Quality Matters, Certified Quality Engineers also Certified Quality Engineer is a certificate awarded by the American Society for Quality for professionals educated in quality engineering and control field. These certificate holders have an expertise in researching and preventing unwarranted costs through low production costs, low product quality and degrading market share from low quality products. These engineers are professionally trained in Quality Assurance & Quality Control. Quality Assurance can be defined as the statement of commitment made to the client, about the product quality, which will be in line with the requirements. Quality Control ensures the requirements or the raw materials supplied are as per the requirements so that the end product suffers no defect, but is just what the client needs. A Certified Quality Engineer should have the knowledge to set up Quality Control Circles, identify potential quality risk factors, evaluate human risk factors and natural process variation due to PI techniques and/or industry trends, and come up with countermeasures and quick fix solutions, which will ensure the end product suffers no delay or quality issues. SPC (Statistical Process Control) Demming's Wheel (Quality = Results of Work Efforts/Total Costs Total Quality Management Six Sigma (Process Improvement)
SPC - SPC is a method of quality control which uses statistical methods to ensure the process operates at it's full potential, where full potential means, the process generates maximum product at minimum wastage. (Optimum levels) Demming's Wheel - Demming's principle that adoption of proper management principles and organization methods can increase the quality and reduce costs, simultaneously. The key is to ensure improvement is continually sought. Quality = Results of work/Total costs.
When priority is on the quality, quality increases and the costs fall. Total Quality Management - TQM is a principle where the organization installs a permanent drive to increase quality and minimize costs. It emphasizes on 1. Quality is defined by customer's requirements 2. Top management has direct responsibility for quality improvement 3. Increased quality comes from systematic analysis and improvement of work process 4. Quality Improvement is a continuous effort and conducted throughout the organization Six Sigma (PI) - Six Sigma is a set of techniques and tools used for Process Improvement by Motorola in 1986. Six Sigma seeks to identify and remove the determinants of errors and defects, minimizing variability in the end product, in manufacturing and the business process, thereby creating an uniformity in the product.
