ITINERARY Day 1, (Saturday) January 2014 Arrive at Guatemala City. If you arrive in the morning we will have time to visit the Museum of the Rail in Zone 1 of the capital, which is open until 16:00 ,Tuesday-Sunday. If you are spending the night in the city, we recommend Hotel Posada Belen. Day 2 (Sunday) January 2014 We will travel to to Quetzaltenango City, in the West of Guatemala. On the way we will stop in the indigenous town of Chichicastenango to visit it’s enormous and colourful market. Be on the lookout for traditional Mayan textiles as this is one of the best places in the world to buy them. In the evening we will explore Quetzaltenango in on the “Tranvia de los Altos” (the beautiful tour bus pictured) with a certified local guide . We will then stay overnight in Hotel Modelo. Day 3 (Monday) January 20th, 2014 Morning visit to Quetzaltenango’s rail museum with historian and certified guide, Augusto Ajca. Afterwards, we will visit the hot spings in the small town of Zunil, the most well known of which is Fuentes Georginas. In the afternoon we depart for the south coast, following what was the Los Altos route to Retalhuleu city where we will visit Santa Cruz Mulua station. We will stay overnight Retalhuleu , in Hotel Santa Maria, . Day 4 (Tuesday) January 21th, 2014 Today we will explore towns, farms, train stations on a 3 hour walk between Retalhuleu, Cuyotenango, and Mazatenango. Our specialised guide will be an ex railway worker and we will take the time to explore the rails on Mazatenango before returning to Retalhuleu. Day 5 (Wednesday) January 22th, 2014 Car journey to Tecun Uman followed by a combined car and walking journey to El Asintal, where we will visit the Takalik Abaj archeological site. We will then spend the night in Takalik Mayan Lodge, which is situated on a local coffee planatation. Day 6 (Thursday) January 23th, 2014 Tour of the coffee plantation followed by a morning departure to Guatemala City. On the way we will visit several different train stations in the towns of Cocales, Rio Bravo, Escuintla, Palin, Amatitlan and Villa Canales “Moran”.

Day 7 (Friday) January 24th, 2014 The morning starts with a visit to any train stations in Guatemala City we haven’t already seen and ends with a visit to the city’s Rail Museum. In the afternoon we will travel to the department of El Progreso. There we will visit some colonial churches which represent great example o renaissance and baroque architecture, as well as the Guaytan archeological site. We will then follow trail of the railways, walking some 3 hours until arriving at Zacapa, where we will visit the train station and rail museum. We will spend the night in Zacapa, in Hotel De Leon (Basic). Day 8 (Saturday) January 25th, 2014 We will visit Zacapa’s Rail Museum and then follow the rail tracks urom Gualan to Quirigua, from where we will be driven to Rio Dulce. That night we will stay in Hotel Tijax.

Day 9 (Sunday) January 26th, 2014 We will travel to Tikal National Park; an ancient and large city once at the very heart of Mayan civilization. An experienced will show you around The park, pointing out the rich wildlife (including the very noisy Howler Monkeys) and incredible buildings. Traditions, art and symbology all complement each other in one of the world’s most extraordinary shows of cultural. Originating in pre-colonial times, Guatemalan dress has been enriched by new techniques, designs and materials brought from Europe by the Spanish people. Showing the entire rich diversity of Guatemala’s indigenous textiles in one trip is very difficult. During this tour we will present to you a flavour of

local dress and the cultural heritage behind it, as well as taking in some of the other cultural and natural attractions which make Guatemala such a popular and unique tourist destination. We will take you an extraordinary journey with a certified guide passionate about the topic of textiles. Often abandoning the sites and locations of mass tourism, you will be transported to the Mayan world through the beautiful clothing of Guatemala; for here traditional clothing acts as a transfer of knowledge from generation to generation within the indigenous communities in Guatemala.

ITINERARY Day 1 (Saturday) February 15th, 2014

Arrive in Guatemala City. If you arrive in the early morning we will have time to visit the Ixchel Museum of indigenous cloth in the capital, which is open until 1pm on Saturday. We will spend the night in the capital city, at Hotel Posada Belen.

Day 2 (Sunday) 16th February, 2014

Departure to Quetzaltenango City, in the west of Guatemala. On the way we will visit the famous market town of Chichicastenango, known for it’s colour, size and authentic Mayan textiles. In the evening we will explore the city in the “Tranvia de los Altos” (High Tram) with a certified guide specialized in this tour. We will stay the night in Hotel Modelo. Talk from trained guide on indigenous Guatemalan pre-hispanic and colonial garments.

