GENERAL INFORMATION

CONFIRMATION OF BOOKING:

To confirm your booking, please pay in full within 7 days. Once payment is received, we will send your confirmation/receipt, the number and location of seats booked. Please check your confirmation details carefully as late alterations may incur charges.

REDUCTIONS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS & CHILDREN:

Special discounted rates for Senior Citizens are listed alongside each excursion. Children aged 4-14 are carried at the Child rates listed. Please note we cannot accept unaccompanied children below 14 years of age.

CANCELLATION:

Should circumstances arise where, due to less than 20 bookings, we are forced to cancel an excursion; all monies paid by all passengers will be refunded. Following that, the Company shall be exempt from any further liability.

Passengers may cancel at any time prior to departure, subject to the following conditions:

(i)For cancellations notified to us more than 7 days prior to departure, a £5.00 charge per booking is made.

(i)For cancellations for which less than 7 (but more than 1) clear days notice is received, a £15.00 per person charge is made.

(iii) For cancellations made within 1 day of the excursion, the full cost of the excursion will be charged.

(iv) Special cancellation charges may apply where admission tickets are purchased in advance.

PERFORMING ARTISTS:

For some shows, it may be advertised that a well-known personality is taking a starring role. We cannot be held liable, if on the date of our visit, the personality is unable to perform and is replaced by an understudy.

Whittles Coaches reserve the right to alter excursions or prices, or the size and specification of the vehicle used.

We reserve the right to substitute the planned 53 seater coach on any excursion with a different seating configuration, without notice.

Cadbury World at Easter

Monday 1st April

Uncover a world of chocolate delights, learn how your favourite confectionary is made, doodle in chocolate and discover the origins of the cocoa bean before jumping aboard the Cadabra ride and meeting with John Cadbury himself. Join Freddo and a whole host of Cadbury characters as they whisk you on a journey in the 4D chocolate adventure and experience the sensation of riding the Crunchie rollercoaster and taking to the skies in the Cadbury Creme Egg airship.

Cambridge and Cream Tea in Grantchester

Tuesday 2nd April

Enjoy free time to explore the city of Cambridge, perhaps visit the ‘greatest little museum in the world’, the Fitzwilliam Museum. We round the day off at the Orchard Tea Rooms in Grantchester for a cream tea. For over 700 years, students such as Newton, Darwen, Cromwell and Tennyson have walked, ridden or boated from Cambridge to Grantchester Village.

Pot House Hamlet and Cannon Hall Farm

Thursday 4th April

We call at Pot House Hamlet, with café, shops and petting farm. We then continue to Cannon Hall Farm, a family owned and operated working farm and TV famous from appearances on Springtime on the Farm, Winter on the Farm, The Yorkshire Vet and more. Get up close with the farm animals including lambs, piglets, horses, llamas and Highland cows. Explore the Reptile House and watch demonstrations including goat milking and farm life.

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard – Ultimate Explorer

Friday 5th April

Situated within a working Naval Base, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is home to a collection of fantastic attractions, historic ships and museums. We include the Ultimate Explorer Ticket, with entry to ALL of the onsite attractions including The Mary Rose, HMS Warrior and HMS Victory, the Royal Navy Submarine Museum, Explosion Museum of Naval Firepower, Boathouse 4 boatbuilding exhibition, a harbour tour and waterbus to Gosport.

The Tower of London

Saturday 6th April

Discover the Tower of London’s 900 year history as a royal palace and fortress, prison and place of execution, mint, arsenal, menagerie and jewel house. It has been the seat of British government and the living quarters of monarchs, the site of renowned political intrigue and the repository of the Crown Jewels. Highlights include the magnificent collection of 23,578 gemstones, still used in royal ceremonies today, kept under armed guard in the Jewel House, the White Tower, built by William the Conqueror, which houses displays from the Royal Armouries, live costumed re-enactments, and see instruments of torture in the Lower Wakefield Tower.

Bletchley Park – Home of the Codebreakers

Sunday 7th April

Explore, experience and enjoy the once top-secret world of iconic WWII Codebreaking Huts and Blocks, set within an atmospheric Victorian Estate, where 12,000 people worked in complete secrecy. It is a place of exceptional historical importance and the exhibitions show the major role it played in WWII, providing secret intelligence which had a direct and profound influence on the outcome of the conflict.

