Ford Introduces All-New 2021 F-150 Tremor
F
ord has expanded its rugged off-road family of trucks with the addition of the all-new 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor, which combines all-terrain upgrades and outstanding towing and payload capacity. The Tremor was designed for those seeking more off-road capability than the available FX4 package, which would come in handy for people with jobs that require they venture off-road. The Tremor, of course, features the same high-strength steel frame and highstrength, military grade, aluminum alloy body as the rest of the lineup and is based on the SuperCrew configuration with the 5.5-ft. box, 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. It comes available in standard, mid and high equipment groups with all sharing core suspension hardware that helps balance work with off-road capability. The suspension boasts retuned front and rear springs for added ground clearance, while front hub knuckles and upper control arms are revised. The monotube shocks in the front and twin tube shocks in the rear are tuned for softer damping at low speeds with additional damping and control for more severe off-road events. Thirty-three-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires are mounted on matte-finished 18-in. Wheels, providing an aggressive stance, while a Raptor-style bash plate protects the front end. The truck includes a standard locking rear differential and optional late-availability upgrade to a Torsen limited-slip front across all equipment levels. In terms of appearance, the F-150 Tremor features a more aggressive hood and front end with a unique grille that has a blacked-out Ford oval with signature Tremor colour Active Orange highlights. It comes available with all the technology and safety features you could want and will be available sometime this summer. Trucks Plus MAGAZINE FEB/MAR 2021

First Launch Edition 2021 Ram 1500 TRX to be Auctioned by Barrett-Jackson for Charity Ram announced recently its plans to auction VIN 001 of the all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX which will be the quickest, fastest and most powerful truck ever at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction on March 26. The auction of the Launch Edition VIN 001 truck will see the proceeds going entirely to the United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s 2-1-1 helpline to provide services to veterans and their families. The truck is one of 702 Launch Edition models to commemorate the truck’s 702 horsepower it comes with straight from the factory; however if you wanted one, it’s already too late as they sold out in less than three hours. Barrett-Jackson is waiving all fees, increasing the amount that will go to charity. “Ram is giving Barrett-Jackson bidders the unbelievable chance to own VIN 001 of its highly coveted TRX Launch Edition,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Only 702 of these muscle trucks were made available, and all were sold within three hours. As you may or may not have heard, FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) and French manufacturers Groupe PSA, which sells vehicles under the Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel and Vauxhall brands, agreed to a 50-50 $50 billion merger back in late 2019, and now it has officially been completed. The companies will name their merged operations Stellantis, which is rooted in the Latin verb “stello’ meaning “to brighten stars,” but will use that name as a corporate brand while names and logos of the existing brands will remain unchanged. The company plans on moving heavily towards electrification, which is something FCA has not done much of yet when compared to other manufacturers. The impact on the Ram truck and Jeep brands will be interesting to see, though it would seem that it only helps the cause by bringing in additional resources, people and technologies.

Ford F-150 Named 2021 North American Truck of the Year A 50-member independent jury of print and broadcast journalists from both the U.S. and Canada have named the 2021 Ford F-150 the 2021 North American Truck of the Year and the all-new Ford Mustang Mach-E as the North American Utility of the Year. “This recognition for Mustang Mach-E and F-150 is validation not only for our brand, but also for our Ford team, which continues to innovate and deliver on its commitment to creating must-have products and services,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, Ford Americas and IMG. “The North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year awards are among the most prestigious in the industry and such an honour serves as a capstone achievement for years of hard work for the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 teams.” This marks the first time since 2014 that a single brand has won multiple North American vehicle of the year awards. The Ford F-150 is all-new for 2021 and has received numerous upgrades, targeting the most towing and payload of any light-duty full-size pickup.
GMC Sierra to Feature Super Cruise Hands-Free Driver Assistance Technology GMC has recently announced that the driver assistance technology Super Cruise will debut on the Sierra 1500 Denali in late model year 2022. The truck will have the latest version of Super Cruise including the introduction of the ability to trailer while driving hands free. It is the industry’s first true hands-free driver assistance system on divided and compatible roads and it utilizes a driver attention system and precision LiDAR map data in addition to real-time cameras, sensors and GPS. The driver attention system uses a small camera located on top of the steering column and works with infrared lights to determine where the driver is looking whenever Super Cruise is in operation. If the system detects that the driver has turned their attention away from the road for too long, the steering wheel light bar will prompt the driver to return their attention to the road.