Day 3 (Monday) February 17th, 2014

In the morning we will visit the Ixkik Museum, which is dedicated to all aspects of traditional Mayan weaving and contains displays of local clothing and historic outfits originating from the country’s numerous different indigenous communities. We will be guided by the museum STAFF, who will introduce us to the art of weaving and the various forms of Guatemalan handicraft. Avoiding the stereotypes that devalue the use of Mayan dress, they will explain the different ideologies, culture and individual influences that shape Mayan dress. In the afternoon we will visit the towns of Almolonga and Zunil as well as the Fuentas Georginas hot springs in the mountains, which are fed by water coming from the volcanoes. We will spend the night in Hotel Model.

Day 4 (Tuesday) February 19th, 2014

We will visit the Yabal Handicraft Project and then the town of Momostenango where the local coupe Thelma and Louis (no relation!) will help us to understand the process of development for the famous regional “ponchos”. Lunch will be taken in the community with the families. After we will visit the local indegenous towns of San Cristobal Totonicapán, Salcajá and San Andres Xecul. We will stay overnight in Hotel Modelo. Talk from trained guide on the border in Guatemala.

Day 5 (Wednesday) February 20th, 2014

In most areas of Guatemala few men still wear traditional clothes, but the men of San Martin Chile Verde is a refreshing exception. In their land you can find the Chicabal Volcano, which is accessible with only small effort. Today we will walk through the town and enjoy the nature all around us.

Day 6 (Thursday) February 20th, 2014

Today we will take part in a classic Guatemalan circuit: visiting Chichicastenango market; stopping at Pacutama where local women will teach us their weaving techniques; and arriving in the afternoon to the town of Panajachel, which lies beside the beautiful Lake Atitlan, where we will stay the night in Hotel Jardines del Lago.

Day 7 (Friday) February 21th, 2014

Chicabal Lagoon

We will spend the day touring the many indigenous towns around Lake Atitlan by boat. Our longest stop will be to San Juan la Laguna, where we will have lunch and investigate the local needle work and cloth dyeing techniques. We will stay the night in hotel Jardines del Lago. Belonging to the ethnic Maya Zutujil (Flower of the cornfield), is characteristic of San Juan La Laguna is the armory in the woman and men accomplished to make the paint and use the colors, the principal reference for all the people want to visited this community.

Day 8 (Saturday) February 22th , 2014

We will leave the lake for the colonial city of Antigua, arriving at noon. On the way we will visit the AJ QUEN conference center where we will be given a talk on the importance of international cooperation for Guatemala and the obstacles that are often found towards this cooperation. We will stay the night in Hotel Posada La Merced.

Day 9 (Sunday) February 23, 2014

On Sunday morning you will have the option to visit the active Pacaya Volcano (a moderately difficult climb), the Museum of the Needle in Antigua, or the coffee farm and Azotea Museum in nearby Jocotenango. The evening is free time with an optional flight to Flores (Tikal). We will stay again in Hotel Posada La Merced.

Day 10 (Monday) February 24th 2014

We will travel to La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City for an international flight. If you did not visit the Ixchel Museum of indigenous cloth on your first day then you will have the opportunity today.

THE GUATEMALA GASTRONOMIC ROUTE (RUGG) Sunday March 16th 2014:

An exploration of local and indigenous Guatemalan cuisine. 15 days/14 nights â&#x20AC;&#x201C; USD $2487 in Plan B (Gastronomic Tourism/ Community Tourism)

his is a journey that takes place around Guatemala based meals, both pre-Hispanic and colonial.

On this trip you can visit famous tourist sites such as Antigua Guatemala and Tikal National Park,

Semuc Champey, Lago Atitlan, among others. In addition, you can learn and taste the great and varied cuisine Guatemalan, which has unique and exquisite dishes.

ITINERARY Day 1 (Monday or Thursday)

Arrive at La Aurora airport in Guatemala City and travel to to the Antigua city. Renowned for its well perserved colonial architecture and beautiful (but often ruined) churches, Antigua was named a world heritage site by Unesco in 1979. Welcome diner in restaurant la fonda de la Calle Real, tasting a delicious asado de lomito, a typical style with delicious chirmol (a tomato based salsa).

