I never thought much about religion or god until a certain day in 1989 when I heard someone say something that in all frankness I had never even considered. His question started in the form of a statement of fact that to the people of ancient Greece in the time of Alexander the so-called "Great" characters like "Zeus", "Apollo", "Dionysus" were not of myth or fiction but gods whom they worshiped like "Christians" now a days worship God and Jesus Christ. Like us they too build temples to those who they believed to be Gods and feared their castigation if they did not worship. This was something which my historical knowledge confirmed but his point was how did we know if sometime in the future, let's say in 2,000 years from that day or even today people would not be looking back on our time like we look back on the time of the ancient Greeks and say about us what we say about them; that there was a time long, long ago when man used to worship what can be called "the Judeo-Christian God" and even believed that a carpenter's son was the Messiah sent by this god on some sort of mission to save their souls. Maybe by then humanity will have developed a completely new religion or in my esteem if no where else the best faith of all and that being the one in itself and its possibilities that no longer look up or down to any all powerful being but to him or herself to determine what the correct path is for not only him or herself as individuals but his species as a whole. I am often told that man needs to believe in something greater then himself weather it be one god or another but I have yet to hear a good reason that would convince me that this be case. Humanity has been able to accomplish the extraordinary in its time on this planet we call earth; not all of it being deeds of good but in what could be classified as our limitations we have been able to travel outside our own planet, create technology and works of art of true wonder which in my opinion if in nobody else's match that of anything that might have been created by any god "false" or "true" yet in all this we are told we need to believe in something "greater" then ourselves. This to my interpretation is that what we are being told is that; we as humans are capable of creating (without any assistance from any deities real or otherwise) that which is of a wonder but we are not capable of guiding our own lives with regards to how we behave or treat our fellow man. Some even claiming that true good can only come when done in God's name which I wonder if this included the "Inquisition" or

"Crusades". I am very often asked a question I consider to be irrelevant which is if I believe in God or not. First reason I consider this question as such is because there are two possibilities and only two. The first one, God exists and if he does my disbelieve in him (or her should that be the case) will not eliminate him; the second one, God (Judeo-Christian) does not exist and if that were the reality then my believe in him will not create him anymore then the faith of the ancient Greeks created "Zeus" or that of the Vikings created "Odin". Perhaps the question I along with other people should be asked is weather or not we think God exists because if we follow the basis of logic would it not be correct to first ascertain weather or not what we have put our faith in even exits. I for my part do not know if God exists or not and I do not give credence to anybody who claims he or she does based on their believe or lack of which as sometimes it is longing to do so that makes people see what is not or ignore what is. To some this may make me one who is being convenient in not wanting to take sides until the right time but this is not though I have not proof with regard to this why I claim not to know. I consider myself to be an "agnostic" in saying that maybe there is a so called "superior force"; maybe there is not but I have not seen enough evidence let alone proof to sway me in either direction and though the bible is well written it to my mind does not constitute proof of anything. Of course in all this argument we could ask what does it mean "to believe" in God? Does it mean we accept his existence like most of us today accept that the world we live in is round though how many of us have seen this with our own eyes. Or does believe in God mean we follow his commands like the bible claims we should? Or maybe it means we worship him; placing him so high above ourselves that we are not even worthy of him who supposedly created us? Perhaps this is the real issue because as those who have read the bible can testify even "Lucifer" has no alternative but to belief in God's existence for how could he not since according to the bible it was God who created him but as the bible also claims Lucifer the "Fallen Angel" did not worship him. My personal believe based upon what I do know; not as a writer or author but as a human being is that God is "What Should Not Matter" to us (regardless of weather he be real or not) of the human race but what should is humanity itself and its higher ideals which to my seeing do not come from God. It is hard to put ones ideas specially those that are not simple in to any phrase or group of which but if I were to do so it would be by saying that I believe in doing what we in our mind know to be right for the "love of humanity" not God and good for it's own sake which would lead us to a kinder world. I unlike most people even those who claim to be believers have read the whole bible; mutually "Old Testament" and "New Testament" and found nothing in it that made me come to the conclusion that God had to exist or that if he did he had to be a god of mercy or compassion or love for that matter. Many from reading this may get the notion that it is in favor of Lucifer that I advocate but this I do not do anymore then I do in God's favor for I believe both these beings to be one in the same who while they pretend to be enemies are in fact working together to torture humanity; one by punishing it and the other by constantly tempting it so the first might have an excuse to punish it. Of course all this being based upon weather or not there be more truth in the Judeo-Christian bible then there be in the other faiths which at one time were considered as such but are now looked upon as mere mythology as opposed to theology.
