Things to do in the area . . .
Since maturing as a sophisticated international destination in the 1980s, Port Douglas has emerged as a community where all walks of life mingle unobtrusively at the numerous cafés, restaurants, galleries and boutiques lining the famous Macrossan Street.
In the laid back tropical oasis of Port Douglas, world class golf, game fishing, diving and sailing are a way of life. Each day you can choose from an adventure to the pristine waters of the Coral Sea, the crystal creeks of Mossman Gorge, and the palm fringed golden sands of Four Mile Beach, Daintree Rainforest walks, and diving and snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef.
FOUR MILE BEACH.
Walkers take to Four Mile Beach in their tens and hundreds but you will never feel crowded. On low tide the beach can be over 100 metres wide. We often enjoy the presence of dolphins, turtles and dugongs on our morning walks.
TWO WORLD HERITAGE LISTED
AREAS. The Great Barrier Reef is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Port Douglas provides access to the most pristine reef systems. The Daintree Rainforest is the world’s oldest Rainforest with the single first plant origin being found inside the now national park in the late 1990’s.
WALK. Walk to the Port Douglas lookout on the Flagstaff Hill Walking Trail around the peninsula, from Four Mile Beach to Rex Smeal Park. If you need a picture worth framing look no further than the Flagstaff Hill Lookout. Located at the summit of Island Point Rd, witness sweeping, majestic views of Four Mile Beach and the rainforest-clad mountain ranges to the south. Venture along the Flagstaff Hill Walking Trail down to Four Mile Beach and walk onto the viewing platform, taking in the 180-degree views to the Coral Sea, Low Isles and Snapper Island to the north.
Lunch and bar by day, restaurant and cocktail hotspot by night. Alfresco or indoor dining. Lunch, dinner and late-night bar. From 2pm daily.
