St. Fagans Natural History Museum

Explore one of Europe’s leading open air museums and Wales’ most popular heritage attractions. Over 40 original buildings from different historical buildings have been re-erected in the 100 acre parkland; among them houses, a farm, a school, a chapel and a splendid Workmen’s Institute. Traditional crafts and activities bring St Fagans alive, in workshops where craftsmen still demonstrate their traditional skills.
Upton on Severn and Tewkesbury

Upton on Severn used to be a port, as well as the only river crossing for many miles. Today, there is a flourishing marina on the east bank, and Upton’s historic prosperity can be seen in its variety of delightful old buildings, including pleasant places to eat and drink and a wealth of shops. Tewkesbury is an extraordinary riverside town. The Abbey has been at the centre of the town’s history for centuries and continues to play an important role today. The John Moore Museum is a nature lovers dream, the origins of the Old Baptist Chapel and Court date back more than 500 years and a market has been held in Tewkesbury for centuries, a tradition which continues today.

Llandudno

Llandudno is known as ‘Queen of the Welsh Resorts’, and is the largest seaside resort in Wales. There is a wealth of attractions including the longest pier in Wales, a cable car and funicular tramway and of course the beautiful Victorian promenade curving between the bay between the Great Orme and the Little Orme.
Lynton and Lynmouth

We set down in Lynmouth, with its picturesque harbour - linked to the twin village of Lynton by a cliff railway, here the more active travellers may wish to explore the Valley of the Rocks which is noted for its herds of wild goats, buzzards, geology and stunning views.

St. Albans

St Albans was the third largest city in Roman Britain. The Verulamium Museum unravels the districts rich history, with some of the finest roman mosaics outside the Mediterranean. The beautiful 11th century St Albans Cathedral on the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in England, stands proudly in the city centre. There is also a museum and gallery, historic Charter Market where you can browe over 150 stalls, and a 100 acre park.
Liverpool

Liverpool is most famous for its shipping history, perhaps take a cruise on the River Mersey or why not visit one of the many museums. The Albert Dock area offers an interesting array of waterfront shops and cafes. The Tate Gallery, Maritime Museum and the Beatles Story are all found here (admission not included).
Marlborough and Lacock

Marlborough High Street is one of the widest in the UK and lined on both sides with characterful old buildings housing an array of high quality shops. Merlin’s Mound is reputedly the burial place of the wizard Merlin. Lacock is a village lost in time on the southern edge of the Cotswolds.
Weston-super-Mare

The classic seaside destination! Weston-super-Mare is a traditional seaside resort with attractive parks and everything else you would expect for a great day out. Perhaps visit the Grand Pier, with its selection of rides and amusements or simply stroll along the spacious level promenade enjoying the views of the Bristol Channel.

Newark and Boundary Mill Grantham

Newark is a thriving, picturesque market town with many heritage attractions and bustling weekly market. Famed for its role in the English Civil War, one of the towns main attractions is Newark Castle or perhaps visit the National Civil War Centre. As well as the market there are also plenty of antique and vintage shops to explore. We finish the afternoon at Boundary Outlet Grantham, offering great brands at discounted prices including Whistles, Radley London, Regatta and Pavers.

Brighton

Stylish Brighton has all the ingredients for seaside fun, from the bustling Palace Pier to a stroll along the prom. Explore the Brighton i360 - the world’s tallest, moving observation tower, admire the aquatic creatures at the Sea Life Centre or simply relax on the beach. There is also an impressive Royal Pavilion and the boutiques and antique shops of the quaint Lanes as well as a range of modern stores.
Bridgend McArthur Glen and Barry Island

Barry is the backdrop to many of the iconic scenes in the BBC’s award winning TV show, Gavin and Stacey and has a host of attractions, lots of them on the small peninsular known as Barry Island. Telford

