Session One 9:45-10:45 Benefits of Mountain Biking: Brian Smith Mountain biking is one of the fastest growing outdoor recreation activities in the world. What exactly motivates people in eastern Virginia to mountain bike? We will highlight the findings of this research and explore what has been done, and what could be done to continue to grow the sport of mountain biking in Hampton Roads.
Session Two 11-11:45 Dream Ride Projects: Mike Ridgeway “Adventures of a Naive Cyclist� From a 1992 parimmiter tour of the USA that brought awareness to critical health issues facing our nation, to the creation of a event fundraising platform for organizations that has raised millions of dollars to affect social change and community improvement. This discussion will bring to light the need for genuine collaboration and the teamwork thats needed for our culture to move forward together.
Session Three 1:45-2:45 Panel Discussion: Susan Wilson, Wayne Wilcox, Paul Fillion What are the biggest challenges you foresee preventing the process of making the city and region more bicycle-friendly? What type of partnerships & funding is needed to help make the city, region, state, and nation more bicycle-friendly? What type of progress do you see the city, region and state making in the next one, five, and 10 years? Learn the answers to questions like these and more during our regional panel discussion forum with several city transportation, recreation and bicycling civic leaders.
Session Four 3-4:00 Panel Discussion Continued Small Group Breakout Session Breakouts are one of the most powerful vehicles for engaging participants and we welcome you to join in this open session breakout group to get down to the key issues that we are facing as a region regarding transportation, infrastructure, economics and all things bicycle or multi modal related.

Session One 9:45-10:45 Safe Routes Bicycle Rodeo; Katie M. & Chad T. SRTS programs examine conditions around schools and conduct projects and activities that work to improve safety and accessibility, and reduce traffic and air pollution in the vicinity of schools. Learn how Hampton Roads Schools are making a difference in your child's transportation future.
Session Two 11-11:45 Keeping children safe in traffic: Georjeane Blumling It is important to teach our children good bike safety rules as they begin to join the biking community. It is also important that adult drivers are aware of the differences in how children view traffic and how that view can put them in danger as they take to the road as both pedestrians and on bicycles. This session will give a child's eye view of traffic and how we as drivers need to raise our awareness to keep them safe.
Session Three 1:45-2:45 Pedal Up to Clean Up: John Deuel Pedaling For A Cleaner America is uniting cyclists and citizens to make America’s roadways cleaner, friendlier and safer. Join John Deuel LIVE while he is part way through his transamerica ride from the West Coast via a video conference hosted by Keep America Beautiful. This is destined to be true “Game Changer” experience you won't want to miss!
Session Four 3-4:00 Bike Sharing- Riide: Allyson B. & Amber W. A comprehensive review of ODU’s bike share program as a proven solution for student transportation. Also learn and how local cities are following suite with their own employee Bike Sharing Systems & how strategic partnerships can strengthen the “community fabric” with the use of minimum grid networks and electric assist bicycles like Northern Virginia's RIIDE platform.

Session One 9:45-10:45 GIS Navigation & Exploration Course Dont sit around too long because your crank may start to rust. This session is focused on efficient movement practices through geo spatial co-linear & tangential travel. We will use ancient and advanced mapping and cartographic techniques for plotting potential bicycle routes that will redirect the course of regional transit flow.
Session Two 11-11:45 Green Infrastructure course Green infrastructure is an approach that communities can choose to maintain healthy waters, provide multiple environmental benefits and support sustainable communities. Learn about HUB infrastructure & more.
Session Three 1:45-2:45 Film & Fashion Show Join us for an interactive performance with #locallove, Reckless Clothing and other fashion designers as we watch “With My Own Two Wheels” a documentary film exemplifying the global importance of the bicycle and how it has impacted the lives of its users. Session Four 3-4:00 Health & Wellness Workshop Its been a long day and now its time to sit back and relax. Listen while we hear local stories about how bicycling can positively change your life. With free massage therapy and other health and wellness experts from the region this final session will get you ready for our Keynote speaker and loosened up for our group ride.
