Ford Mustang Once Again Named World’s Best-Selling Sports Coupe
F
or the seventh year in a row, the Ford Mustang has been named the world’s best-selling sports coupe, according to the Ford analysis of registration data from S&P Global Mobility. “When enthusiasts around the world get into a Mustang, they unlock that feeling of freedom and experience the open road,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, Ford Blue. “That feeling, along with iconic design, awesome powertrains and a passionate global community all contribute to making Mustang a sales leader for the seventh year in a row.” According to Ford internal data, the USA remains home to the strongest demand for the Mustang as it represents 76-percent of its global sales while other markets such as New Zealand, Brazil and South Korea saw significant growth in sales. Mustang sales are, of course, led by the 5.0L V8 version but are also augmented by Mustang Mach 1 and the track-ready Mustang Shelby GT500. Five new special editons of the Mustang are set to launch this year as well as eight new colour options, as it sets out on its quest for eight in a row. MUSCLE CAR PLUS MAGAZINE JUNE/JULY 2022

Story by Dan Heyman The arrival of a full-bore “V” version of the Escalade probably shouldn’t come as much of a surprise; after all, the Escalade has been one of the brand’s bestsellers for quite some time now, so you could see how a performance version could fit. Perhaps more surprising was just how long it took to arrive; Jeep has been churning out hi-po SRT versions of their Grand Cherokee for years, as have the Germans of their offerings. Now, the ‘Lade is an interesting study in that it kind of walks the line across two segments with a shortand long wheelbase version. Both Mercedes and BMW have a three-row model line above their two-row offerings, while Cadillac makes all of the Escalades three-row vehicles, with one – the ESV – getting a longer wheelbase and stretching longer overall. So, in a way, it has to fight a battle on two fronts. Which could be why a performance version hasn’t come to fruition until now, though Cadillac will tell you that their market research shows that only now is the time. So it goes that for 2023, we’re getting both an Escalade and Escalade ESV with a 6.2-litre supercharged V8, built in the same place they build Corvettes: Bowling Green, KY. That’s just the engine, though; the vehicle itself will continue to be built at the Arlington Assembly in Texas. In order to keep everything in check, engine internals including the pistons, rods and cylinders have been beefed up. Power is rated at 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque, making the Escalade V the most powerful full-size SUV you can get, anywhere. Heck, it makes more power even than the likes of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, though the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid beats it on the torque front. Nevertheless; Cadillac claims those figures (plus a specially-tuned 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD) are enough to complete the 0-96 km/h sprint in 4.4 seconds and the quarter mile in 12.74 seconds at 177 km/h. Those aren’t simply performance SUV numbers; those are stretching into proper sports car territory. Not too far in, however; asked about the possibility of a “Blackwing” version of the Escalade to bring it in-line with the recently released CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing sedans, GM was quick to point out that while “V” does mean “performance” above all else, “Blackwing” is yet another cut above that, aimed more at folks who may want to track their Caddys. That’s not really the purview of an SUV weighing in at over two tonnes, no matter how much power you give it. Although you may be able to do some damage at the drag strip, provided you upgrade to some stickler rubber; Cadillac has stuck with three-season Bridgestone rubber for the Escalade V as opposed to switching to summer performance rubber. This is, after all, still a luxury SUV meant to work as an everyday vehicle, first and foremost. The rubber and wheels are complemented by the standard fitment of an electronic limited-slip differential as well as self-adjusting magnetic dampers. Those can also be individually set and accessed via the wheel-mounted V-button. In addition to the suspension, the exhaust note, powertrain response, steering, brake pedal feel and response and AWD system can all be set and accessed via that same button. If you just want to lope comfortably around town in your luxury cruiser, selecting “Tour” – that joins Sport and Snow/Ice as the other baked-in drive modes – softens everything, though Cadillac is saying that as speeds increase, the V will feel more committed than other Escalades, even in Tour mode. Style-wise, the V benefits from unique 22-inch wheels shrouding red Brembo brake calipers with six pistons up front, blacked-out grille, quad tailpipes, V-Series badging inside and out and lowered suspension for a purposeful look. Inside, optional “zebra wood” inserts do well to compliment the semi-aniline leather, and a 36-speaker AKG audio system comes as standard. Of course, you can’t look at this Escalade’s dash – or that of any other Escalade, for that matter – and not notice the 38-inch curved OLED display that dominates the proceedings, just as it does on the Platinumspec model on which the V is based. Indeed, it’s rivalled only by Mercedes-EQ’s Hyperscreen when it comes to overall size and in the V, it gets special gauge cluster graphics to further drive the point home that you’re in a special ‘Lade. GM’s proprietary Super Cruise autonomous tech will also be available, but will count as one of the few options you can spec for the V, which comes pretty much loaded at base. It also comes in pretty short supply; the Escalade V is going to be a very limited-run choice when it goes on sale later this year. So if you’re thinking that this is the way you’ll want to go, it’s our suggestion that you make it down to your local Cadillac dealership toute suite.