Day 2 WALKING CULTURAL IN ANTIGUA GUATEMALA & TOUR OF THE SURROUNDING AREA We will take a morning walk though Antigua, learning the history, culture and layout of this colonial city, and visiting the Cathedral and the main square, with it’s cheeky fountain. From the second floor of City Hall you can take in a beautiful view of the main squares and the spectacular nearby Agua Volcano. We will see Capuchin cloister, a great example of colonial architecture. We will visit the Church of San Francisco El Grande, one of the best preserved churches of Antigua and the resting place of the first Saint of Central America, Brother Peter. We will then walk to the beautiful baroque church of Our Lady of Mercy. The tour ends in a jade factory where you can see how the Mayans worked jade in the past and how this compares to modern techniques (running time: 3 hours), then lunch in this town tasting the typical dish of the city: Chicha Gallo. In the afternoon we will visit the towns surrounding Antigua.

Our first stop will be in San Juan del Obispo, where we visit the monastery of the first bishop of Guatemala, Francisco Marroquin. Afterwards, we will visit a coffee plantation. Here you can see the whole process of coffee bean, from collection to shipment. In “Old Town” we will explain the sad history of this city, which was the second city founded by the Spanish in Guatemala. Later we will visit an organic macadamia farm where we will learn about the many medical benefits of the macadamia nut. Finally, we will visit the town of San Antonio Aguas Calientes to visit the local cooperative market. We will spend the night in the same hotel as we did the night before.

Day 3 ANTIGUA-IXIMCHE-CHICHICASTENANGO Morning departure to Iximche, a small archaeological site of an ancient preHispanic Mayan city located an hour and a half away, in the department of Chimaltenango on the road to the west. At noon, after visiting this site, we will sample a delicious lunch at one of the typical Tecpan diners sprawl over the road. We will then continue our journey to the city of Chichicastenango in the department of Quiche, famous for its market which is considered one of the most colorful and impressive in Central America.

Day 4 Morning tour of the colorful market where you can buy typical objects from the simple to the very valuable; for example, traditional paintings and jade jewelry. At noon, lunch, tasting one of the typical local dishes, such as Boxbol or Chojín In the evening we will head to Panajachel, a bigger town by the side of lake Atitlan.

Day 5: TOUR OF LAKE ATITLAN Morning boat tour around Lake Atitlan, visiting four of the most colorful towns around the lake. At noon we will lunch, tasting Skate and Iguaxte, typical dishes of Solola department. In the evening we will travel to Quetzaltenango city (known to locals as Xela), the second city of Guatemala due to its size and historical importance. Xela is a fantastic mix of old and new architecture from the last of century, and is known as the cradle of modern Guatemalan culture, as many great Guatemalan artists have been from here.

Day 6 TOUR OF INDIGENOUS TOWNS & COLONIAL CHURCHES The tour starts with a visit to the Copavic Glass Blowing Factory in Cantel, where you can see hand-blown glass being shaped and made. Afterwards we will visit the indigenous cemetary in Zunil, the Santa Ana weaving cooperative, the local colonial church and the San Simon Mayan shrine. Then it’s time to relax a bit (1½ hours) at the Georginas sources natural volcanic hot springs, taking a hot water bath but surrounded by the beautiful cloud forest. We end our tour with a visit to Almolonga, one of the most productive agricultural villages in Guatemala and Central America, renowned for it’s rich land, giant vegetables and evangelical Christian community. We will lunch on a typical dish from this region called Quichón.

In the afternoon we continue to San Andres Xecul whose yellow church is probably the most famous in Central America! We will also visit a place where you can see how the materials used in the preperation of local fabrics are painted. Together with a small chapel that is really interesting to see, we will visit a Mayan altar and then to San Simon (an importanr local Mayan saint). In Totonicapan, we will visit the church located next to the “Monastery” where indigenous women wash their clothes, standing with their feet in the water as fish swim between them. We end our tour in Salcajá, where we will visit a family that makes “fruit broth”, a local fermented drink. In the afternoon we will visit a very old chocolate factory, tasting its famous hot chocolate. In the evening, we dine on the famous paches (tamales) potatoes.

Day 7 “Departure in the morning for Huehuetenango, a town in western country, where along the way you will visit the ruins of another city Zaculeu pre Hispanic Mayan and lunch will be tasting the Chicken Jocom, saucer typical of this region, then in the afternoon to the Cuchumatan (one of the highest mountains in the country - suggest: the highest mountain in Central America - and then back to Huehuetenango. There is also the option to travel to one hour of the Cuchumatan to the farm The Blue Unicorn (recommend: .... travel to the top of the Cuchumatan towards Blue Unicorn Inn Bed, about an hour from the city of Huehuetenango). Which is located in a valley called Chancol, over 3,000 meters above sea level. Where can spend a very quiet night, and the next day to take a ride morning on horseback. “

Day 8 Morning drive to Coban, through towns like Aguacatan, where they grow lots of onion and garlic, and Sacapulas, where you can sample some delicious sweets. Then Uspantán, Chicamán and San Cristobal Verapaz, where we will enjoy Sacquic, a typical local dish. After lunch we will continue our journey to Coban.

