Participants can register online at www.mykidsclub. org/5k/. All event proceeds benefit My Kid’s Club afterschool education programs in Selma and Smithfield.

Started in 1976, the Railroad Days 5K is the oldest 5K in North Carolina. My Kid’s Club is thrilled to host the event this year in person, and there is also a virtual option for those who want to participate from anywhere. There will also be a free One-Mile Kids Fun Run for younger participants after the 5K takes off.

Race registration options include the 5K Run/Walk, 5K Run/Walk Virtual Option, and Sponsor-A- Kid. The registration fee is $35, and a short-sleeved Railroad Days race T-shirt is included for those registered before Sept. 13.

“I’m very proud to serve on the board of My Kid’s Club, an organization that is so invested in the success of kids in Johnston County,” said Samantha Barbour, My Kid’s Club 5K Committee Chair and local resident. “I encourage everyone to come out and join us for this fun event.”