Six Shooter 1929 Dodge DA Sport Roadster
N
ot every day, or even every car show, do you see a 1929 Dodge roadster or even any early Dodge car. When you run a restoration/hot rod shop, it is not even every two decades a 1929 Dodge comes in for some minor upgrades and paint and you end up entering it in the Grand National Roadster Show to compete in the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster competition. The journey of this little Dodge DA Sports Roadster is quite incredible and, when this car was new, it had so many improvements on what Ford was turning out. The 1929 DA series of cars was the first under the new owners of Dodge, the Chrysler Corporation. Many styling cues were taken from Chryslers, and the long slide of the Dodge Brothers products’ popularity seemed to be stemmed. 1929 saw Dodge move from 13th place up to 7th place among the many American auto manufacturers building cars. Many of those manufacturers would not survive the depression of the ‘30s. Interestingly, both of the Dodge Brothers died in the Flu pandemic that hit the world 100 years before Covid-19.
Story by Jellybean AutoCrafters, photos by Cam Hutchins
There were some features that were innovative back in the day. They were the first mass-produced cars that used all-steel bodies, with no wooden supporting inner structures like many other manufacturers. Advertising of the time stated this ‘monopiece’ body construction resulted in a ‘squeak-proof, rattle-proof and strong’ car. To further reduce vibration, Dodge was among the first American cars to have rubber engine mounts, if not the first. The cars also have 12-volt electrical systems, and four-wheel hydraulic brakes. Hydraulic brakes did not appear on Fords for another decade, and the 6-volt electrics on Fords stuck well into the fifties. All the DA cars - sedans, four-door convertibles and roadsters - rode on a 108inch wheelbase and were powered, or underpowered, by a 208 cu. in. straight six-cylinder, producing a whopping 63 horsepower, backed by a 3-speed manual transmission, for a top speed of 55 mph. The car weighed around 2,700 lbs., and was priced in the $1,000 range, depending on body style, varying no more than 65 bucks either way. The Ford Model A of the time cost half that much, and even had less horsepower. Comparisons to the Ford Model A are fair, because with the DA’s upright grille it may be confused for a Ford from a distance, but the Ford lacks the sweeping flowing lines of the Dodge’s coachwork. There were just over 120,000 1929 Dodge DA’s built compared to almost 5 million Model A’s built from 1927 to 1931. A couple of things not in common with the two cars is the very narrow frame up front on the Dodge and the complete lack of aftermarket parts for the Dodge compared to almost any Ford of any year! One of the first things that needed to be fixed when the car arrived at Jellybean Autocrafters was that the front suspension was too high. It already had a drop axle, but it needed work. The owner was also interested in a Dodge V8 replacing the existing Dodge 6-cylinder. Two things became evident - the frame was very narrow up front, so having a V8 meant not having the sides on the hood, which the owner was not keen on. The second was the original engine had been replaced with a more modern replacement block from a 1953 250 cu. in. Straight-6 Canadian Plymouth engine. Some performance parts were available for the Dodge 6-bangers from the ‘50s but one had to really search for those parts. The front suspension is a highly modified TCI Ford Model A front suspension with almost every piece cut, shortened or remanufactured by Jellybean. The 1929

damaged while being polished at an outside shop. Again Jellybean had to reapply for another head, but were told no more were being made. They asked about any of the rejected castings, could they get one and repair it? Although all the rejects had already been melted down, Peter sold them one of his own personal heads. The new head boosted the They are individually hand cast and then machined and look very much engine’s compression to 8.5 to 1, quite a boost from the stock 1929 like era-correct speed equipment. He was not going to sell them to someone that was going to “Hot Rod” an engine. Luckily someone else on the forum saw what was going on and bought the manifolds and then sold them to Jellybean for this car. A hand-built, stainless steel dual exhaust system with resonators, satin finished, is on the car. Other cool parts come as knowledge from Tony Montana, who was involved in the Peking to Paris race in an old Dodge. He had a similar engine and had invested in getting a camshaft ground for better performance and was able to share his knowledge for this car. Another competitor from the Peking to Paris was able to share the best of pistons for this type of engine. After final blueprinting and balancing, the engine now puts out a respectable 153 horsepower on a car that originally weighed 2,700 pounds and now has many aluminum or lightweight parts. Among those lightweight parts are the limited edition Thickston aluminum side plates that are removed to adjust the valves. The crew at Jellybean 12 MUSCLE CAR PLUS MAGAZINE JUNE/JULY 2022

