GeneralInformation
POSTING SCORES
In accordance with the “USGA Rules of Golf,” members of MGCC are required to post all scores on the same day the round is played. This includes all rounds, those played in the 18-Hole League or during casual play. Jesse Hackett, Head Golf Professional, will be posting all 18-Hole Ladies’ Golf League scores.
There are five 18-Hole League tournaments that are scored and posted as “competition” rounds:
Spring Tournament | Member/Member | President’s Cup | Fall Tournament | Senior Tournament
If incorrect score postings and/or handicaps are suspected, please make your concern known to the MGCC Handicap Committee for review.
This is not something that can be handled by the league.
PICKING UP
A player may “pick up ” on any hole during the round. The scorecard should be marked with the MAXIMUM STROKES (double bogey plus strokes) allowed and the player should write “PU” on the scorecard. If a player picks up on a hole associated with the weekly sweeps, the player is disqualified from that week’s sweeps contest. For example, if the sweeps are “Odd Holes Net,” the player who picks up on an even hole will not be disqualified from participating in the sweeps. The player may still post ringers and must still post their score using maximum strokes. A player who picks up during play is disqualified from earning gross or net points. A player who picks up and has played at least 15 holes will be awarded an attendance point.
Please note: League members formally voted and approved to avail themselves a drop area on Hole 16 during League play. The drop area is the same drop area marked for Junior players. It is MGCC’s practice not to mark a drop area for members on this hole.
18-HoleInterclubInformation
ELIGIBILITY

A separate sign-up sheet is posted for each tournament. Preference is given to members of the 18-Hole Ladies Golf League. For billing purposes, please include the member number on the sign-up sheet. The seven players who have the lowest handicap comprise the club team. In addition, there may be two alternate players who are able to earn points Alternate players may be substituted for a team member who is unable to play. Additional players who sign up may play behind the club teams or fill in for another team but cannot earn points.
FORMAT & SCORING
Teams from 4 clubs compete against each other. Stroke play format. Players use their full handicap up to a 36-stroke allowance. Based on the player’s score, points are awarded individually and figured into the total team score. A trophy is awarded to the club team who has accrued the most points throughout the season.
The two players from each club who earned the most individual points throughout the season are invited to participate in an individual championship at the end of the season

PlayDayContests
RYDER CUP (OCTOBER 31ST)
Players are divided into two-teams (Orange Team vs Purple Team) Teams play in pairings in match play format. The pairing who wins the match receives one point for their team and ties split the point. The team with the most points is the winner.
INDIVIDUAL SKINS NET CONTEST
Played in twosomes Each hole is worth one “skin” and the net winner of each hole gets the skin. If no one wins the hole the skin is carried over to the next hole and is now worth two skins and so on; until someone wins the hole. The player with the most skins is the winner. If there is a tie at the end of 18 holes, play continues until the tie is broken.
YELLOW BALL CONTEST
Teams are composed of three players. Each team member plays the yellow ball for the entire hole, then passes the yellow ball to another player at the next hole, and so on. The net score for the yellow ball is recorded for each hole and then tallied at the end of the round. The team with the lowest net yellow ball score is the winner. If the yellow ball is lost, the team cannot replace it and will be eliminated from the tournament.
TEAM TOTAL NET CONTEST
This is a contest between two teams, Team A and Team B. It is played in twosomes. On each hole, players record their net score The team score is determined by tabulating the single lowest net score on each hole among the team’s players. The team that has the lowest total net score is the winner.
PlayDayContests
CRISSCROSS CONTEST
After playing 18 holes, the player picks the best net score for Hole #1 or Hole #10, Hole #2 or Hole #11, etc. The player with the lowest 9-hole score is the winner. There is a winner from both A and B Groups.