Telford has an award winning park to explore with large play areas, water play, gardens, high ropes course, adventure golf and disc golf. Close by you will find Telford Wonderland and Telford Exotic Zoo. The Telford Centre is a shoppers paradise with 160 stores and the park is connected to the centre by Southwater, the cultural and leisure quarter with restaurants, IMAX Cinema, Ice Rink, Bowling Alley and inflatable theme park. Clacton-on-Sea

English Riviera Air Show

Torbay’s natural amphitheatre provides a unique and stunning location for the English Riviera Air Show. The flying program is yet to be announced but be sure to be enthralled by the displays in the air and on the ground, coupled with live music and fairground rides.
Moreton in Marsh and Bourton on the Water

We visit one of the principal market towns in the Cotswolds, with over 300 stalls selling a wide range of goods. Pretty Bourton is situated on the River Windrush, and is known as Little Venice and has a variety of attractions including model village, Birdland, Motor Museum.

Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton

Exmouth is one of the oldest and most picturesque seaside towns in Devon. The town is the gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and has two miles of sandy beach. It is where the River Exe meets the sea and has a range of shops to explore amongst the regency architecture. Budleigh Salterton remains one of Devon’s unspoilt and charming towns, from the gently flowing brook in the high street, museum and friendly cafes and shops, to the two mile pebble and sand beach, it has so much to offer visitors.
Dartmouth

Dartmouth was quoted in the Domesday book as being an agricultural settlement. It grew rapidly once it became strategically important as a deep water port for sailing vessels. Why not take a boat trip around the harbour and learn the history of the port, or stroll through the Royal Avenue Gardens and watch the steam trains go by across the river.

New Quay and Aberaeron

New Quay is a picturesque seaside town on the Cardigan Bay coas of West Wales. It was once a flourishing ship-building centre and fishing port and today the small local fishing and pleasure craft still come and go in the sheltered bay. Enjoy a walk along the front to the end of the Quay and watch the boats sail by or sit in one of the cafes overlooking the harbour and spot dolphins. Aberaron is a charming Georgian port town with brightly painted houses. Enjoy a stroll around the harbour along Quay Parade or perhaps enjoy a boat trip. There are many charming shops to browse including the Aberaeron Craft Centre.
Chippenham, Castle Combe and Corsham

Chippenham is nestled on the banks of the River Avon, with a colourful street market held on a Friday. Castle Combe is a quintessentially English village often named as ‘the prettiest village in England’. Corsham is a hidden gem, but star of film and TV, notably Poldark, and whilst very English, slightly exotic - peacocks regally wander its streets.
Hunstanton

Hunstanton is an elegant resort, the only west facing resort on the east coast. It retains Victorian charm and character and has buzzing family activities such as crazy golf and pitch and putt. To the tranquil Esplanade Gardens to wander. There is an excellent sandy beach and rock pools to explore.
Weymouth

The great sweep of Weymouth Bay encompasses a superb vista of land and sea. The views from the bay are spectacular, stretching across the horizon taking in the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. Weymouth’s fine Georgian seafront is an impressive backdrop to the Blue Flag award winning beaches and the seafront is connected by over three miles of level promenade which provides access to the beach, the historic harbour and a traffic free shopping centre.
Bala and Barmouth

We stop at Bala for a break, an historic market town in the Snowdonia National Park. The rivers Tryweryn and Dee flow either side of Bala, creating Bala Lake, Wales’ largest natural lake. We continue to Barmouth, on the West Coast of North Wales and lying between a mountain range and the sea on the mouth of the River Mawddach. It is arguable one of the most beautiful locations in Wales. The Old Town is worth a visit, the harbour is beautiful and you can walk across the spectacular Barmouth Bridge which spans the river. The beach is long and sandy and there is a range of shops, cafes, a funfair and amusement arcades.
Rhyl or Llandudno

Rhyl is a vibrant hub of activity, with plenty of family fun with amusements and arcades. There is a sandy beach, Seaquarium, miniature railway and marine lake. Llandudno is known as ‘Queen of the Welsh Resorts’, with the longest pier in Wales, good town centre shopping, funicular railway and beautiful, sweeping promenade.
Criccieth and Pwhelli - The Llyn Peninsula