Elvis the Exhibition: Direct from Graceland

Monday 8th April

Direct from Graceland: Elvis bursts open the archives featuring hundreds of treasures, over half that have never been seen before in the UK. Gain exclusive access to the life and world of Elvis Presley with over 400 plus artefacts, from his prized Ferrari Dino to his iconic Gold Lame suit. Evesham Blossom Trail and Carvery

Wednesday 10th April

The Vale of Evesham and its surrounding area is some of the most productive horticultural land in the country, and is well known for its apples, pears and plums. The roadsides are ablaze with colour – the soft pink tones of cherry and apple blossom contrast with the white of the pear and the plum. We enjoy a stop off at The Valley, Evesham’s country park, with its shopping village, garden centre and light railway. We return via the Wheelbarrow Castle country pub, where we enjoy a delicious two-course carvery.

Buxton and the Judith Mary Cream Tea Cruise

Saturday 13th April

Located in the Peak District National Park, we arrive at Buxton where you can enjoy some free time taking in the architecture or visiting its shops before we head to the stunning Upper Peak Forest Canal to board the Judith Mary, a 72 foot long canal boat, to enjoy a 2-hour peaceful cruise through outstanding countryside with magnificent views of the mountains all around whilst enjoying a Cream Tea.

Matlock Bath, Peak Railway and Afternoon Tea

Sunday 14th April

We enjoy a stop in the tourist town of Matlock Bath, with attractions including aquarium and mining museum, before continuing to Rowsley where we board the Peak Railway for a delightful journey through Derbyshire countryside, including afternoon tea.

Claverton Manor: The American Museum and Bath

Tuesday 16th April

We enjoy a couple of hours to explore Bath, before continuing to Claverton Manor, a Grade I listed Georgian Estate with gardens designed by famous US landscape architects Oehme van Sweden and an arboretum. The museum features American arts and heritage with over 12,000 objects including collections of quilts, folk art and maps, which are recognised as some of the most significant in Europe. The contemporary New American Garden is a tapestry of American prairie planting and the Mount Vernon Garden takes its inspiration from George Washington Estate in Virginia.

Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum and Tour

Saturday 20th April

Expertly led by a friendly guide, you’ll see the facilities used by the world’s best tennis players as well as broadcasters, and learn how Wimbledon’s distinctive grass is cared for. The tour includes a visit to some of the iconic courts, including Centre Court, No 1 Court and Court 18, a visit to The Hill and the Members Tea Lawn. In the museum get up close to the famous trophies, feel the fabrics of tennis fashions from the Victorian period, test your skills on the Batak Wall and learn about how the Championships have developed since 1877.

Hampton Court Palace Tulip Festival

Sunday 21st April

Hampton Court Palace was built in 1520 and is England’s last and greatest medieval hall with its fine tapestries. Follow the Tulip Trail and enjoy a tulip extravaganza, with over 250,000 bulbs, having been planted especially for the occasion.

Springtime at Ralph Court Gardens with Afternoon Tea

Monday 22nd April

We enjoy a morning break in the town of Bromyard, before continuing to Ralph Court Gardens, with fourteen unique gardens to explore – from Italy to Africa, transport yourself around the world and beyond into a mythical fantasy world. We then enjoy afternoon tea in the restaurant overlooking the Malvern Hills.

Harrogate

Thursday 25th April

Harrogate is renowned for its floral beauty and elegant spa buildings. The Montpellier Quarter is a great shopping destination – crammed full with a selection of designer shops and independent boutiques for the fashion conscious, along with pavement cafes, award-winning restaurants and a myriad of antique shops to explore.

Harrogate Spring Flower Show is the first major event in the gardening calendar. The prestigious event features stunning show gardens, live talks and demonstrations, great garden shopping and the biggest exhibitions by florists and flower arrangers in the country.

Ripon and The Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park

Saturday 27th April

Today we head to the cathedral city of Ripon, with its quaint medieval streets filled with shops, tearooms, historic buildings and bustling market square. We also visit the highly acclaimed Himalayan Garden, best known for its flamboyant bursts of colour with rare rhododendrons, azaleas and Himalayan plants stealing the show. Also view the 80 contemporary sculptures. The excursion is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Cirque du Soleil: Ovo – Utilita Arena Birmingham

Sunday 28th April

Cirque du Soleil is thrilled to announce its return to the UK for the first time in six years with its newly revisited high-energy and high-acrobatic production OVO. An exciting Cirque du Soleil experience, OVO is a colourful intrusion into a new day in the life of insects; a nonstop riot of energy and movement. Through show-stopping acrobatics highlighting the unique personalities and abilities of selected insect species, OVO explores the beauty of biodiversity in all its contrasts and vibrancy. Loved by children and adults alike, OVO’s return to the UK for its 2024 arena run will appeal to audiences of all ages once again, but this time with 3 new acts and characters to excite the crowds.