Day 9

Full day tour of Semuc Champey. Meaning “where the river is hiding in the mountains”, this is a very mighty river but in this place is largely hidden beneath the rocks. The small surface flow feeds a host of extraudinary beautiful and colourful pools where you can swim with the local fis. For lunch we will try Kaq’ik, a spicey turkey stew, and drink Boj, a fermented sugar-cane drink. In the afternoon we will travel the short distance to Lanquin, a local town surrounded by a rich complex of caves.

Accommodation is the same hotel as the night before. Day 10 Travel to Flores in the morning with one stop for lunch, tasting the empanadas of xiquinche.

Day 11 In the morning we will depart from Flores to Tikal. Starting the tour in Tikal we will learn the incredible history of the Mayan world. This is one of the most impressive and important Mayan cities, with the emblematic 45 meter high temple “El Gran Jaguar”. Tikal National Park is located in the middle of the rainforest and was the first archaeological site to be declared Natural and Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

Day 12 Morning departure to Rio Dulce. Approximately half a day to take a boat to Livingston, crossing the Rio Dulce (Sweet River) and passing the beautiful Bird Island on the way. Walking along the river is an unforgettable experience, since the water is usually very calm and allows one to better appreciate the goodness of nature reflected in the number of aquatic and terrestrial life that surrounds it. Day 2 (Monday) April 14th, 2014 Cultural tour of Antigua city with an expert guide. Emphasis on the meaning of Easter in Guatemala. In the afternoon we will go to Huehuetenango, on the way visiting the home of ethnic Cachiquel, Iximché; a real meeting of two cultures. We will stay in Hotel Ruinas Zaculeu (for 2 nights). Day 3 (Tuesday) April 15th, 2014 HOLY TUESDAY In the morning we will visit several villages around Huehuetenango; Chiantla, Todos Santos Cuchumatan, Chancol. At 21:00 hours we cam observe the Procession of Silence. The marchers carry on their shoulders the image of “Jesus of Column” (one of the best images carved and oldest preserved in the cathedral). This procession is characterized by its solemnity so it is important to maintain silence throughout. In ancient times only men could attend the procession with the goal of achieving total silence. In modern times, however, we know that men talk just as much as women, and listen significantly less! Day 4 (Wednesday) April 16th, 2014 We will return to Antigua, visiting the most beautiful lake in the world, Lake Atitlan. We will boat to the village of Santiago Atitlan and stay in Hotel Streetlights or similar for four nights.

RIGOBERTA MENCHU’S ROUTE (RURM) Monday May 19th 2014:

DESCRIPTION

Before taking this trip you need to read the books (or translations of the books) Me llamo Rigoberta Menchu “, “Así me nació la conciencia “y “la nieta de los Mayas “. Rigoberta Menchú Tum is an indigenous Maya-Quiche of Guatemala where there are twenty different ethnic groups. She lives with her parents in Chimel, a small village in northern Altiplano. Her father Vicente Menchú and her mother are the community leaders. They have many sons and daughters, and they all work in different coffee farms in the department of Quiché. The community in which the live is a very supportive world in which everyone works for the common good. In this community, children at birth belong to the whole world and not only to their parents, and so the whole community participates in childrens’ education; an education based on compliance with the laws of nature as a whole, the power and importance of the sun, and the cultivation of corn, which remains their staple food despite the dreadful treatment they have to endure on the part of the landlords and their subjects. Rigoberta is her parents’ sixth child and from childhood has had to work on a coffee farm with her siblings to help support the her family, who were always threatened by hunger (Chapter I). So, Rigoberta grew up in a universe dominated by hunger that kills many indigenous newborns, including her younger brother Nicholas. She saw the damaging influence of alcohol on her father, and the effects of labour exploitation forcing her family to constantly move between the highlands and the farms where they worked. By eight years old (cap.VI) Rigoberta was working for the church in a paid position (as a catechist) and by twelve years old she and by twelve she was being prepared for womanhood and the related customs of her people. She helps her mother who teachers her everything she needs to know about how to behave as an indian woman. Meanwhile, the situation for indigenous people goes from bad to worse, forcing the Menchú family to fight for the interests of the whole community. After a severe military repression resulting from the indigenous Quiche people protesting the dispossession of their lands, Rigoberta enlists in the CUC (Peasant Unity Committee) and decides to learn Castilian (Spanish) to overcome the language barrier that makes it difficult for her people to work with other indigenous tribes and that hinders their relationships with Ladinos and government authorities. To continue their struggle, the members of the family must often be seperated, and Rigoberta repeatedly suffers the absence of her father. However, she understands very well the wisdom of this situation, since she also has to visit different peoples of the region to explain the need for the indigenous people to fight together against oppression. On these trips Rigoberta gets to know better the Ladino people, who she discoveres are as marginalized as the indians, but are also corrupted by the political system. When the family’s work takes them to the city (Chapter VI), Rigoberta finds urban life to be monstrous. As a result of her activities Rigoberta is labelled as a subversive and her family know much misfortune. First, her father is jailed for more than a year, freed, and jailed again. After this he has to spend the rest of his life in hiding, until his murder in January of 1979, in the occupation and burning of the Spanish embassy in Guatemala City by indigenous people and their allies (Chapter XVI-XXIV) Then, her brother was alive (Chapter XXIII) and her mother raped, tortured and killed (Chapter XXVI). Since then, there was no way for Rigoberta to live her life but to fight. With the indigenous peoples increasingly threatened and persecuted by the government and the army, Rigoberta decided to train her people to defend themselves against attacks (Chapter XVII) often using rudimentary weapons inspired by the more violent parts of the Bible! While repression hardened, Rigoberta strengthened her fight with the help of other groups of indigenous people and their allies. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1992. Rigoberta Menchu’s route takes us from Laj Chimil, to the capital city, to the farms of the south coast. The program is delivered only upon direct communication with our General Manager who has a specific agreement with the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Santa Maria volcano is situated next to the small village of Llanos del Pinal. The Mirador The trips to El Mirador and surrounding archaeological sites can be made in five to seven days, depending on the amount of time and energy of the participants. Our tours are organized by the Tourism Commission of the Carmelita Community that is made up of community tourism guides that are accredited by INGUAT (Guatemalan Tourism Institute). As well as possessing an abundance of first-hand experience and knowledge about the jungle and its animals, the guides have been trained by archaeologists of the Project El Mirador to provide up to date information about the archaeological sites that are visited.Due to the unique features of this tour, it is necessary that participants are in good physical condition and are able to walk between five and six hours a day. Description of the tour: Our tours offer you the unparalleled opportunity of visiting the archaeological site El Mirador, the cradle of the Mayan culture, and to explore the tropical forest of Guatemala, the heart of the Mayan jungle. During the tour you will visit and explore various archaeological sites including several with monumental dimensions such as Tintal and Nakbé, the oldest site of the Mayan world discovered to date. Todos Santos/ Nebaj

Day 1: The first day starts at 09:00am in Todos Santos. There the guides will wait for us we will continue the journey to San Nicolás, a small village in the Cuchumatanes. The hike goes in the direction of Pericon, which is almost two hours walking. Around lunch time a short stop will be made at the river of Aguacatan to have lunch. This is a beautiful spot. After about a four hour walk, a village named Chortiz will be visited, where they can drink and eat something. Then the hike will continue to the place were will stay for the night. It is in a very small village in the beautiful surroundings of the Cuchumatanes. We have dinner and sleep at a local community Day 2: At the second day the hike starts at about 8:30am in the direction of Chutuj, this is a village with only fifteen inhabitants. After the hike passed this village, it will be approximately two and a half hour of descend and will arrive in the village of Xexecom,which is part of the region of Quiche. Here we will have lunch lunch. During the walk a cave will be passed which is called God of the luck. In this cave many refugees hid during the civil war. Later on the war cemetery will be passed. This cemetery is in memory of all those who were killed and slaughtered for the Aguil´s army Quiche, on the 22nd of April in 1981. At about 4.00pm the village Acul will be reached and there will find the overnight stay place, at Finca mil Amores. Day 3: in the third and last they, the hike leaves at 7.30am the village. The hike will go into the direction of a cheese fabric, with a beautiful Hacienda. Then the hike will continue through the mountains and will pass a ceremonial place which is called God’s children. Here they do ceremonies for the health of children. Descending the mountain after the lunch, other ceremonial places will be passed, named God of the money, God of the rain, God of the culture and God of the harvest. San pedro/ Fuentes Georginas

