Sunday We journey south west, pausing at the Clifton Suspension Bridge Visitors Centre before arriving for a succulent cream tea (scones/jam/cream and tea/coffee) in Wells Cathedral. After attending Evensong, we check in to the nearby Swan Hotel for dinner and our 2-night stay. Monday Beautiful Bath is today’s destination - a truly unique city with its hot springs, Roman Baths, splendid Abbey and Georgian stone crescents that has been attracting visitors for centuries. Tuesday A free morning to explore Wells, England’s smallest city or join us on a short drive to the ancient market town of Glastonbury - The town has a wealth of beautiful, historic buildings including the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey set in 36 acres of parkland (admission not included). It is also known for its bohemian culture, quirky shops and cafés. In the afternoon we visit the magnificent limestone Cheddar Gorge. Classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Britain’s largest gorge has dramatic cliffs rising up 450ft and stunning stalactite caverns before returning homewards.

Visit the world-class exhibition and visitor centre with 250 ancient objects and come face to face with a 5,500-year-old man. We continue to our hotel in the afternoon for our 2-night stay. Monday One of England’s most appealing destinations, Bath is a strikingly beautiful city with a rich history and abundance of exquisite architectural treasures including the ancient Roman baths, the majestic Abbey and iconic Royal Crescent. The city’s compact centre is teeming with museums and galleries to discover alongside a superb range of places to eat and drink, plus some of the finest independent shops in Britain. Tuesday Departing our hotel we travel north to the enchanting Cotswolds for a visit to Cirencester, a charming Roman town where attractions include Cirencester Park, the New Brewery Arts, a Roman Amphitheatre, and the Corinium Museum. We then continue via Birdlip Hill with magnificent views over the Severn Vale and the Cotswolds Hills, returning home late afternoon.

Sunday Driving through the glorious Cotswolds region we pause at the region’s capital – Cirencester. Here we can discover the beautiful 12th century Augustine Abbey of St Mary’s nestling amidst a delightful array of ancient honey coloured stone buildings located in picturesque narrow streets, courtyards and alleyways. In the afternoon before reaching our hotel, we continue to Lacock village, with its Abbey (NT). This time warp village is famous for its picturesque streets, historic buildings and as a location for TV and film. Monday After breakfast we drive to historic Devizes. This delightful market town has a colourful medieval past with a wealth of history and architectural heritage with more than 500 listed buildings and a large Market Place in the heart of the town. Next, we continue to the World Heritage Site of Avebury (NT). Known throughout the World for its Stone Circles, the largest in Europe, so it is both a tourist attraction and an important religious site. Close-by you will also find Avebury Manor (NT) a charming Grade I listed early 16th century manor house and its surrounding garden.

Sunday Departing Henley we drive to Swindon where we visit ‘STEAM’ – a museum where we can explore the rich history of the Great Western Railway. You will meet life-like characters, including engineering genius, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. He created virtually every aspect of the GWR - from London Paddington to Bristol and beyond. Housed in a beautifully restored railway building, the museum is located right next to the Swindon Designer Outlet. Later, we check into our hotel. Tonight, enjoy private dining with our After Dinner Speaker Jackie Simmonds, describing her life as a Tiller! Monday Departing our hotel, we visit Bowood House and Gardens, where we walk through a secret door into an enchanting garden for the start of our guided tour of Lord and Lady Lansdowne’s private awardwinning walled garden. In the afternoon, we visit historic Lacock. Set in rural Wiltshire, the village is famous for its picturesque streets and historic buildings and is a popular TV and filming location. The Abbey is located at the heart of the village and houses the Fox Talbot Museum, which celebrates the achievements of former Lacock resident, William Fox Talbot, famous for his contributions to the invention of photography.

Sunday We drive to Arundel where we are free to explore this old market town. The historic 19th century cathedral overlooks the town from the west bank of the river Arun and is a fine example of gothic architecture, whereby the towering stately home and fortified castle, that has been the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and their ancestors since 1067, conceals a very fine collection of furniture, paintings, clocks, tapestries, armour and much more, including personal possessions of Mary, Queen of Scots. Tonight, we enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation at the Norfolk Arms Hotel. Monday Steeped in over 2000 years of history, Chichester is our delightful destination today. Dominated by the 900-year-old Cathedral the town has many fine buildings and also offers the visitor excellent shopping. We commence our journey homewards in the afternoon.

We continue in the afternoon to our hotel for our 2-night stay. Saturday Winchester is crammed with hidden treasures just waiting to be discovered. Explore the medieval streets and admire the history of Winchester Cathedral, Wolvesey Castle and Winchester City Mill before strolling along the River Itchen to The Hospital of St Cross. From world class attractions and architecture, unrivalled shopping and delicious dining - there’s plenty to do in Winchester. Sunday Known as ‘the city in the countryside’, Salisbury is surrounded by a landscape so quintessentially English it’s almost too good to be true. With timbered buildings, an Early English Gothic Cathedral home to the famous Magna Carta, museums and great shopping. Its historic streets are home to all your favourite stores, as well as independent retailers offering unusual items you won’t find on every high street. We return homeward during the late afternoon.

Step on board historic ships and explore magnificent museums from the Royal Navy’s past. Visit HMS Victory and see Nelson’s legendary warship, dive deep on-board HMS Alliance or take a Harbour Tour and discover a working naval base from the water. The festival sees the Royal Marines showcase their incredible musicianship and pageantry and features a wide range of musical styles, including music from the big screen and superb solo items, as well as the traditional marches and overtures that have proved such a hit with audiences over the years. Sunday After breakfast we head to the historical town of Windsor, where you will have time to visit Windsor Castle or wander around the shops and enjoy some lunch in one of the many restaurants. We return home during the early evening.