Fun-to-Drive The Toyota Tacoma continues its domination of the mid-size pickup truck market

020 was another year of sales domination for the Toyota Tacoma, outselling its nearest rival (the Ford Ranger) by more than double. Toyota overhauled the truck back in 2016 and has offered a few slight updates since then, but this is definitely not the newest or most advanced midsize truck on the market. So why does it sell so well? We borrowed a 2021 Tacoma TRD Pro to answer that exact question.
Our test truck came outfitted with the 3.5-litre V6 making 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque, sent through a six-speed manual transmission (sixspeed auto is available).Toyota doesn’t reserve the do-it-yourself gearbox for the base models either, allowing even the TRD Pro customer to have one. This makes the most fun version of Toyota’s small pickup even more engaging to drive, as the manual rewards the driver with fairly short throws and notch gates that feel great when shifting. Fuel economy is a strange misstep for the manual Tacoma though, as the truck is rated at 17 mpg (13.8L/100 km) in the city and 20 (11.7L/100 km) on the highway while the automatic-transmission version is good for 18 mpg (13L/100 km) in the city and 23 (10L/100 km) on the highway. So what makes the TRD Pro so fun? It all starts with suspension. A set of 2.5-inch FOX internal bypass shocks has been added in the front and rear while the springs have all been tuned by TRD. This comes together to allow this small Tacoma to fly over offroad obstacles, while still providing a good on-road ride. Skid plates, a set of black alloy wheels, Rigid Industries fog lights and interior stitching complete the package, making sure that the truck looks the part as well. Hitting our local forest trails, the Tacoma immediately showed us its biggest advantage off-road: size and weight. This midsize is small and it feels like it could fit down just about any trail. Overall width is 75.2inches, height is 71.6 inches, while curb weight hits 4,445 pounds (surprisingly the Tacoma is 20 pounds heavier with the manual than with the automatic).
12 Trucks Plus MAGAZINE FEB/MAR 2021
Nimble is the best word for the Tacoma as you head into the wilderness, with the truck feeling light on its feet. Opting for the manual takes away two of Toyota’s off-road drive systems: multi-terrain select and Crawl Control. The first allows you to choose from different modes, each tailored to a specific situation, while the latter system is off-road cruise control. Both work well, but I must say that off-roading in a manual is a little more rewarding, and doing it yourself in this truck is easy. With a low-range ratio of 2.57:1, the truck creeps along in 4LO with tons of power available from your right foot. While the 3.5-litre motivates the truck along well in the high rpm, the low-end still feels a little shallow, so putting the truck into low-range makes a huge difference.
Now let’s look at the off-road numbers. Opting for the TRD Pro brings along a 32-degree approach angle, 23.9-degree departure and a 26degree breakover angle, and 9.4-inches of ground clearance. These aren’t class leading, but are more than enough for this TRD Pro to tackle a variety of off-road situations. On the inside, the Tacoma still comes across fairly basic with a long horizontal plastic dash, though it is packed with the latest in Toyota technology. Standard Safety Sense means that this TRD Pro comes with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and forward collision assist, among other things. Wireless cell phone charging is another tech feature you’ll find in the Tacoma. On the topic of size, the truck’s trim dimensions make it great for going off-road, but not ideal for passenger comfort.