This hike is unique in the region and suitable to even the experienced hiker. The Trek begins at one of the most beautiful places in Guatemala and ends in the relaxing mystic place of the Hot Springs, Fuentes Georginas. Wetravelbyway of the Guatemalanhighlands. The route we taken is an old path with much history. The extensive use of the trail is still evident today, especially on Sunday, when people walk from villages such as Nahualรก to the market of Cantel in Quetzaltenango. Since the walk is very difficult due to the steepness of the region, the last day includes an option to go directly to Fuentes Georginas. Option 1: Walk down for 2 hours at Cantel private transport then we went to the Sources Georginas. Option 2: Make a walk of 10 hours from the place where we slept last night until Georginas sources Spanning across different mountain landscapes beginning at an altitude of 1560 meters, in Lake Atitlan, and reaching maximum altitude on day 3, very near the summit of the volcano Zunil. If we talk about religion, in Guatemala are practiced different religions, among the most important is the CATHOLIC RELIGION, imposed by the Spanish conquistadors and now practiced by most of Guatemalans in its magnificent splendor. For example: during Easter the streets of various departments are filled with colorful and traditions during the tour of the colorful processions where faithful devotees (men, women and children) loaded images with the representation of the passion and death of Christ. In eastern Guatemala City is located the town of Esquipulas, Chiquimula where the Basilica of the Black Christ of Esquipulas, inside which the image of Christ Black miraculous consecrated by Archbishop Fray Pedro Pardo de Figueroa to be cured of a disease. Despite the destruction of the city as a result of the earthquake in 1773 , some churches , temples and shrines not heavily damaged , so that after repairs and renovations at various times today can still be seen . During the tour we will visit La Merced Church, the Cathedral , the Temple of the School of Christ , the Church of St. Peter the Apostle , the Calvary Chapel without missing the San Francisco Temple or Shrine of Hermano Pedro . Overnight at the hotel last night DAY 3 ANTIGUA - CHICHICASTENANGO - QUETZALTENANGO Departure from Antigua Guatemala to Chichicastenango. Crafts , colorful costumes , Mayan rituals and cultural wealth are in the most famous indigenous market in Central America , which take place in the small town of Chichicastenango on Thursday and Sunday. Chichicastenango is a church of 400 years old . This beautiful church produces mystery and wonder , and is the perfect marriage being the Catholic faith and indigenous religious traditions . Market days can be seen shamans performing rituals in the church , often including incense , candles and , sometimes , even to the sacrifice of chickens to honor and pray to the gods. Its architecture is a tribute to the ancient Mayan influence , because the church has a series of 18 steps, one for each month of the Mayan calendar . This calendar consisted of 18 months with 20 days each month.

Lake Atitlan is surrounded by 12 villages which are called as the 12 apostles (Santiago Atitlan, San Pedro la Laguna, San Marcos la Laguna, etc..) The tour starts with a visit to San Marcos La Laguna. In Santiago de Atitlan Maximon visit local Mayan holy, where if we are lucky we can see some Mayan rituals and ceremonies. After that continue to the famous church and monastery of Santiago Atitlan is where the stories took place in the civil war and the way the church tried to help the indigenous population was persecuted during this time. In many villages in rural areas of Guatemala. Youth suffers from a poor Public education system, lack of recreational activities, a strong immigration to the United States With their respective family disintegration and cultural identity, stigmatization of youth as a problem of gender discrimination, the early and unwanted pregnancy, and many situations that strongly affects the harmonious development of individuals and communities. It is in this context that three years ago, several young Chancol communities were organized with the concern to “do something” and together with the Blue Unicorn Inn Bed located in the town, decided to create a library. For two years, the library and playroom worked through donation of books (including a significant donation from Adrenalina Tours) and educational games, to a local community group and volunteers took turns to open several times a week. In 2013, unable to continue using the community locally there was an urgent need to build a separate room. In order not to abandon this promising project, Adrenalina Tours decided to finance the construction material of this new local decisive contribution, and now accounts for half of the construction material. The land was made available by the Blue Unicorn who is also responsible for the construction. Very soon, a community librarian will be hired and start working through another donation and is in the network of librarians who receive training from the organization “Child – Aid” Adrenalina Tours decisively contribute to the education and improvement of children, youth and adults from the community od chancel and its neighboring communities the contributions will provide a toy library, library cultural center for about 10,000 people.
