Goals for This Month: Assured Promises
Christians are sometimes called believers—because we have faith in God. We do not doubt that He exists. But many of us could be called doubters because we do not have an active, personal relationship with Christ. We are perhaps not even certain God likes us, much less loves us. We hesitate to say that we have been forgiven totally, that our destiny is indeed heaven. In such cases, we neither feel nor display the hope of the life hidden in Christ, and it seems as if we have resigned ourselves to a life of misery, bereft of joy, accepting it as our lot. Others, assured that their sins are forgiven and they are destined for heaven, are a little further on the journey. They seem certain of their future but still have doubts about their present. They either do not believe in or are not versed in the myriad of truths and blessings God has spoken of and provided for those who believe. Or, being modern women, they doubt that the promises God made thousands of years ago can possibly apply to their lives today! Instead of taking God’s Word as truth, they want to witness the proof of His promises in their lives now. For them, seeing is believing. And they wonder why they still have no peace, no joy, no hope for their present day. So they live in the future instead of the moment. Where are you living today?
God’s power is working in us. . . . Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.
2 Corinthians 6:7, 10 nlt

There is no magic formula to obtaining joy. Simply embed yourself in the Word and embed the Word in yourself—mind, body, and soul.
