Study Abroad Experience + Exhibitions .11 spring Smart Geometry Workshop+Symposium (Performing Skins Cluster) -Copenhagen, Denmark The Smart Geometry Workshop is an annual conference held at various locales worldwide to investigate and research concepts in digital architecture and design. Participants during the workshop/exhibition/symposium, lasting 6 days are encouraged to research and develop concepts and techniques within digital design to be presented during the final days of the conference. Specifically, the Performing Skins cluster challenges the participants to investigate and fabricate 3-dimensional knitted surfaces with interactive and responsive properties, employing parametric design tools to tailor specific functions to a particular design issue outlined within individual groups. .09 summer Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition-London, England The Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition is the largest open contemporary art exhibition in the world, drawing together a wide range of new work by both established and unknown living artists. Held annually since the Royal Academy’s foundation in 1768, the Summer Exhibition is a unique showcase for art of all styles and media, encompassing painting, sculpture, prints and architectural models. An essential part of the London art calendar, the show draws over 150,000 visitors during its three month long run. .07 summer Architectural Association Summer Exhibition-London, England The Architectural Association School of Architecture Summer Exhibition is an annual student exhibition featuring a selection of student works from the previous academic year. .06 fall London Studio at the Architectural Association-London, England The London Studio involved courses at the Architectural Association that engaged investigations into the dynamics and implications of the various marketplace organizations within the urban fabric of central London. .06 summer Project 4 Gallery-Washington D.C. Wild Bits Project 4 gallery featured an exhibition on Experiments in Generative Models at PennDesign which featured work of students involving techniques in scripting in relationship to form. .06 spring China Design Studio-Chengde, Beijing, Shanghai China Design Studio developed proposals for a city planning strategy to address growth issues and development within the ancient city of Chengde, located in the northeast region of China in the Hebei Province. .05 summer Japan Summer Studio-Honshu, Japan Japan Summer Studio studied traditional and contemporary Japanese architectural building techniques, details, spaces, and philosophies. Visits and workshops were arranged to allow student to gain a wider understanding of the principles of design across the country by reaching destinations that span to Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Okinawa, Miyajima, Hiroshima & Awaji Island. *Further references will provided upon request