RHS Bridgewater and the Sky Garden

Tuesday 30th April

We visit Castleford Viaduct, built in 1892, it is a core part of Manchester’s industrial heritage. After years of standing empty it has recently been transformed by the National Trust into a ‘garden in the sky’. RHS Bridgewater opened in 2021 on the former Worsley New Hall, with highlights including the Paradise Garden, Kitchen Garden and Walled Garden.

Springtime Royal Garden and Runnymede Lunch Cruise

Wednesday 1st May

We travel to Runnymede, and enjoy a relaxing 2-hour cruise through the ‘back garden’ of Windsor Castle, with views of the castle and Royal Farm. We enjoy lunch whilst on board. We then have an afternoon visit to the Savill Garden, part of Great Windsor Park, nestled into 35 acres with highlights including National collections, rare species and Champion trees, where we also include cream tea.

Bluebells at Greys Court and Henley-on-Thames

Friday 3rd May

Henley-on-Thames is one of the most beautiful towns in England. It has a lovely riverside location, a pub where Charles I drank, a Chantry house, a butcher that smokes his own meat, and independent shops to explore. The bluebells at Greys Court cover the estate in a beautiful carpet of blue – and the wider grounds include an arboretum, Chinese Moon Bridge and a series of walled gardens. Explore the house, a patchwork of styles from Tudor show house to 20th century family home.

Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza

We visit the lovely Victorian seaside resort, where their popular Bank Holiday Extravaganza features brass bands, steam engines, old time street fair and entertainers.

Highclere Castle – The Real Downton Abbey

Sunday 5th May

Location for TV’s hit drama Downton Abbey, and home to the Caernarvon Family since 1679, the original house was recorded in the Domesday Book, and the present day castle was designed in 1842 by Sir Charles Barry, the architect also responsible for the Houses of Parliament. It is one of England’s most beautiful Victorian castles, set amidst 1,000 acres of spectacular parkland. The castles history also includes a fascinating connection with ancient Egypt and houses a commemorative exhibition.

The Valley Evesham and Moreton-in-Marsh Market Day

Tuesday 7th May

We enjoy a morning stop at The Valley Evesham, housing over 25 independent shops and Light Railway. We continue to Moreton-in-Marsh, where the popular weekly market is in full swing, selling an array of goods.

Spalding Flower Parade

Saturday 11th May

After ten years the Spalding Flower Parade returned in 2023! The theme for 2024 will be The Movies, and as well as the large amount of colourful, flower adorned floats and trailers, there will be free family attractions including huge craft fair, classic car show, street entertainers, live music and trade stands.

RHS Malvern Spring Show

Sunday 12th May

The region’s biggest and brightest gardening show can be found at the Three Counties Showground, with magnificent floral displays, courtyard gardens, floral art show and a rural craft marquee. RHS experts are on hand to give practical advice and there is a whole host of opportunities for gardeners, horticulturists and homemakers.

Romantic Southern Cotswolds and Chavenage House with Afternoon Tea

We first visit Painswick, ‘Queen of the Cotswolds’. Built from mellow Cotswold stone, wander around its quaint streets with a variety of small shops and galleries. We continue to Malmesbury on the edge of the south eastern Cotswolds, with its stunning 12th century abbey, Market Cross and free Athelston Museum. We finish the day at Chavenage House, a beautiful Elizabethan Manor, known as ‘Trenwith’, the ‘Poldark’ pile. It has been used for many other TV programmes, including the ‘House of Elliot’ and ‘Lark Rise to Candleford’. We include afternoon tea.

