Thank you for buying Screw Driver Controller [CT-F] The following general safety precautions must be read before using and must be observed during all phases of operation.

For your safety

Caution ・Beware of Rotation ・Never touch rotating bits directly by hand while the Screwdriver is turning ,as it is very dangerous. ・Never look into rotating part closely while in Rotation. It is extremely dangerous when bit tip is chipped or broken due to excess force applied in operation, or because of aging ,or metal fatigue e.t.c.(It will even cause human injuries)

・Beware of Electric shock ・Be sure to pull out the power plug from the plug socket when changing a fuse.(Failure to do this can cause an electric shock ) ・Do not water or wet CT-F( It will cause fire or electric shock.)

・Protect your Wrist ,Elbow ,and Shoulder from being damage. ・Do not use the Screw Driver for Automation equipment use manually. (Otherwise your wrist ,elbow ,or shoulder will be damaged)

Precaution on use Caution ・Confirm that Screwdriver and the controller has been jointed tightly with a connecting cable before turning on the power supply switch. ・Use the Screwdriver applicable with this controller. ・Never disassemble or remodel the Controller unless other wise described in this manual. ・Do not apply strong vibration ,shock or drop to Controller and Screwdriver. ・It is not recommendable to use this system in the area where is too much dust or oil mist or iron chips . ・It is not recommendable to use this system in the area where is strong magnetic field or near strong electric noise source. It may cause error operation. ・Be sure to connect I/O connection correctly to avoid error operation and cause of malfunction when you do external control.

1. Applicable model 1-1

Electric Screwdriver

・The applicable models of Electric Screwdriver for Controller CT-F are as follows ・Please set Error Parameter [E-B] according to 3-5 –(2)⑪Setting method for Error parameter in page 17 when Screwdriver was changed. ※

Please do not use the Screwdriver other than listed here.

The old type Screwdriver (the end is with E) can not be used.

Please contact us or our distributor for Custom designed Screwdriver.

⑬ Connector for Electric Screwdriver ① Torque indicator(Green display): ・The set Torque value will be displayed ・Indicate each abbreviated parameter symbol as set ② Revolution indicator(Red display) ・No-load r.p.m. of Screwdriver in connection is displayed. ・Indicate each set figure as setting ③ SET Switch ・Switch for setting each parameter. ・With LOCK switch ON state, this switch will be invalid. ④ MODE Switch ・With pushing for more than 3 second, it will be switched over between Standard mode and User’s mode. ・When setting a parameter ,you can switch it to the next parameter in forward by pushing this switch . ⑤ CW Switch ・In Standard mode or User’s mode, you can start or stop the Screwdriver in CW direction. ⑥ CCW Switch ・In Standard mode or User’s mode, you can start or stop the Screwdriver in CCW direction. ⑦ REV Switch ・The setting value will be decreased when you push this Switch in Standard mode ・Switch over the display in reverse when you push this switch in User’s mode or Error parameter setting mode. 5


⑧ LOCK Switch ・Switch over between Standard mode and Error parameter setting mode with pushing this switch for more than 3 second. ・When LOCK switch is active, SET switch and REV switch will be disabled. ⑨ MODE switch LED(Green) ・LED light on when each mode display the first parameter. ⑩ CW switch LED(Green) ・LED light on when CW switch ON. ⑪ CCW switch LED(Green) ・LED light on when CCW switch ON. ⑫ LOCK switch LED(Red) ・LED light on when LOCK switch ON. ⑬ Connector for Electric Screwdriver(10P) ・The connector to connect the Screwdriver.

3. How to operate 3-1

Display soon after power -on

・The applicable models of Screwdriver will be displayed for about 3 second after power on. ・If the Screwdriver is not same type as displayed Set the Error parameter [E-B] according to 3-5 –(2)Setting method for Error parameter in page 17

Method for Mode change

・There are three modes in this controller ,namely Standard mode ,User’s mode ,and Error parameter setting mode. ・With pushing Mode Switch for more than 3 second, it will be switched over between Standard mode and User’s mode. ・Switch over between Standard mode and Error parameter setting mode with pushing LOCK switch for more than 3 second. ・Whenever you want to change the mode, Return to Standard mode first and then go to other mode you wish.