year, it was said that this year was the toughest competition as far back a they could recall. It was a hat trick for Jellybean who had shown cars twice before at the Grand National Roadster show, but never for the A.M.B.R. award. The little Dodge would be competing against cars that were in the $23,000,000 build range. The Jellybean crew decided to up the game, and built “one off” wheels for this special little car to be used only at the show (and for the included photos). Using their family’s history as wagon wheel makers in Paraguay, Jellybean created a line of bespoke wheels dubbed “Roat” or “wheel” in their grandpa’s language, Low German. After careful judging at the show, the Dodge DA roadster won second place....but to be fair, all the cars that did not win the A.M.B.R. award win second place. hand built the cradle to hold the custom built throttle pivot, oil filter and coil, as well as hand built throttle linkage, pivot, and rods. A copper radiator was custom built, as well as special prop rods to hold the hood sides up while on display.
Being the first time crossing the border since Covid, it was quite an experience going to the Grand National Roadster show. There were major border delays which affected the trip by over one day and made them late for the main photo shoots of the AMBR contenders, but they made it in plenty of time before the show opened. Being all the way from the Far North, the promoters gave them a prime spot, with great visibility as soon as you enter the hall. Most competitors are Fords with some Chevrolets, but rarely a Dodge, so it got a lot of attention from the spectators and entrants. Many onlookers were convinced it was going to be the winner.
The transmission and rearend are the same as when the car arrived in the shop, a mid ‘60s Mustang 8-inch and a 5-speed “World Class” manual transmission out of a Chevy S-10 pickup with hydraulic clutch. The transmission got a complete rebuild using the last main shaft available and has a ‘50s era shifter ball. Although touted as the first massproduced all-steel car, these Dodge DA’s came with wooden floors. That was replaced with an all-steel floor that, of course, was hand-made due Although not the winner of the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster competo no aftermarket pieces being available. tition, this little Dodge did Canada proud by just getting to compete, and this will always be part of this car’s legacy. The interior trimming on the doors and seats was done by Stytch Upholstery, with carpet done by STS Auto Interior. The interior includes a Flaming River stainless steel tilt steering column with a 1940 Ford steering wheel, and has a bluetooth stereo. The dash came in with the car, as did the gauges. When it was decided they were going to enter the car to compete in the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster competition at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, CA, the crew at Jellybean crossed their fingers and waited to see if they would be accepted. hen H. B. “Toby” Halicki wrote, directed, produced and acted in the 1974 classic “Gone in 60 Seconds,” little did he know he was going to start a whole genre of custom cars three decades later. Of course, the original movie featured a completely stock-appearing 1971 Mustang (see sidebar) with the poverty caps or dogdish hubcaps and no signs of flash...but it really was a NASCAR chassis with a Mustang body on top. The car was thrashed, crashed, jumped and smashed throughout the movie...or driven exactly how any Father imagines their 17 year-old drives the family car. The movie was a success for a “B” movie and later on, he tried to produce a sequel in 1989, but died during filming due to an accident on set. His wife teamed up with Touchstone Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer to produce a remake. One of the only similarities was the naming of the cars to be stolen with female names....and it was one female name in particular that stands out...Eleanor. For the 1973 movie, the last year of the big Mustang was featured as Eleanor, but for the 2000 remake, a 1968 Shelby GT500 RestoMod was featured as Eleanor. Completely over the top with lots of go, show and all the civilized comforts expected, the 2000 “Eleanor” was a huge hit and everyone wanted one. Companies sprung up to produce kits to turn your Mustang of pretty much any year into an “Eleanor” and even some companies produced turn-key models for sale. Halicki’s wife slammed these copyright infringements with lawsuits...but the dream lived on with a few completely over-thetop “Eleanors” being produced, including Dean Robinson’s 1967 Mustang notchback created by Rags to Riches Top Shop in Surrey, B.C. Robinson found the Mustang donor car on Craigslist and was going to built a resto mod that would remind him of the 1965 Mustang his 26 MUSCLE CAR PLUS MAGAZINE JUNE/JULY 2022

Under the hood there is a Ford 390 V8 bored out to 430 cu. in., complete with Edelbrock aluminum heads, Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, FAST electronic fuel injection and a full surface K&N air cleaner. The engine compartment has been fully detailed and smoothed with a custom-built two-piece rad support and upper valence as well as a Ring Brothers Monte Carlo Bar/Export brace system. The mill is backed by a Tremec TKO 5000 five-speed manual transmission using a Centerline Clutch in a Lakewood bellhousing and a custom one-off aluminum driveshaft. The Ford 9-inch positraction diff has a 3.9 ratio and is kept in place by a Total Control suspension unit using near horizontal coilover shocks.