We enjoy free time in the seaside resort of Aberystwyth, on the rugged Ceredigion coastline. It boasts the oldest pier in Wales, a mile long Victorian promenade, with the world’s largest Camera Obscura. The Cliff Railway is the longest in Britain. It is a foodie heaven and offers lovely independent shops to browse. The Arts Centre and National Library of Wales are also worth a visit. In the afternoon we include a return ride on the Rheidol Railway, a stunning journey along the Rheidol Valley, through the ancient woodlands to Devil’s Bridge, home of the famous waterfalls, nestling in the magnificent Cambrian Mountains.

Nantwich and Anderton Boat Lift and Cruise with Cream Tea

Nantwich is a charming historical market town set beside the River Weaver with a quaint market square and a wide range of speciality shops. Nicknamed ‘Cathedral of the Canals’, not only does the Anderton Boat Lift still do the job it was designed to do of lifting boats and barges 50 feet from the River Weaver, to the Trent and Mersey Canal, but it does it with the most ingenious and endearing character of any structure of the canal system. We include a boat trip on Edwin Clark, the glass sided boat which includes a lift trip and a cruise along the River Weaver, with cream tea.

Gloucester Tall Ships Festival

Steaming through the Cotswolds to Cheltenham

Wentworth Woodhouse and Wentworth Garden Centre with Lunch

Dudley Zoo

Cotswold Wildlife Park

Monkey World

Bucklers Hard, Beaulieu River Cruise and Afternoon Tea

We visit Bucklers Hard, an 18th century shipbuilding village on the banks of the Beaulieu River. The unspoilt haven is steeped in history from its beginnings in the 13th century when it was owned by Cistercian monks, to its time as a shipyard where boats for Nelson’s Navy were built. Discover its stories in the museum and reconstructed cottage displays. We include a costumed guided tour, a tranquil 30-minute cruise along the Beaulieu River with commentary and afternoon tea.

Westminster Abbey, London

Friday 6th September

Take a self guided tour of this architectural masterpiece of the 13th-16th centuries. Westminster Abbey presents a unique pageant of British history, from the shrine of Edward the Confessor, the tombs of Kings and Queens and memorials of the famous and the great. This has also been the setting for every coronation since 1066 and has seen 16 Royal weddings. There are many parts you can visit including Poets Corner, Coronation Chair, the Lady Chapel, Royal Tombs, Unknown Warrior, Cloisters, Chapter House and the Queens Diamond Jubilee Galleries.

Windsor and Windsor Castle

Saturday 7th September

Our visit to the historic market town of Windsor is home to the world famous Windsor Castle which has for over 900 years been continuously inhabited and has been improved and restored by successive monarchs.

Our visit includes the magnificent State Apartments, which are furnished with some of the finest works from the Royal collection. St George’s Chapel, which was the setting for the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018, is one of the most beautiful ecclesiastical buildings in England. Ten monarchs and senior Royal Family members are buried here including Henry VIII and Charles I, and more recently King George VI, Queen Elizabeth (The Queen Mother) and Princess Margaret.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway and Whitby

Sunday 8th September

We travel to Pickering, and the 1930’s themed station, to board the railway which featured in the hit TV series Heartbeat. We journey to Grosmont, where our coach will collect you and take you to Goathland, the fictional ‘Aidensfield’, where many of the landmarks from the series are recognisable including the stores, garage, public house and the railway, which also became Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter films. We finish the afternoon in the seaside resort of Whitby, with its rich maritime history, connections to Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Captain Cook and glorious abbey ruins.

Salt & Silk! Macclesfield Silk Museum and Lion Salt Works

Thursday 12th September

We visit two award-winning Cheshire museums, the Silk Mill and Lion Salt Works Museum, including lunch and refreshments. The Silk Mill and Paradise Mill tells the 300 year history of Macclesfield as a global centre for silk manufacturing, textiles and design. It features a unique collection of machines as well as the largest collection of silk Jacquard handlooms in Europe. On arrival at Lion Salt Works enjoy a sandwich lunch then take a guided tour which tells the story of open pan salt making and the huge deposits of salt that lie beneath the Cheshire Plain.

Stamford and Nene Valley Railway

Baddesley Clinton and Packwood House

Thursday 19th September

Baddesley Clinton was the home of the Ferrers family for 500 years. It was a sanctuary not only for the Ferrers family but also for persecuted catholics who were hidden from priest hunters in its secret hiding places during the 1590’s. Packwood House is a much restored Tudor house, park and garden with notable topiary. It contains a fine collection of 16th century textiles and furniture, and the gardens have renowned herbaceous borders and a famous collection of yews.
