Wildcat not just a noun, but a state of mind.

1. An Old World cat (Felis silvestris), a fierce cat who thrives in the wild.

2. A person of character who takes pride in their work and has the courage to pursue new experiences.

3. A passionate learner who gains professional experience through internships and course projects for real clients.

4. A student who learns from professors with industry experience and strong networks.

5. A college graduate with the practical knowledge and skills they need to achieve their career goals.

WHO WE ARE

“The hands-on aspect is what I feel makes the Psychology program thrive, as well as the small classes. You are able to get to know your classmates very well and build a community that supports everyone.”

On FeetYour Learn

In many JWU courses, you’ll learn through hands-on projects, actually doing the work of the discipline. Small class sizes, innovative lab spaces and mentorship from professors make it possible to engage in real-world work immediately.

HOW WE STUDY

Your lessons will be in our hands-on learning labs, but they can also come in the form of working with local companies, teaming up with students from other majors on collaborative projects, visiting sustainable farms or even traveling around the world to study abroad. Experiential education is what we’re known for — and we’ve perfected it.

Ask the

(Industry)

Experts

JWU professors come with years of experience and are often still active in their industries. Their credentials and expertise make them great teachers, but what sets them apart is their willingness to go the extra mile, act as a trusted mentor and share their stories and professional networks with you.

“My professors have done a great job of preparing me for an internship and future career. They’re so supportive. They know me as a person, so they’ve made that transition very easy for me and I appreciate them for that. Overall, JWU has helped me improve my communication skills. I’m sharpening my tools and getting prepared for the real world.”

“Not only do you get to further your education while living with classmates and friends, but you get to live near the highly-sought after location of Uptown Charlotte. Safety is also very important, and when you have a safe and comfortable living environment like this, you are sure to excel in your education!”

Room to Roam

The city that surrounds our campus will also become your home. As a JWU student, you’ll live on campus for the first three years of study, allowing you to experience the best of Charlotte in a close-knit community. Take a stroll and you’ll discover just how much there is to do right outside your door. You can catch a concert or a Carolina Panthers game at Bank of America Stadium, take in the murals and galleries in the NoDa area or enjoy the beautiful greenspace of Romare Bearden Park. Charlotte will be yours to explore.

Throughout my journey at JWU, I have played two sports, joined several clubs, participated in many events held on campus, gotten a job and plenty more. Regardless of how you decide to engage yourself throughout your years here, you will have a blast because there is something for everyone!

Meet your People

Student clubs and organizations, varsity athletics and intramural sports offer the perfect chance to explore new interests, continue existing hobbies and — most importantly — meet cool people.

It’s easy to get involved from the moment you arrive at JWU. In the first week of fall classes, all clubs, organizations and teams recruit new members at the Student Involvement Fest.