FEB/MAR 2021 Trucks Plus MAGAZINE 13
The Tacoma’s back seat offers 32.6-inches of legroom, not much for a full-size adult. Plus, the front seats in the Tacoma offer a strange seating position that has you simultaneously sitting low to the floor of the truck, but because the floor is high to begin with, also has you looking out the top section of the windshield if you stand anywhere over six feet like me. It’s not a deal breaker for many buyers, but we recommend you test drive a Tacoma before you buy one, and make sure the seating position works for you. When you do hit the highway, the Tacoma drives easily down the road, with our lone complaint again being about the powertrain. This 3.5L doesn’t love to rev up from idle, and yet you have to dig into the rpm before it delivers any serious power. So it constantly feels as though you’re pushing the accelerator close to the floor before the real power comes on. In everyday driving, the powertrain works well; this is just a characteristic that isn’t found in most of the V6s in the segment, and stands out in the Tacoma. Steering has a strong on-centre feel with little play in it, another Toyota trait that is one of the reasons the truck feels so good off-road. Especially when you’re moving at high speeds, you want to feel that feedback and control in your hands at all times, and the steering in the Tacoma delivers that. The last pieces of the Tacoma puzzle are reliability and resale value. For the first one, all we can say is that the Taco has a stellar reputation for lasting forever, but the second is quantifiable. According to Canadian Black Book, the Tacoma has held the best resale value in Canada for 11 years in a row. When you combine the truck’s fun-to-drive nature with its penchant for lasting forever and holding its value, it’s no wonder why Canadians are so fond of the Tacoma TRD Pro. Tacoma starts at $38K in Canada, but opting for a TRD Pro pushes the price up closer to $56,000. With the new Ford Ranger nipping at its heels and new versions of GM’s midsize pickups due out soon, it will be interesting to watch Toyota and see if they respond to new pressures from the market. 14 Trucks Plus MAGAZINE FEB/MAR 2021

Re-Invented 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor
Story by Benjamin Yong, photos courtesy of Ford
A
decade ago, Ford accepted the challenge of building an offroad racing vehicle for the street and thus, the F-150 Raptor was born. Today, the third-generation rugged pickup is re-invented, boasting even better hardware, cutting-edge electronics, the latest EcoBoost engine under the hood — and styling resembling a fighter jet to boot. “Raptor is the original desert truck. We just took it to another level,” says Ali Jammoul, Ford Performance vehicle program director, in a press release. “The all-new Raptor splices high-speed off-road performance muscle with advanced technology and connectivity that comes together in a unique Built Ford Tough way.” The Dearborn-based company loves to use “military grade” in its marketing when describing things like the F-150’s aluminum alloy body. Now that adjective takes on a whole different meaning as the design of the truck is actually inspired by the the F-22 Raptor. Just look at the functional side vents echoing the fighter aircraft’s intakes, muscular front fenders and stealthy blacked-out grille, side mirrors, fender flares, under-body cladding and taillights. Other purposeful exterior highlights include a wider front skid plate for greater side-to-side protection, durable steel bumpers and a high rear bumper clearance with the dual exhaust tips tucked close to the body, which is helpful during the navigation of un-friendly environments. 20 Trucks Plus MAGAZINE FEB/MAR 2021
Suspension is one area where this segment is the most critically assessed, and the newest Raptor does not disappoint. Completely re-engineered, there’s a specifically-developed five-link rear suspension setup capable of delivering additional power and control to the ground over rough terrain. Extra-long trailing arms assist in the maintenance of proper axle position at all times, and the 24-inch coil springs are the longest in its class providing increased travel. The long-standing collaboration between Ford and FOX Racing Shox continues — the pickup utilizes next-generation (read: large) digitally-controlled adjustable FOX Live Valve internal bypass shocks. Able to handle serious amounts of heat buildup, they react ultra-quick to changes in driving surfaces. Whether on-or-off-road,
the 3.1-inch anodized shock bodies are filled with a low-friction fluid that gives a comfortable ride. For 2021, both 35- and 37-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain T/A KO2 tires are available — the biggest ever fitted from the factory on a production light-duty truck. The latter yields 13.1-inches of running clearance, while the former, 12 inches. Thanks to leaps in tech, the vehicle is loaded with all the modern necessities. Similar to a smartphone or laptop, the pickup is equipped to receive over-the-air software updates, and in the future potentially even features such as shareable trail maps. A fully-customizable 12-inch screen replaces the traditional gauge cluster, and drivers are free to choose different types of information to display, for example turn-by-turn directions, on-the-fly performance data and more. An optional 360-degree camera package means obstacles may be spotted from a birds-eye view, activated by the push of a hard button on the dashboard. In the forward setting, a dynamic tire track overlay shows the path of the wheels ahead, eliminating the need to get out and do a spot check. Kind of like cruise control for back-country warriors -- after setting a speed, the standard Trail Control system can take over the application of throttle and brakes leaving only the steering on manual. Similarly, a Trail One-Pedal Drive mode combines the tasks of acceleration and braking into the the gas pedal: press down to move forward, and release to come to a stop. Also standard is SYNC 4 infotainment, improving upon its predecessor via more natural voice recognition, real-time GPS mapping and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, eliminating the need to be tethered to a physical USB cable. All Raptors have an electronic-locking rear differential, and utilize a third-gen twin-turbocharged EcoBoost 3.5-litre V6 mill, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Towing capacity is rated at 8,200 pounds, 200 pounds more than before. Further specifications will be released closer to the summertime launch date. In addition, the Raptor R is anticipated to join the fleet next year.

