Classroom for Years 2-6 coming soon

Please be aware that Jolly Classroom only provides lessons for Jolly Phonics Steps 1, 2 and 3 and Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation for Year 1 currently. Years 2-6 are coming soon!

Our foundation stage programme teaches the 5 key skills needed for reading and writing.

Children learn the letter sounds, letter formation, blending, segmenting, and tricky words.

The programme uses a multi-sensory approach, appealing to a wide range of learning styles, and can be adapted easily to specific learning needs.

It is the foundation for our Jolly Literacy programmes, which are introduced from Year 1.

This builds on Jolly Phonics and offers two six-level programmes with resources covering Years 1 to 6.

Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation provides two lessons a week. It teaches new spelling patterns, dictionary and thesaurus skills, and complex grammatical concepts in an engaging and child-friendly way.

Reading Comprehension & Writing Skills provides two further weekly lessons. In the first, children explore a variety of rich texts that interweave the spelling, vocabulary and grammar learned earlier that week. The second lesson uses those texts as a springboard for stimulating ideas and introducing strategies to promote independent writing.

Little Word Books

Perfect for developing blending fluency

These Little Word Books provide a gradual and structured start for children who are just beginning to read. They give children the opportunity to apply their letter-sound knowledge and improve their ability to blend words fluently.

The words for blending cover the 42 letter sounds across fourteen books. There are two books for each letter-sound group, which have decodable words that only use the sounds for that group and below.

The beautifully illustrated pages can also be used to stimulate discussion and build vocabulary.

Jolly Literacy

Jolly Literacy offers two six-level programmes with resources covering Years 1 to 6.

Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation (formerly Jolly Grammar) provides two lessons a week. It teaches new spelling patterns, dictionary and thesaurus skills and complex grammatical concepts in an engaging and child-friendly way.

This programme offers a systematic, progressive approach to teaching these areas, introducing more spelling patterns and new grammatical concepts, such as parts of speech, sentence structure, and punctuation marks. Children also expand on their vocabulary and comprehension skills, and develop dictionary and thesaurus skills.

Teaching is multi-sensory and active, with actions, activities and songs. Each year of teaching also provides revision and consolidation of learning from previous years.

Together, they offer a perfect package, giving young children the skills they need to become confident readers and enthusiastic writers.

Jolly Literacy can be taught in a variety of ways!

Who is Jolly English for?

Jolly English is an English language course that has been carefully developed and sequenced for pre-school children who have little or no knowledge of English.

Join Inky Mouse and her friends, Snake and Bee, as they discover new words and phrases using songs, games, chants and stories that bring the course to life and develop children’s English language. Can be used before or alongside Jolly Phonics, or as a standalone early learner’s English language course.

This comprehensive course enables teachers to embed essential English vocabulary and develop pupils’ awareness of the sounds of the English language. Vocabulary is introduced gradually and the introduction of phonics concepts is systematic, laying the foundations for the Jolly Phonics programme.

At Ishraq High School, we understand the importance of a strong foundation in English, especially since many of our students start with little to no background in the language. To address this, we have implemented the Jolly Phonics program, which has been a cornerstone of our English language instruction for over a decade.

The positive outcomes speak for themselves. Our students now enter Grade 1 with a solid foundation in English, and both teachers and students appreciate the engaging and effective nature of the Jolly Phonics and Jolly English programs. Najwa Noueihed, Ishraq High School, Lebanon

The Jolly Phonics App

The Jolly Phonics App is a comprehensive app that provides lessons for each of the 42 letter sounds, including alternative spellings and tricky words.

It includes easy-to-follow plans, enabling teachers to deliver lessons that embed the key skills for reading and writing.

This app is also extremely popular with parents due to its ease-of-use and interactive activities, such as games and flashcards.

The Jolly Phonics App has been installed on almost 10 million devices and is one of our most popular digital resources!

What I like most about the resources is the app that you download on your phone because it’s a tool you can use in the classroom and that parents can use at home. This means that what you teach in the class is being consolidated at home further. This is what makes it an amazing tool for us!