Operation methods in Standard Mode

(1)The methods to change display for Standard parameter ・The next parameter will be displayed when you push the MODE. ・The display will return to the first display when you push the Mode switch during displaying the last parameter.

Parameter :Torque ・Torque can be set with SET,REV switch ・Torque will be displayed in lower window. The unit is [kgf・cm]. ・ Setting range for Torque is different between the models of Screwdriver. ・No load r.p.m will be automatically set and displayed in upper window when you set Torque.

(example: SD-1500F)

Parameter :Revolution ・With SET,REV switch, Set No-load r.p.m within ±30 rpm of automatic setting revolution above mentioned. ・Minimum unit available for setting is 1 rpm. Example ; When the Revolution automatically set to 1780, available setting range is 1750 to 1810 rpm.

(example: SD-1500F)

Parameter :Brief return time

This function serves to release screw slotting and bit fastening by setting a slight period of time of reversing. Brief return time can set after completion of fastening screw. The torque for Brief return is about 30% of the fastening torque. ・With SET,REV switch, set Brief return time. ・Setup range is 0.0~2.5sec. ・Minimum unit available for setting is0.1sec. ・Available in operation mode 『0』or 『1』 『0.0』 :no Brief return 『0.1~2.5』 :Brief return time has been set.

Parameter :Interval

Set time period from the completion of one fastening to starting next operation when you are continuously repeating operation. ・With SET,REV switch, set Interval time ・setup range: 0.0~10.0sec Minimum unit available for setting is 0.1sec 『0.0』 :No interval time has been set. operating once only. 『0.1~10.0』 :Interval time has been set. Will be repeat with the interval time . 9


Parameter :Torque hold ・With SET,REV switch, Set torque hold time ・setup range: 0.1~1.0sec、 Minimum unit available for setting is 0.1sec

Parameter :Returning operation time This parameter is to limit the operation time in returning screw. ・With SET,REV switch, Set Returning operation time. ・setup range: 0.1~10.0sec、 ・Minimum unit available for setting is 0.1sec ・Available in operation mode 『2』or『3』

Parameter :Operation mode ・With SET switch, Set Operation mode. ・setup range: 0~3 『0』 :Screw tightening mode With CW・CCW switch on front panel 『1』 :Screw tightening mode With CW・CCW input of I/O connector Or switching of Screwdriver of hand held type 『2』 :Screw returning(loosen)mode With CW・CCW switch on front panel 『3』 :Screw returning(loosen)mode With CW・CCW input of I/O connector Or switching of Screwdriver of hand held type

(3)Start operation ・With CW・CCW switch on front panel or With CW・CCW input of I/O connector ,or switching on the hand held type Screwdriver .the Screwdriver will start to operate. ・It will stop the operation and hold if you push CW,CCW switch during the operation of Screwdriver .In case you input from I/O connector、it will stop and hold when you switch off via CW・CCW input. Also it will also stop when switching off the hand held type Screwdriver ・After completion of tightening or returning the screw, the operation will be finished after giving the output of completion signal via I/O port for 1sec after Interval. ・It will automatically start to repeat operation if you set interval time other than [0.0] ・If error were detected, it will be forced to stop the operation.

Operation methods for User’s mode

(1)User’s mode ・Continuous operation whose parameters have been saved in each Bank is available in User’s mode. Single operation for specified Bank is also possible. ・There are seven Banks ,and each Bank consists following 7 parameters. Bank

1 Direction of rotation 2 Torque 3 Revolution 4 Return angle 5 Brief return time 6 Interval time 7 Hold time

(2)Change the display for parameters

・With pushing the MODE switch ,next parameter will be displayed. With pushing REV switch, display will be returned to previous parameter. ・In case the last parameter was displayed, with pushing the MODE switch, the display will return to the first parameter. ・In case the first parameter was displayed, with pushing the REV switch, the display will return to the last parameter.