First to Criccieth, a beautiful seaside resort town where the castle dominates the skyline. We continue to Pwhelli, the main market town and unofficial capital of the Llyn Peninsula, where Wednesday is weekly market day, with around 50 stalls. Perhaps wander around the marina and harbour, independent shops and blue flag, south facing beach.
Burnham on Sea and Brean

With one of the longest sandy beaches in Europe, landmarks steeped in history, and a rich tapestry of family activities, Burnham on Sea offers something for everyone. Originally a fishing village, the iconic Low Lighthouse is the last of three active lighthouses in Burnham on Sea, and it has the shortest pier in Britain. Brean is home to the beautiful sandy beach, known as Brean Sands, an 1860s fort, and the Brean Leisure Park.
Torquay or Paignton

Torquay has been one of the top holiday destinations since Victorian times. Head for the waterfront, with palm lined promenade, sea front gardens, lively harbour and international marina. Visit the Living Coasts attraction, stroll along the pier, or stretch out on one of the fabulous beaches. The lively seaside town of Paignton is part of the beautiful area known as the ‘English Riviera’. Famous for its long, sandy, paddle friendly waters and a colourful, bustling pier, the town offers a lot more level walking than that of neighbouring Torquay. Two of the town’s main highlights include Paignton Zoo and the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway.

Skegness or Ingoldmells

Skegness is the biggest resort town on the ‘Fun Coast’ and has been a premier holiday destination for over a hundred years. You’ll find that there is so much to do that its difficult to know where to start - The seal sanctuary and animal centre, museums, crazy golf, fun fairs and shopping not to mention the beautifully landscaped foreshore, award winning beach, compass Gardens and the colourful tower Gardens. Just up the coast, Ingoldmells has Fantasy Island, an indoor theme park, or the vast market to browse.
Aberystwyth via Devil’s Bridge

We travel via Devil’s Bridge to Aberystwyth, in the middle of the rugged Ceredigion coastline. One of the biggest towns in mid wales, with plenty of independent shops and boutiques, a mile long promenade with the oldest pier in Wales, Castle ruins, Iron Age hillfort, Arts Centre and Camera Obscura, accessible by the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway, the longest cliff railway in Britain.
City of York

This magnificent city has something for everyone, including the remnants of the city walls, the Shambles, and the impressive Minster. There are some great attractions including the Railway Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre, Castle Museum and York Dungeons to name but a few.

Mumbles and the Gower

Our scenic route takes us via the North Gower coastline and Cefn Bryn with picturesque views to Rhossili. Our drive includes time for sightseeing and lunch (not included) in Rhossili followed by an afternoon stop in the seaside resort of Mumbles.

Lyme Regis and Bridport

Lyme Regis boasts breath-taking scenery and a special mystique, making it a sparkling resort for all seasons. Its historic Cobb and harbour are iconic features, set against moody blue cliffs. (Access to the town and promenade from the coach park is via a steep incline or 114 steps). Bridport is an attractive and lively market town, often referred to as the ‘Gateway Town to the Jurassic Coast’, with over 1000 listed buildings and a museum to explore.
Whitby Regatta

Visit one of the North East coast’s best loved seaside towns. Explore the cobbled streets which run down to the bustling quayside and award winning beach and perhaps visit the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, The Dracula Experience, The Whitby Museum or buy some famous Whitby Jet. The Whitby Regatta presents a weekend of entertainment, embracing yacht racing, rowing races and various free forms of entertainment.
Blackpool Air Show

Watch planes both classic and modern take to the skies in Blackpool’s brilliant air show. Gasp at spectacular wing walkers and admire some beautiful flying machines from the past and present. Spend time enjoying the seaside destination with its many attractions including the iconic Blackpool Tower, the Pleasure Beach and spectacular promenade and piers.
Bridlington

