Casa da MĂşsica

Porto, Portugal, 2005

Casa da MĂşsica, located in the heart of Porto, on the border between the new and old sections of the city, is a music hall designed by OMA. Home to the National Orchestra of Porto, the music hall also serves as the new public square in the historic Rotunda da Boavista, and over the years since its opening, has become the identity of the city. Originally, Casa da MĂşsica was used at a smaller scale for a design of a house in the Netherlands, but after the client opted out, the scale was bumped up and the design was submitted to the competition in Porto.
