. Do the things you want to do with confidence, and you’ll attract the people and lifestyle you want. Try new things and savor the memories. The time will fly — don’t let it pass, live every moment of it!