Bridlington is situated on the East Coast of Yorkshire with glorious clean beaches, pre-roman harbour and characterful old town. For history buffs you can explore the beautiful Augustinian Priory, Bayle Museum and Harbour Heritage Museum. For traditional entertainment try the funfair, kids corner and donkey rides. On the edge of town is Sewerby Hall and Gardens, featuring a museum, children’s zoo, pitch and putt, craft units and tea rooms. For something a little different visit John Bull’s Sweet Factory.
Tenby

Tenby is a delightful little harbour town and seaside resort, it would be difficult to find a setting more picturesque. Its old town walls still remain, enclosing the medieval town behind them, and the quaint narrow streets are full of interesting little shops and cafes which lead to the harbour. From here you can take a boat trip to Caldey Island, home to a working monastery, or enjoy the golden beaches.
Penarth, Barry and Glamorgan Heritage Coast

We enjoy our first stop of Penarth, an elegant seaside resort with Victorian Pier, charming Esplanade and modern Marina. We continue down the coast to Barry, well known as the backdrop to TV’s Gavin and Stacey, and continue along the Heritage Coast, through Llantwit Major to Ogmore by Sea.

Sidmouth

A seaside resort ‘par excellence’, Sidmouth nestles beneath the majestic red cliffs and green hills of the sublime surrounding countryside. The unspoilt esplanade and town have a timeless charm and elegance that is preserved from times past. Pleasant walks run into the neighbouring bay or up to the tea rooms of the delightful cliff-top Connaught Gardens and of course there’s great shopping too.
Porthcawl

Situated on a low limestone headland on the impressive Glamorgan Heritage Coastline, Porthcawl is a traditional seaside resort overlooking the Bristol Channel. With its level promenade, stunning blue flag beach, funfair and a host of seaside attractions, shops and cafes, it is a resort often overlooked, but none the less a popular destination.

Ilfracombe

Surrounded by the cliffs of the North Devon coast, Ilfracombe offers many fine and award winning beaches, including the unique Tunnels Beaches. Other attractions include the fascinating Ilfracombe Museum, Ilfracombe Aquarium, Leisure Park, Sea Safaris and Chambercombe Manor, one of Britain’s most haunted houses. The town centre has an excellent selection of independent shops and the town is gaining a reputation as a centre for arts and crafts.
Shaftesbury, Gold Hill and Salisbury

Shaftesbury is one of the oldest towns in the country, with thatched cottages, quaint tea shops and a fascinating history. It’s most famous landmark is picturesque Gold Hill, famous after featuring in the 1970’s TV advert for Hovis. Shaftesbury Abbey Museum and Gardens tells the story of the Benedictine Abbey destroyed in Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries. Salisbury cathedral is where you will find the best preserved of four original Magna Carta, and nearby Cathedral Close houses attractions like Monpesson House, the Rifles Military Museum and Salisbury Museum. The historic streets are filled with high street stores and independent retailers.
Dunster and Minehead

Dunster is one of the most popular places on Exmoor. It is a medieval village with an ancient castle, priory, dovecote, yarn market, pack-horse bridge and a mill. Since the decline of the woollen industry in the 18th century the village has been locked in a time warp. There is a plethora of tea shops and gift shops and over 200 listed buildings. We continue to Minehead where Exmoor meets the sea. Sitting on the very edge of the National Park, Minehead offers traditional seaside fun with its promenade and long sandy beach, and pebble beach near the harbour.

Borough Market, South Bank and the Sky Garden

We head for London’s Southbank, lining a pretty stretch of the River Thames, where attractions include Tate Modern, Southbank Centre and Southwark Cathedral. We drop close to Borough Market, London’s historic food market. In the afternoon we cross back across the Thames and visit the Sky Garden, London’s highest garden, where you can enjoy views from the floor to ceiling glass windows of the iconic London skyline and stroll the lush landscaped gardens before making your way to the observation decks on the 43rd floor.
