maps & system design As a StubHub Maps Designer and Data Specialist, my day to day involves creating, editing, and cataloging maps for Music and Theater events. After I entered the role, I realized that there was no overall, clear-cut design system or guidelines within the Maps team.
Before
The branding across our different map types was scattered and outdated. We did not have standard templates or guidelines beyond basic font use and sizing. Our brand colors and fonts had also been updated, so everything needed to be refreshed.

JSK Design personal branding
I wanted to update my personal branding for 2020 and create a custom logotype. Having lived in San Francisco for over 6 years, I looked to the MUNI logo for inspiration on combining my initials into one mark. I also wanted to showcase my love of bright colors and illustration on both my resume and business cards.

Bloom Bras branding
Bloom Bras is a San Francisco based start-up sports bra brand that developed a bra specifically with the well-endowed, active woman in mind. I was brought on as the Graphic Design intern and tasked with designing the logo for the brand, website assets, and content for the Kickstarter campaign.
While developing the logo, the client picked the * typeface Actonia. After sketching and getting
feedback, I iterated a lot to make sure the lock-up of “BB and Actonia would work well together.

Gender Norms editorial design
The design challenge here was to design an editorial layout for article 'Forcing Kids to Stick to Gender Roles Can Actually Be Harmful to To Their Health' by Tara Ressler. The 8 pages had to include an opening image, an infographic, and a sidebar. I chose to illustrate the graphics for the article and designed a magazine cover to go along with it.

I wanted to play off the ‘print is dead’ notion by calling my magazine Not Dead Yet. This is also my reason for using a black letter font because it is similarly yet to go out of style in this digital age.

Monday or Tuesday book design
Monday or Tuesday is a collection of short stories by Virginia Woolf. The goal of this book project was to use images, hierarchy, and layout to tie all the stories together. Each story has at least one collage, designed to decode meanings for the reader. In each one, the clear portion represents the literal storyline. The halftoned portion of the collage represents the underlying theme of the story.

Each collage carried something over from the previous collage, so in the end all images were connected.
Higher Power packaging design
Can a product become propaganda? In this design, I take this question literally. This concept is a flip on using religious propaganda to oppose medical marijuana, instead I use it to promote it.

The sides of the packaging are Bible verses that talk specifically about how God created the Earth and every single seed-bearing plant on it... Including marijuana.
Damn Fine Coffee Co. branding
I wanted to apply my love for the cult TV show Twin Peaks to a branding project. The main character of the show never denies himself a “damn fine cup of coffee. I wanted to play off of the surreal themes and colors of Twin Peaks, while also creating a logo that would stand out even to non-fans.

Manifestos poster design
In this type experiment, seven design manifestos were provided. I experimented with creating hierarchy with placement, scale, and color. After reading these manifestos over and over, I realized they all had one thing in common: Male authors. If all of these manifestos were male written, masculinitydriven and noninclusive of women, do their names matter?

Jay Sllim Covers typography
My friend, Jay Sllim, hired me to create some single covers for him. With full creative freedom, I decided to create custom typography for each song.

Trade Show Retro branding/illustration
This was a freelance project that unfortunately never came to fruition. But, I was able to make some fun graphics while the project was on-going! This company creates custom, old-school video games for other companies’ trade show booths. They needed a new logo and assets for their website.
Process
These planets and stars were to serve as the middle-ground on the website, allowing for a parallax scroll effect. I also created 3 versions of each item so we could animate them “glimmering on the home page.