(3)Setting for Parameter ①

Parameter :Operation Block ・With SET switch, Set Operation Block ・setup range is 1~7 ・Each numerical value indicate the Bank. The Operation will be continued until reaching specified number. 『1』 :Operate only Bank 1 『2』 :Continuous operation for Bank 1,2 『3』 :Continuous operation for Bank 1~3 『4』 :Continuous operation for Bank 1~4 『5』 :Continuous operation for Bank 1~5 『6』 :Continuous operation for Bank 1~6 『7』 :Continuous operation for Bank 1~7

Parameter :Repeat Operation ・With SET switch, Set :Repeat Operation ・setup range:0~2 ・please see [4-6 Bank Assignment Terminal] for bank assignment 『0』 :Continuous operation of Bank once only 『1』 :Repeatedly Continuous operation of Bank 『2』 :Operation of the Bank Assignment(From I/O, Bank assignment terminal & Repeat Assignment terminals are active)

Parameter :Operation mode ・With SET switch, Set Operation mode ・Select 0 or1 『0』 : with CW・CCW switch on front panel 『1』 : with CW・CCW input via I/O Or switching by handheld Screwdriver.

The direction of rotation will be set by the parameter of Direction of rotation in User’s mode ,there is no difference between CW・CCW input. Same operation will be performed when you input CW or CCW.

Parameter : Direction of rotation (Bank1~7) ・Bank number will be displayed at right side in lower window. ・With SET switch, Set Direction of rotation ・select 0 or1 『0』 : rotate CW direction 『1』 :rotate CCW direction

(incase of Bank 1)

Parameter :Torque(Bank1~7) ・Bank number will be displayed at right side in lower window. ・With SET switch, Set Torque ・Range of Torque will be different between model of Screwdriver ・unit; [kgf・cm] ・No-load r.p.m will be automatically set when the Torque was set.

Parameter :Revolution(Bank1~7) ・Bank number will be displayed at right side in lower window. ・With SET switch , Set No-load r.p.m within range of the Screwdriver. ・please see [6-2 Revolution of bit against Torque value]

(incase of Bank 1) ⑦Parameter :Return angle(Bank1~7) ・Bank number will be displayed at right side in lower window. ・With SET switch, Set Return angle ・set up range is 0~1800degree. Unit is 10 degree ※

It becomes screw tighten mode when you set to『0』

It becomes screw loosening mode when you set to『10』~『1800』

⑧Parameter :Brief return time(Bank1~7) ・Bank number will be displayed at right side in lower window. ・With SET switch, Set Brief return time ・Setup range is 0.0~2.5sec. ・Minimum unit available for setting is0.1sec. ※ It will be invalid in case you set return angle other than 0

⑨Parameter :Interval time(Bank1~7) Set the period of time until the start of next Bank Operation . ・Bank number will be displayed at right side in lower window. ・With SET switch, Set Interval time ・ setup range:0.0~5.0sec 、 ・Minimum unit available for setting is0.1sec.

⑩Parameter : Hold time(Bank1~7) ・Bank number will be displayed at right side in lower window. ・With SET switch, Set time to hold the torque . ・setup range ;0.0~1.0sec unit :0.1sec ※

It will be invalid in case you set return angle other than 0

(4)Start for operation ・In case operation mode (③ in page 12) is [0], the Screw driver will start to operate with CW・CCW switch on front panel. It will stop the operation and hold if you push CW,CCW switch during the operation of Screwdriver . ・In case operation mode is [1], the Screw driver will start to operate with CW・CCW input of I/O connector or with switching Handheld Screwdriver.It will stop and hold when you switch off via CW・CCW input or when you switch off the Hand held Screwdriver. ・The Bank currently operating will be display during the operation of Screwdriver.

Error parameter

(1)Change the display for Error parameter ・With pushing the MODE switch ,next parameter will be displayed. ・ In case the last parameter was displayed, with pushing the MODE switch, the display will return to the first parameter. (2)Setting method for Error parameter ①

Error parameter【E-1】torque start around 1% of torque.

[Meaning]Time limitation applied to state where the Torque has not been reached to the set level ・With SET ,REV switch, Set the Time ・setup range 0.0~25.0sec、unit 0.1sec 『0.0』 :Not monitoring the error 『0.1~25.0』 :Monitoring the error Error when over the Time limitation

②Error parameter 【E-2】 [Meaning]Time limitation to reach the set Torque after exceeding 30% of the set Torque. ・With SET,REV switch, Set the Time ・setup range 0.1~5.0sec、unit 0.1sec

③Error parameter 【E-3】 [Meaning]Accumulating time for the Torque cannot retain at the set level after reaching the set Torque ・With SET,REV switch, Set the Time ・setup range 0.01~2.5sec、unit 0.01sec

④Error parameter 【E-4】 [Meaning]The current of motor is abnormal. no more than 5.5A ・As this parameter has been set at factory, you can not set.