Robinson gave free rein to the shop, Rags to Riches Top Shop, to be creative and come up with some great improvements. One of the most obvious is the rear taillights, but if you know where to look, you will find a huge number of improvements to the “Brand.” No part of The front suspension is also a Total Control independent unit with the kit was left alone, with all pieces being tweaked or completely tubular upper and lower control arms, sway bar, power rack-andremade. The front of the car includes new fibreglass fenders with pinion steering, and Baer/Shelby four-piston calipers with drilled

and slotted rotors at all four corners. The wheels are 19x8-inch Dub Firewire C12 up front and 20x10-inch on the back. Nitto Invo tires do a great job cornering and also sending “smoke signals” to everyone that this is a Bad Assed “Eleanor.” The inside shows this car was built by a company that has its roots in custom interiors for almost 40 years, and the complete interior is a show piece of the passion and skills of Martin Collins and Lyle Gregerson, his head trimmer. A custom-fabbed steel dashboard was created in-house and trimmed in Charcoal Grey Dragonfly leather. The Flaming River tilt steering column is painted body colour, and the Momo steering wheel is wrapped in black leather.
There is push-button start as well as remote actuators throughout the car, and a custom-built centre console with four stainless steel cup holders. For cruising tunes, a Pioneer 1,500-watt Double DIN head unit plays through four 6.5-inch speakers in cabin as well as some trunk-mounted goodies. The fibreglass lower body kit got
The car is not just about massive “Go;” the creature comforts are also present and accounted for. Vintage Air/Heat, power windows, custom Recaro seats wrapped in the same Charcoal Grey Dragonfly leather as the dash and the “Cobra” logo on the bolsters. Also wrapped in leather are the custom fibreglass door panels, armrests, visors, rear package tray and headliner. The floor is covered in charcoal grey cut pile carpet.
custom-built stainless steel exhaust vents and “Ring Brothers” inner door sills. The back of the car had a custom rear spoiler added along with the extra taillights. The trunk lid was finished underside with aluminum panelling, and the trunk is lined with leather and houses dual JL amps, a sub box with two JL speakers and a Nitrous Oxide bottle. This car took five years of hard work and creativity to finally become what we see here, and although it should be a pampered show queen, this “Eleanor” was built to be driven hard and that is how this Queen will rule! Oldsmobile’s performance. That was despite the fact that the 455 engine’s exhaust manifolds couldn’t be used because of the smaller ever heard of the Fournado? Then you probably never browsed body. That held the maximum horsepower to a “mere” 390, which was through the March 1968 issue of Super Stock & Drag Illustrated, more than enough to make the car fast. A torsion bar suspension aided which headlined this car with a cover blurb that read: “455-INCH FWD its sure-footedness. OLDS 442.” The story about the car inside that magazine was about an unusual Oldsmobile that had been built by Hurst Performance Modifications had to be carried out to fit the Toronado drive line and sub frame into the 442: Hurst sectioned the front fenders, moved the wheel Research. openings toward the front and relocated the radiator further forward. The According to the magazine, the Fournado was put together as a plaything for George Hurst, who owned the muscle car making company. “This time Uncle George wanted his own toy, a fast, sure-footed road car,” wrote the author. “And (he) specified an Olds 442 with front-wheel drive.” Hurst had pull at GM and the car got the Toronado’s 455-cid V8 instead of the 442’s 400-cid job. It also had the Forced-Air induction system.