Instantly Recognizable
2021 Chevrolet Tahoe High Country Story and photos by Dan Heyman
C
hances are that if you’ve every driven anywhere, watched any political drama, seen any rap video or had a look at the livery car line-up at the airport, you’ve seen a Chevrolet Tahoe. It has become one of the most recognized vehicles on North American roads – especially parked just on the shoulder, with a push bar on the front – which is a feat because it is and has always been a pickup truck-based, ladder-framed basic two-box shape and until the latest model you see here, has had pretty tame styling. It has legions of dedicated fans, however, that have lent a level of brand equity to its name that you really can’t buy or pay for. For 2021, meanwhile, the Tahoe is all-new with a host of new features, with the goal in mind to make this popular SUV even more attractive to buyers. It starts with the styling – actually, more specifically, it starts with that grille and those headlights. The headlights themselves are slim to the point they actually kind of remind of the items found on the Chevrolet Camaro, while the DRLs are boomerang-shaped and coupled with the grille, the whole shebang is actually shared with the Silverado 1500 pickup. Other nice details include my truck’s 22-in. wheels (base Tahoes get 18s; 20s are also available), though the exact style seen here is actually a – deep breath -- $4,165 option. That’s $4,165 just for the wheels as they don’t come as part of a package with other features. They look great, but that’s a big cost. There are also some nice “Easter Egg”-type details as well, such as the “Chevrolet” scripting integrated into the left brake light, while the right light assembly features a subtle Bowtie logo. I also like the “High Country” script stamped into the grille as well as the Bowtie logo that appears just below the spot under which you’re to wave your foot to activate the tailgate – which, I have to admit, didn’t always work. That tailgate, by the way, is a two-part affair in that you can either open up the entire door, or just the rear window so you don’t risk losing items upon opening the hatch. Inside, my truck’s High Country trim means “Mocha” (read “light brown;” I prefer “gingerbread” or “baseball glove”) leather interior that looks fantastic
22 Trucks Plus MAGAZINE FEB/MAR 2021
– brown leather can go very wrong in the car world, but they’ve nailed it here. I’m less enamoured with the black plastic surrounding the climate control and infotainment controls on the centre stack, and even less so with the way the leather surrounding either side of the transmission tunnel by the knees isn’t snug enough, making for some cheap-feeling flex if you bump a knee. Not that that happens often, but just knowing that issue exists is enough to leave a bad taste in the mouth and since it happens either side of the trans tunnel, it seems less a fluke, and more an actual design flaw. The big 10.2-in. infotainment screen above all that, though, is all aces and it’s compatible with Android and wireless Apple CarPlay, which is right on and backed up by a massive wireless charge pad that looks large enough for a tablet, let alone a smartphone. Even Chevy’s native interface isn’t too bad, but I used CarPlay most of the time. The gauge cluster is a little tamelooking, but the TFT display between the two main gauges displays the most pertinent information succinctly and sharply, and can be easily navigated with steering wheel buttons. Which, along with your cruise controls, voice activation controls and heated steering wheel button, is all you’ll find on the uncluttered wheel.
