lighting up a conversation
EXPLANATION
northern light is a platform that demonstraits levels and patterns of vocal interaction in the form of light on a ceiling.
DESCRIPTION
during an event the ceiling would glow based on the amount of vocal interaction accruing. patterns of speech would be displayed in the amount of light and pattern of it.
AUDIENCE
people at an event, conference, or gallery
developments: visuals
refinements I changed laugh light to northern light because vocal noise is more recognizable then laughter. Awkward silences would be more visible. New constraints of vocal noises rather than laughter. This is also meant for a social situation so that people are comfortable they. How does this idea transfer to visuals? What is the space/event? or is it a specific space that does not change? What does this light look like? group of dots, organic, how is this visual
final visual
reflection I really liked this project. I dicovered that I really enjoy the brainstorming process. I always have but I really focused heavily on that aspect. I also realized that I love colaboration. I enjoyed that part of Think Make and during this project was reminded of that time. Worked in small groups to brainstorm and problem solve together helped me realize I work really well in that type of environment. I thought that the process for this project was helpful. Trying out a new way of thinking was refreshing. That being said, the project as a whole proved to be difficult. I found it really hard to transfer my ideas into an visual form so that everyone could understand what I meant. I feel like am pretty good at explaingin myself vocally. So having to explain myself in a visual form was challenging when what I had designed did not exist yet or was far to out there for me to create. Over all I really liked the project. I really like the process but I struggled with the visual aspect and communicating my ideas in that way.