N
The stock Olds 442 was about 1,000 lbs. lighter in weight than a Toronado, so the 55 extra cubic inches had a big effect on the mid-sized The restoration was a true body-off-frame operation. Toronado frame and 442 frame where joined together about halfway down the car’s wheelbase. Hurst ditched the transmission hump and gave it a flat floor. At the rear end was a solid beam axle sitting on the stock 442 coil-spring-and-trailing-arm rear suspension. The Fournado was fitted with Goodyear’s famous Blue Streak racing tires and was finished in special Hurst Gold paint.
This is how the car looked when Fred Mandrick took possession. 30 MUSCLE CAR PLUS MAGAZINE JUNE/JULY 2022
Although the Fournado retained much of the look of a stock 442, it had a 2-1/2-inch longer wheelbase than that model because the front wheels were moved forward. It also wore Toronado wheel covers. With the heavier engine, the weight distribution—on paper at least—was a big improvement over that of both the 442 and the Toronado.
A man named David Landrith, who worked for Hurst in Detroit, took ownership of the Fournado project. He created the one-of-a-kind Oldsmobile on a frame that was mostly Toronado ahead of the rear wheels. The rest of the frame was pirated from the 442 parts bin. There were some teething problems with the car’s chassis and brakes, but the engineers and designers at Hurst Performance Research took care of them handily. “The new Four Four Toronado (another nickname for the car) is superior to either a Toronado or a 442,” said the Super Stock & Drag Illustrated story. “More performance, more traction, improved cornering, better handling, added manoeuvrability, everything.”
The 455 with tighter exhaust manifolds makes “only” 390 hp.
The 455 had to be shown off at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nats in Chicago.
Fred Mandrick came to own the car and restored it. It was a big hit one past year at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (www.MCACN.com). Mandrick said that his understanding is that Oldsmobile kept ownership of the car and let Hurst drive it for around 2-1/2 years. In 1970, the Fournado was shipped to Guy Martin Oldsmobile in Woodland Hills, Calif. The dealership put the car on the cover of its April 1970 newsletter, calling it the “Baby Toronado” and used it to promote Guy Martin as the “dealer with a difference.” On Sept. 10, 1970, the car was sold to a man named William Hesse of Chatsworth, Calif. The used car warranty that Hesse received when he took possession showed the license plate number 2LG696 and said that the Fournado had 39,000 miles on the clock at that time. An invoice says that Hesse paid just $4,575 for the car and he got a trade in allowance of $350 on a 1962 Chevy he owned. He also made a down payment of $800. Hesse used the car as an everyday driver for about 16 years. He took very good care of it and kept it garaged. He lived in several different states, before moving to Oklahoma in 1976. When he stopped using the Fournado it had 116,000 miles on it.
The Fournado has Goodyear Blue Streak racing tires and special Hurst Gold paint.

Eventually, the Fournado wound up being pictured and written about in a book co-authored by Mark Fletcher, who lived in Stevens Point, Wis., at that time. Fletcher had teamed up with another automotive writer named Richard Truesdell to author the book, which was entitled Hurst Equipped: More than 50 Years of High Performance.
Mandrick called the owner from the car show’s host hotel. He must have convinced the man that he’d be the perfect owner. He wound up getting the car along with every piece of paperwork related to it including the documents we mentioned, temporary registrations, original black California plates and two of Guy Martin Oldsmobile’s newsletters. Mandrick spent most of the next year restoring the car to perfect condition.
Fred Mandrick bought a signed copy of the Hurst book at the 2012 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show and saw the Mandrake Mandrick lives in Scottsdale, Ariz. and collects high-performance Fournado pictured inside. He asked Fletcher what the owner planned Oldsmobiles of the General Motors A-body family. He has a bunch of to do with the unusual Oldsmobile. The answer was that the car’s owner wanted to sell it to the kind of person who would take good care of it the It got attention while on display at the same way he had. Fred Mandrick asked Mark Fletcher how he could Stephens Center in Rosemont, Ill.. get in touch with the owner.