Speaking of displays: my tester also had a heads-up display I hardly ever used, but did note that it wasn’t obstructed by polarized sunglasses, which is nice. A tech feature I used plenty is the digital rear-view mirror, even if it’s a little too small considering it’s mounted to a pretty XL vehicle. It looks better suited for a compact crossover and I can only blame cost cutting measures for why we don’t see something larger in here. Regardless of that, it does well to provide a wide-angled view out back and means you don’t have to worry about having tall rear passengers or packing your luggage too high because no matter what, the view out will always be the same.
seen in a Tahoe when set to its highest setting. The bottom line is the ride in here is properly luxury-spec. While the big new add in the power department for ’21 is the availability of a 3.0-litre Duramax diesel engine, the returning 5.3-litre and 6.2-litre (as seen here) V8s have now been blessed with Chevy’s Active Fuel Management system for better fuel economy. Power remains the same at 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque for the 6.2, but since it’s fed through a close-ratio 10-speed automatic transmission (your only choice for ’21), it feels almost more powerful than that. I never found myself wanting for more power, and while normally I’d say “if you want to tow, get the diesel” that’s not so obvious
Some of the tech, though, seems techy just for tech’s sake. Take the power-sliding central storage “bin,” for example. I say “bin” because it really isn’t a bin at all because anything you store there once you open it (with a button that’s somewhat inconveniently placed, unmarked, above the rear-view mirror alongside the sunroof controls. Which makes sense, for the sunroof controls) will have to stay, because you can’t close the bin if you’ve stored anything there. There’s a smaller bin nestled at the base of the lid itself that you can store smaller stuff in, though. And you don’t have to worry about locking anything because if there’s no power, then the bin won’t open for any would-be carjacker. Even if they did get it started, they probably wouldn’t be able to find the bin controls anyway. I just don’t really see the point. Especially considering that if you leave it open, it makes it impossible to access the third row from between the second-row captain’s chairs, because the retracted storage unit is in the way. Speaking of the third row: for 2021, it’s become a little more habitable thanks to another big innovation for the ’21 Tahoe: independent rear suspension, something the Tahoe’s main Ford Expedition competition has had for quite some time now. The new suspension is packaged much smaller than the old solid axle setup, so it doesn’t infringe as much into the cabin making for easier loading and more rear-seat legroom. The result is actually a fairly usable third row thanks to the space provided, as well as features like two USB-C ports, cupholders and storage bins. The seat cushions are still a little on the thin side but that’s usually the case when it comes to three-row SUVs. They’re also easy to access thanks to a slide-and-tumble second row, as well as the aforementioned passage between the second-row captain’s chairs. Not only does the new suspension make for more room inside, it also makes for a much smoother ride, especially when coupled with my tester’s air-side suspension/magnetic ride dampers (just like in a Corvette!) that can be adjusted to four ride heights. The Tahoe is still a body-on-frame truck, but you don’t get anywhere near the shuddering through the chassis over bumps that you used to. It also offers the highest ride height we’ve ever
here as its 8,000 lb. tow rating means the diesel actually tows less then every other 4WD-equipped model. It will likely use less fuel while doing so but still; it definitely helps reinforce the qualities of the 6.2L V8. It’s a smooth, torquey engine that reaches peak torque at 4,100 rpm, so coupled with that great transmission, forward progress is much less “lumbering” and much more “brisk.” Plus, it’s got a throaty growl that helps reinforce the feeling that it is a powertrain that will last a good, long while. My, does it ever come at a cost, though. At its base, the High Country starts at almost $81,000 – or, about 30 grand more than what the 2WD Tahoe starts at – and that doesn’t even include that fantastic air suspension I had. That comes as part of the $5,805 High Country Deluxe package. That package, meanwhile, also adds adaptive cruise control which really should already be included on all High Countrys. Then you add those wheels and a few other bits, and you’re knocking on 95 grand. Ninety-five thousand dollars for a Chevy Tahoe is a lot to spend and while there are Tahoe fans out there that won’t mind spending on a luxury version, my guess is that most would do what I would: get the Z71 trim, add the air suspension and you’re good to go for less than 80 grand. Now, you’ve got all the stuff that makes the ’21 Tahoe great, and you can leave the fluff.

