Dubai, Pearl of the Middle-East - A New Experience Awaits!

Experience Dubai (August 2019 - January 2020)

Singapore - Dubai has long been a popular international tourist destination for Western and European holiday makers. From the middle income to the rich and famous, Dubai offers a unique experience for every visitor if you know how to uncover its hidden treasures in the sand.

As Asian economies grow stronger, Singaporean tourist arrivals to Dubai have increased dramatically over the span of just 5 years. Tourists from Asia account for more than 58% arrivals. And out of that 58%, 9% were from Singapore.

The reason why Singapore is chosen as the launch pad of a massive US $200 million dollar rebranding campaign is due to the country’s persistent economic growth and wealth overtaking other countries in the region as well as strong government support for businesses. Dubai is also looking to build stronger business relations with Singapore in addition to tourism.

The Dubai rebranding 6 months campaign starting from August 2019 - January 2020 might seem short in terms of trying to influence and change tourist mindsets of Dubai being an attractive holiday destination but this is just the tip of the iceberg. If successful, the campaign in Singapore will be extended for a further 2 years and similar campaigns will be rolled out to cover other countries in the region including China.

The campaign has the key message of “Dubai, Pearl of the Middle-East - A New Experience Awaits!”, introducing the exotic country as THE premium holiday destination Page 1 of 3


for new Singaporean travellers. And for those who have been to Dubai, it’ll be a different experience for them. The campaign has 3 Phases.

Phase 1 - Tourism Establishment (1 Month; August 2019)

This phase will see the Soft Launch of the following:

1. Dubai, Pearl of the Middle-East microsite: https://www.dubaipearl.com

2. Accompanying Social Media accounts listed on microsite: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Youtube, Weibo and blog.

3. Massive tour promotions and tie ins with Singapore and Dubai tour agencies and for tour packages signed up via the microsite.

4. Selected influential Travel and Lifestyle Bloggers are given a all expanses paid trip to Dubai and share their genuine experience.

5. Billboards and MRT advertising of campaign will be launched and displayed over a 1 month period.

Phase 2 - Events and Media Strategy (5 Months; September 2019 - January 2020) This phase will see the Official Launch of the following:

1. Exhibition at MBS, Key Launch Event

Media invites for Press Coverage and VIPs include well known Dubai business leaders based in Singapore, Singapore Prime Minister, Dubai’s Ambassador to Singapore and other Singaporean business leaders who already have a stake in Dubai.

2. Press Conference and live TV coverage of launch event

3. Digital & Social Media campaign launch - Visit the Dubai Pearl website for further details and monthly content updates including a contest with a chance to win an all expanses paid trip for 3!

4. Paid 5 part 30 minutes TV mini-series on ordinary Singaporeans travelling to Dubai for the first time. Following an ordinary Singaporean family, couple and singles.

5. Social Media contest details, Vlogs, Live Facebook videos, weekly blog and website updates. Follow Dubai Pearl and avid Singaporean bloggers as they uncover treasures in the sands of Dubai, post trip.

Phase 3 - Trade Exhibition: Jan 2020 The Official Launch of Singapore and Dubai business opportunities Trade show in Singapore Expo. More details will be released via the Dubai Pearl website.
