Not only are they separated from their parents or guardians; they are separated from their brothers and sisters. The bonds forged out of supporting one another through hard times are broken, their sense of belonging and identity is diminished and many suffer from loneliness and separation anxiety. This ultimately affects the child’s educational experience and their quality of adulthood.
The YMCA delivers Siblings Reconnect at Camp Yarramundi every School Holiday for children in foster care to do what we take for granted and be a family! Siblings Reconnect camps allow the children to reconnect with each other, share new experiences, overcome challenges with each other’s support, and build the bonds of brothers and sisters.
In NSW there are over 16,000 children that have been removed from dysfunctional, abusive or neglectful families and placed in out-of-home-care.

We look forward to introducing our new practice to you and your patients.
Thank you to the 1,800 residents who participated in Council’s largest ever community consultation - Living Holroyd. It was wonderful to hear your views about the local area and how it should look over the next two decades. Thanks to your input the Draft Living Holroyd Community Strategic Plan has been developed and is now available on our website at www.holroyd.nsw.gov.au. Since our last issue of the Holroyd Herald we have won an exemption on the capping of developers contributions for the Neil Street Precinct. This is a tremendous result for Council and thecommunity. On behalf of Council I would like to thank our local members of parliament for their support during this campaign and in particular the member for Granville, David Borger, who said he is always willing to work with Holroyd City Council onissues that affect our community. Instead of inserting coins, shoppers place their empty plastic bottles or cans in the Envirobank and use the LCD touch screen to select prizes, retailer discounts or credit a charity.