Pickup Wars
2021 HD pickup truck stats – and What’s New Story by Howard J Elmer, photos courtesy of the manufacturers
F
ierce is almost too weak a word for the level of competition in the truck market – even in the HD segment. Why is that? This is a growing segment – and the trucks are expensive. Well over 20 percent of total North American truck sales are now HD pickups – and of those, 90 percent tow regularly. These are trucks that probably have an average transaction cost of $75,000 each; so, you can see why the Big Three are fighting so hard for market share. Each year, the Big Three taunt each other with higher tow ratings and ever increasing horsepower and torque numbers, and these are what’s highlighted in the advertising, either in print or on video. For 2021, (at least for now), this is how those numbers stack up. First: Ram is claiming a Max tow rating of 37,100 lb – on the 3500 Second: Ford is claiming a Max tow rating of 37,000 lb – on the F450 Third: GM’s Max tow rating is 36,000 lb – on the 3500. However, there is a bit of smoke and mirrors involved here. While the numbers are genuine, each of these top numbers is achieved by just one version of each of these trucks. In each case, regardless of manufacturer, the Max tow rating applies to a Regular Cab, base model trim, dual rear wheel, 4x2 truck. In other words, a truck that very few will ever buy. If you build the most popular truck – a crew cab, 4x4, mid-level trim package – the average weight goes down. If there is a cautionary tale here, it’s never take that Max number to heart. Build your truck first and then find out what its exact payload and tow numbers are. For each of the HD builders, we’ve compiled a list of what’s new on the trucks for 2021 – current weight ratings and the most recent noteworthy updates. Here they are: 26 Trucks Plus MAGAZINE FEB/MAR 2021
2021 FORD F-250, F-350, F-450
In 2020, Ford announced an all-new gas engine for Super Duty – the 7.3L V8. This addition gave HD customers two gas engine choices - the standard 6.2L V8 and now the 7.3L V8, both paired with new 10-speed automatic transmissions designed specifically for HD. The new 7.3L gas V8 design is built on decades of Ford’s commercial engine experience, meant to provide durability, ease of maintenance, and the towing and payload capability customers want. RV-ING: FLAGSTAFF E-PRO 19RD
Not a Budget Trailer Story and photos by Howard J Elmer, additional photos courtesy of Flagstaff
T
he E-Pro line-up of trailers from Flagstaff are meant to fit a market that wants a lightweight trailer that will tow with today’s smaller SUV’s while still offering all the amenities that a plugged-in buyer demands. That summation is what I gleaned from the E-Pro literature. To see if they’ve delivered on that outline, I recently did a walk-through and towing test on the E19RD model in the E-Pro line-up. This model is 20-ft long and weighs in at 3,177 lb. dry. It has no slideouts. It is a basic box design with the dinette at the rear, bed at the front and the kitchen and bath sharing the centre section across a common aisle. What makes this trailer stand out is not the floorplan, but what Flagstaff has put into the floorplan. The E-Pro is not a budget trailer. In fact, when you look at the construction and the standard list of features, you’d probably peg it as a solid mid-range trailer price-wise. With that in mind, what I saw was a lot of content in this trailer which translates to good value. E-Pro’s are built with aluminum cage construction supporting vacuum-laminated roof and walls. A domed rubber roof will shed the rain well and the unit rolls on radial tires fitted to Dexter Torflex axles. These axles offer independent wheel suspension, rubber cushions and forged torsion arms. There are scissor jacks at all four corners, a fold-out rest-on-theground entry step, a pass-thru storage at the front, a full powered awning, outdoor speakers, barbeque gas hookup, 36 Trucks Plus MAGAZINE FEB/MAR 2021
outdoor shower and all the power plugins as required. The windows are automotive-style tinted glass and you’ll also find little extra’s like a docking light above the hitch coupler. E-Pro’s green energy vibe comes from its standard roofmounted solar panel that feeds a 1000-Watt converter. To give you an example of what this will power – well, it will run the refrigerator off just that one panel (though the fridge is gas/electric auto-switch over). However, E-Pro is also pre-wired with another outside wall port so you can set up other panels once you reach your campsite. A/C and the microwave will still require greater shore power, but you do have the potential to go off-grid with most of your needs in this unit. Still, while you’re out in the back country – unplugged – you can still remain connected with the variety of connections that this trailer offers. For starters, it comes with a standard WiFi Ranger Sky booster with available WiFi LTE connectivity. The AM/FM stereo comes with