Celebrating women and girls in science

Celebrating Women and Girls in Science The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is a United Nations holiday to recognize the critical role women and girls play in science and technology communities, celebrated annually on February 11. To mark this year’s International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we asked three of our very own female scientists to share their journey to success in science and give their advice to women aspiring to work in the field. Mary Kay celebrates them along with all the women and girls in science every day, not just on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science!

Dr. Bridgette January, Director, Product Formulation with Mary Kay Inc. At an early age, I had an innate curiosity about how things in nature worked. My favorite courses in high school were Biology and Chemistry, and my Chemistry teacher told me that I was smart. His encouragement made me believe that I could do anything. I’m so fortunate to have had people who supported me and encouraged me along the way. My advice to young girls is to focus on your talents and believe in yourself.