He has a stash of NOS Oldsmobile parts and a garage with many neon dealership signs and a two-stall restoration shop. He even has an all-aluminum 455 topped by four Weber carburetors. Legend Lime 2006 Mustang Story and photos by John Gunnell
M
any muscle car owners are interested in knowing how many cars just like theirs were made. They may read in a Pontiac history book that 32,737 Pontiac GTO hardtops like their car were made for the 1970 model year. But then they will want to know how many had bucket seats and four-speed manual transmissions and
Ram Air III V8s. And the next question is, how many were painted Code 75 Cardinal Red with a black interior? In rare cases, some or all of these questions may have an answer, but keep this in mind. When General Motors Chairman Alfred P. Sloan wrote a book called My Years With General Motors in 1963, he pointed out that it was theoretically possible, due to the wide assortment of options and accessories offered in 1959, for Chevrolet Motor Div. to manufacture an entire year’s worth of cars without any two being 100 percent identical. When it comes to production totals of cars by colour, it usually—but not always—gets hard to come up with specific numbers. Every year, industry sources report the most popular colours. For example, in 2020, White was first in popularity, Black was second and Grey was third. These numbers are interesting, but they are not exactly what enthusiasts or collectors want to know. However, some car nuts—such as Corvette fans--have been able to come up with specific information on how many cars were built in each colour.
Mustang 50th anniversary window sticker was picked up in Charlotte, N.C. in 2014. 36 MUSCLE CAR PLUS MAGAZINE JUNE/JULY 2022
That was simple in 1953, when all 300 firstyear Corvettes were Polo White. However, the next year Corvette output jumped to 3,634 cars of which 3,200 were Polo White, 300 were Pennant Blue, 100 were Sportsman Red and four were Black. If you haven’t guessed it yet, a Black 1954 Corvette with good documentation is worth a bundle.

Green Metallic; Light Green Metallic and Orange (“Sunkist”). No wonder these Miatas became very collectible. Later Mazdas also featured some rare colours such as Lazer Blue (a 2002 special order colour); Evolution Orange (offered in 2000 only); Splash Green (2003 only); Blazing Yellow (2002 only); Vivid Yellow (a special order colour); Black Cherry (2004 and 2005 only); Razor Blue (2005 only) and Lava Orange (2005 Mazdaspeed Miata only). Mazda made a big deal about such colours. One year, at the Chicago Auto Show, Mazda featured the owners of cars with rare colours wearing T-shirts that matched the colours of their cars!
In the good old days, different automakers had different ways of maintaining production totals. Trying to find the numbers were part of my job for awhile and it was frustrating. This was in the late-1970s and on one visit to Chrysler’s old (ancient?) W.T. Keller Building in Detroit, the company historian pointed to a cardboard The Corvette Black Book by Mike Antonick, which is published on a box and said, “They’re all in there, but nobody knows how to make regular ongoing basis, carries the colour breakdowns for Corvettes heads or tails of them.” In contrast, some mid-1950s records obof most, if not all, model years. But such information for other cars tained from American Motors listed the options installed on each isn’t as easy to access. individual car (and may well have included how many were made in each colour). five-speed manual transmission. They took very good care of their car. It was never driven during salty Wisconsin winters, but in warm months the couple had a blast cruising around in it and taking it to car shows.
In the summer of 2013, they added new hood graphics, a tri-bar “We just had to have one in that colour,” they said. The couple Pony emblem and a Ford oval on a glossy black hood. They also called the Mustang their “Fun Pony” and they thought that Leg- used glossy black graphics on the rear. Although the car was used end Lime was a fun colour. The car was a V6-powered Premium Coupe with the Pony package with a base price of $20,090. The V6 Pony Package cost $1,195 and included P235/55ZR17 A/S tires; Mustang logo front floor mats; a body colour rear deck lid spoiler; Pony tape stripes; a 17-in. aluminum mini spare wheel with tire; anti-lock brakes; traction control; 17-in. premium painted cast-aluminum wheels; a black tape stripe; Pony centre caps and a satin aluminum panel. Other extras on the car were an interior upgrade package costing $460 and a wheel locking kit for $50. Legend Lime Clearcoat Metallic paint (Code P1) was the leastordered Mustang colour in both the 2005 and 2006 model years. Ford records show that it was applied to just 13,899 Mustangs over those two production runs. The colour is similar to the Code 30Y-3675 Lime Gold Poly colour used on 1967-1969 Fords and Mercurys of the same years. This Mustang also came with a Dark Charcoal cloth interior and front bucket seats. Since Mark and Linda purchased their car, other Mustang fans have picked up on the fact that the Legend Lime Clearcoat Metallic cars stand out in a crowd. In fact, there are two Internet registries where the owners of Legend Lime Mustangs can enter their cars. The first is on Facebook at www.facebook.com/groups/37315759679/ ?ref=share.