Bluetooth and a USB port, while the 12V TV has a built-in DVD player. The trailer is also pre-wired to accept a backup camera view in your tow vehicle. In keeping with the boondocking model, E-Pro also offers a Shower Miser Water Saver system. This will stretch your fresh water to last longer. However, if you do re-fill from an unknown source, the Water-Pur Filtration System will take care of that. Keeping the model of unlimited solar power in mind, many of the systems are set up as gas/electric – like the fridge, hot water heater and two-20lb propane tanks which are standard. A couple of the more interesting features inside the unit are the large (relative to its overall size) bathroom that features a porcelain toilet, mirrored medicine cabinet, toiletry shelf,

and tall, bright shower with a small tub base for washing up the kids. The kitchen lacks a large counter, although it does have a nice glass cover for the stove top, but more likely the large free-standing dinette table will be used for food prep. This dinette folds down to the second sleeping space in the trailer, but the table itself stands on aluminum legs and is easily moved around; you could even move it outside if you like. Storage is found throughout the trailer; wherever a space presents itself, Flagstaff has put a cupboard, shelf or closet there. Some open shelves even have cargo nets. As this type of trailer will appeal to younger people, E-Pro can be outfitted with the carriers needed to bring the outdoor
toys along. A tongue-mounted bike rack is popular, as is a roof-top bike/kayak/canoe carrier. For this, a rear access ladder is provided. Have a look at the E-Pro. Other than the one I had a chance to test, the line-up to this lightweight segment offers a broad range of sizes and models. Toyo Observe GSi-6
BOLT’s New Swivel Locking Recovery Hook is made from aircraft grade 6061-T6 aluminum, has a 10,000 lb. Capacity, and is designed to be fast thanks to its unique latching mechanism. The top portion does not need to be unscrewed in order to loop the tow strap, as the strap simply slides easily into place over the hook. It fits standard 7/8-in. bumper tabs, winches and recovery straps. The lock cylinder is located on the hook itself, which prevents the pin used to attach the hook to the vehicle from moving freely when locked in order to protect it from theft. The product, of course, gets permanently programmed to the vehicle’s ignition key the first time the key is inserted into the cylinder. For more information please go to www.boltlock.com
BDS 4-In. Radius Arm Lift Kit for 2020 Ford Super Duty
Toyo Observe’s new GSi-6 studless performance winter tire features significant performance improvements over its predecessor, utilizing its directional tread design with staggered tread blocks to maximize traction and handling while also improving ride comfort. Crushed walnut shells are embedded into the tire tread compound to dig and bite into the ice or snowy surfaces for improved traction. The tires are available in many different sizes from 14-in. all the way up to 22-in.
BDS Suspension is now offering a new 4-in. Radius Arm Lift Kit for the 2020 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty which feature heavyduty radius arms built from 1-3/4-in. OD-10GA DOM tubing with support gussets. These replacement arms are far superior to the factory stamped steel units with a high-clearance design for extra ground clearance, and are formed inward to allow for clearance of larger wheel and tire packages. They incorporate factory-style rubber bushings to minimize road vibrations, and bolt into the factory mounting points and reposition the front axle to correct caster angle.

CURT’s All-New No-Latch QuickPin Trailer Coupler Instead of a latch, CURT’s all-new Quickpin Trailer Coupler uses a single hitch pin to secure the coupler onto the ball which provides a secure vehicle-trailer connection while reducing stress and the time it takes to hook up your trailer. Traditional latch-style couplers are prone to rust and wear, and this new product eliminates that issue. The coupler is currently available to fit standard 2-in. diameter balls and it can be purchased in three different trailer tongue widths - 2-, 2-1/2-, and 3-in. Additionally, the QuickPin also comes with predrilled holes to fit most existing bolt configurations.

STUCK TRUCKS
Hindsight is always 20/20, but maybe should’ve hit this with some serious speed.
This will not be an easy dig out.
Is the truck this colour or is it that caked in mud? He just had to go into the one deep spot. Sometimes you just have to sit and think about it for a minute.
Looks like they’re going to need something else for traction. We’re sure that most of you have had the misfortune of getting stuck while out on a weekend adventure. So send us your photos of your adventure to stucktrucks@rpmcanada.ca and if we use your photos we’ll send you a cool Trucks Plus hat! 46 Trucks Plus MAGAZINE FEB/MAR 2021
