Idler Bolt Inst'n Importance: High Dear Sir Allan, Please find my reply in red texts below. In total, how many pulse tools and other tool types that you planned to purchase? I would highly appreciate if you could let me know this perspective so that I can do something with price. I still prefer to have discussion over the phone in order to go through some important points about pulse tool with you and DCM. Please let me know when can we have this discussion? Thanks you very much. Best regards, Suradate P.S. it is good point that you brought up the maintenance cost to discuss because with our pulse tool you can save maintenance cost a lot when comporting with tool of competition. For example, our tool need the first service at 500,000 cycle while tool from competition is only 250,000 cycle or less. You will find this in my explanation below.

Idler Bolt Inst'n

Dear Mr. Suradate, For Reverse Idler Bolt Installation. (Other installation process will follow next) I have inquiries below for Cleco pneumatic pulse tool, please see below: 1.) Questions and confirmation regarding tool model: 55PTHH403, a.)

The tool model 55PTHHA403 does have an air supply from top. I would like to know if tool model: 55PTHH403 and 55PTHHA403 have same unit cost? If not, please may I request for the unit cost of 55PTHHA403? I would like to proposed this model type (air on top) to our superiors and production operators. also to know if this is much better to use. The cost of the air on top version of this specific model is about 4.3% higher than the normal version. I will ask DCM to quote the price of these 2 models to you so that you can see how much the difference is. Understand your objective. Yes, air on top version is convenient if the supplied air of your air line system is from above.

b.) What would be the maintenance cost for this model type: 55PTHH403 when reaching 100,000 cycles? and 500,000 cycles? and 1,000,000 cycles?

Please take a look at the above screenshot, the maintenance schedule, and below explanations; At each 100,000 cycles; Only some basic checks are required and you normally do not need to change anything. However, you may need to fill the reserve hydraulic oil in case you found that the oil level is not sufficient (very rare case). In order to refill reserve oil, you need the oil (#539317 – Ÿ gallon - this oil can be used in other pulse tools), and the Reserve Oil Filling Kit (#936695PT). This kit is service tools that you can keep and use to service all pulse tool units that you have. I can ask DCM to quote the price of those items to you also so that you can have an idea how much the cost is. To fill the reserve oil, just to follow the instruction illustrated below. It is easy and it takes only short time. I will find the way to send you the video about this (it is big file). Note that if you checked the reserve oil and found that the oil level is correct, you do not need to fill the reserve oil at all.

3

At each 500,000 cycles; At 500,000 cycles, the tool need to be disassembled and check. The oil inside the pulse unit need to be changed. The consumable parts of the motor and of the pulse unit should be changed. We have the service kits K1 (#936281PT – for 55PTH motor ) and K2 ( #936211 – for 55PTHH pulse unit) for this purpose. I am asking DCM to quote these 2 items to you also. In order to change the oil, you need to have oil (mentioned in 1.a) and Oil Filling Unit (#928483). 4

It is easy to change the oil. Please see below screenshot and refer to the user manual.

5

At 1,000,000 cycles; You just need to repeat what you do at 500,000 cycles. However, because at 1,000,000 cycles, the tool is quite old. Some non consumable parts may need to be replaced depending on condition that you found.

c.) Please discuss the lead time and availability for tool model: 55PTHH403 and/or 55PTHHA403? What would be the ETA on ATC after release of P.O.? Cleco Pulse Tool is made in Germany. I have just checked with the Germany warehouse yesterday, the table below is list of tools that we can deliver immediately once we received the order. As of December 3, 2013

d.) I would like to confirm if tool model: 55PTHH403 have an air supply ranges within 400 Kpa to 700 Kpa? Yes, I confirm. And the below screenshot of the user manual can double confirm.

This tool version is designed to be able to work at low pressure. It can still shut of at 4.0 bar. Please note that peruse that we are talking about is the dynamic pressure, measures while the tool is running. Also note that at lower pressure than tool’s requirement (6 bar), if the tool is used on soft joint, the tool might not be able to deliver torque at its max capacity. In this case, you need to select the bigger tool model. This is to clarify the concerns regarding air supply in ATC, though currently FR6MT Assembly Area have an air supply of 75 psi ±2 psi. So, you have only 5.17 bar upstream pressure (75 psi = 5,17 bar). If you considered the pressure drop, long hose, leakage and etc., the dynamic regulated pressure that can be at the tool would be lower. I would assume that you can deliver 5 bar dynamic pressure to the tool. This is 1 bar less than the requirement of the tool. It is okay to use and this tool can still shut-off but tool might not possible to deliver the torque at its maximum torque capacity. e.) Lastly, for 55PTHH403 please confirm if this tool do have a 10% accuracy? As I used to explain, no one can confirm the accuracy of tool on specific application without testing that specific tool on that specific application. In normal joint applications, I confirm that the H-series pulse tool can deliver ± 10% or better. For example, below screen shot, the actual test we have done to our tools. You can see that these 2 tools can delivery accuracy better than ± 10% on those specific hard and soft joints.

7

2.) Initially, I select the tool model: 55PTHH403 for Reverse Idler Application. But still I hesitantly select this model type, due to its given torque range. Based from MMC requirement, the maximum torque range for tool should be 20% higher than the maximum torque of bolt. The reverse idler bolt has torque range: 41.2 ~ 53.9 Nm. In this case, I would like to know your recommended and appropriate tool model for this bolt. (ideal torque range for tool should be 40 ~ 65 Nm) Allan, based on above information, the target torque of this Reverse Idler application is only 47.5 Nm (min 41.2Nm – target 47.5Nm – max 53.9Nm). So, if I look at the bolt and the idler shaft in the pictures, this is kind of hard joint. If you have the dynamic pressure of 6 bar. I would suggest you to go with 55PTHHA403. However, because of the MMC requirement and only 5.17 bar of max pressure that you can provide, I would suggest the next bigger size of tool which is 80PTHHA354 (50Nm – 80Nm). So, we can set this tool to shut-off at around ± 50Nm. Note that the cost of 80PTHHA354 is only 4% higher than the 35PTHHA403. 3.) See below the reverse idler bolt and part installation. This is to view and assess if this part where classified as a soft joint or hard joint. But possibly this might be a hard joint due to its metal to metal contact and properties. (bolt is not coated) I agree.

rev. idler bolt

rev. idler shaft - installation part 4.) I would like to request also a quotation for this tool model: 80PHHA604 → Non-shut off tool Also, the following questions: a.) What would be the air supply? (range of supply air) 4-7 bar. b.) What would be its % accuracy? Same, ¹10%, However, depending on operator because tool will not shut off until the operator released the trigger (accuracy is depending on the operator) c.) What would be the maintenance cost? Similar maintenance schedule as the shut-off version. The cost of service kit depends on tool model. I will asked DCM to quote. d.) Also the no. of cycles (for maintenance) in this type of tool. Similar maintenance schedule as the shut-off version. 5.) Sir, I would like to know also the warranty period for the following model: 80PHHA604 55PTHHA403 Same on both models. 1 year on quality problem of manufacturing.

Please send to us your inputs regarding the above inquiries. The above information results are requirements in my evaluation, kindly send immediately as possible. Thank you, Allan Sanciangco PED-ATC
