HOTEL AMBROSINE

5 BEEKMAN STREET

L ocated at 5 Beekman Street in the Financial District of Manhattan, New York; A stately historic building stands delicately in the shadow of its modernistic, high rise surroundings. Completed in the year of 1884, this structure housed the largest atrium in all of New York City, and boasted only the third elevator in the whole city and surrounding areas. Standing at 9 stories tall, this building encompasses a surplus of classical detail that has stood the test of time due to the central atrium being covered for over 40 years because of it no longer meeting the new york city building and fire codes. The architect of the building was Thomas Betts. A native New Yorker, who passed away suddenly before seeing his dream come to fruition. He dreamed that one day his masterpiece would cater to all of manhattans elite whenever they so desired.

“The scariest form of freedom is insanity- Because it is a complete freedom from the conventions of society. -Tim Burton

“I find beauty in the grotesque.” - ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

St Pauls chapel

L ocated

just two blocks away from 5 Beekamn, St. Pauls Chapel served as a pivotal resource when creating a narrative for Hotel Ambrosine. Every single character in the narrative was pulled directly from headstones in the cemetery which dates back to the 1800s