⑤Error parameter 【E-5】 [Meaning]No encoder signal has been input to controller within the set time ・With SET ,REV switch, Set the Time ・setup range 1.0~2.5sec、unit 0. 1sec

⑥Error parameter 【E-6】 [Meaning]Electric Screwdriver unconnected ・With SET switch、set 0 or1 included every cable in conecting. 『0』 :Not monitoring the error 『1』 :Error will be monitored. Error message will come out if you start without connecting Screwdriver.

⑦Error parameter 【E-7】 = E2+E5 : to check the cause that ensure from motor not encoder [Meaning]Within a set period of time ,motor become in the state close to stop ・With SET ,REV switch, Set the Time ・setup range 0. 0~25.0sec、unit 0. 1sec 『0』 :Not monitoring the error 『1』 :Error will be monitored. Error message will come out if motor is loaded during set period.

⑧Error parameter 【E-8】 [Meaning]The voltage of motor is abnormal : concerning with board in controller ・As this parameter has been set at factory, you can not set.

⑨Error parameter 【E-9】 RPM higher than standard setting (bit broken) [Meaning]Revolution of motor is exceeded more than set revolution ・As this parameter has been set at factory, you can not set.

⑩Error parameter 【E-A】 (Reverse) [Meaning]the screw has not been unfastened within set time after reaching set Torque in returning ・With SET ,REV switch, Set the Time ・setup range 0. 01~0.50sec、unit 0. 01sec

※【E-B】Torque and Revolution will be set to the model’s max value after changing the model.

⑫Error parameter 【E-C】 [Meaning]The other signal than assigned has been input to the Bank assignment input terminal in User’ mode. (in case of auto tightening) ・As this parameter has been set at factory, you can not set.

⑬Error parameter 【E-D】 [Meaning]Supplementary value for Torque of Screwdriver ・With SET ,REVswitch, Set Supplementary value for Torque of Screwdriver ・setup range92.0%~108.0%、unit 0. 1% ・This parameter is for fine adjustment of Torque when you change the screwdriver.

⑭Error parameter 【E-E】 [Meaning]The temperature in Controller become too high. ・As this parameter has been set at factory, you can not set. ・Error message will come out if the sensor in controller detect the temperature more than 85℃ ( Capable to set temperature)

⑮Error parameter 【E-F】(Bit leaved from screw driver) [Meaning]Motor revolution become rapidly too high while Torque up and Torque hold due to the bit coming out from Slot etc. ・As this parameter has been set at factory, you can not set.

(3) Method to reset the Error The display for Error can be reset when you push CW・CCW except for the Error to be recovered with restarting the power on. You can reset the display with off input when you have input via I/O connector. You can reset the error display by switching off the power of Screwdriver for handheld type.

5. USB Connector 5-1 Function of USB connector ・It is possible to set and confirm each parameter with PC by connecting PC and controller with USB cable. ・The communication between PC and controller is RS232 as USB serial interface is in controller.

(1)Connection Connect PC and Controller with USB cable. (2)Install of virtual COM port Turn on the power of Controller(CT-F) and install the driver. Disk manager →port (COM&LPT)→USB Serial Port(COMx) Device will be displayed ※Driver can be download from home page of FTDI(http://www.ftdichip.com)or there is in CD-R attached. ※When you down load from FTDI homepage, select VCP(Virtual COM port) driver of FT232RL. Operation method for Sample Software

Start the Sample Software(CT-USB.exe)after connection PC and controller

Power ON the controller.

Select COM port to be used. COM port number recognized can be seen by device manager. Push connection button and connect Com port again when you Switch on the power again because Com port will be disconnected when you power off the Controller.

When you choose a model name of driver and push the [set ] button, driver connection setting is changed.

Push [Write ] button after you input the numerical value when you set the Parameter. If you see [Succeed Writing] after display of [***Write], The writing has been completed. Incase you see [ Fail Writing] in display, please Write again after checking connection cable and Com Port.

Click the 「Read」button to check the Parameter. If you see [Succeed Reading] after display of [***Read], The Reading has been completed. Incase you see [ Fail Reading] in display, please Read again after checking connection cable and Com Port. 30
