NAME: Joselyn Valenzuela LEVLE: 5th ZERO CONDITIONAL AND FIRST CONDITIONAL
Zero Conditional In English there are several types of conditions, including conditional zero. This type of conditional is used in situations where if a condition is met, the same result is always given.
In conditional sentences of type 0 ("zero conditional"), the verb tense in both propositions is the "simple present".
The Zero Conditional Structure Conditionals are sentences made up of two sentences. The zero conditional has the following structure:
The order of the two sentences that make up the conditional structure can be changed. If we start with the (If) condition, we will separate them with a comma. If we start with the phrase that expresses the result, it is not necessary to put the comma. If water reaches 100ยบC, it boils. Si el agua llega a 100ยบC, hierve. Water boils if it reaches 100ยบC. El agua hierve si llega a los 100ยบC.
Uses of conditional zero
Zero conditional is used to express facts that are always true, such as scientific facts, scientific laws, general truths, etc.
In addition to true facts, the zero conditional can also be used to give instructions. In this case we will use an imperative to express the instruction or warning.
Only in this conditional can we substitute if for when without altering the meaning of the phrase. If you heat ice, it melts. Si calientas hielo, se derrite. When you heat ice, it melts. Cuando calientas hielo, se derrite.
Remember
Zero conditional is a type of conditional that is used to express a cause and effect relationship in facts that are always true (scientific facts, particular facts, etc.) or to give instructions.
First conditional
The first conditional is a structure that we use to talk about things that could happen in the future.
The first conditional sentence consists of two clauses, an "if" clause and a main clause. Option one: simple present after 'if', then simple future tense. Option two: simple future tense followed by simple present tense.
If the "if" clause comes first, a comma is generally used. If the "if" clause comes second, there is no need for a comma.
When we use "will" in the results clause of the first conditional, we are sure that something will happen. It is definitive. But we can use "may" or "might" instead of "will". This means that the consequence is not certain. It is possible, but not definitive.
In English there are several types of conditionals, among them, the first conditional. This type of conditional is used in situations where if a condition is met, a certain result is likely to occur.
First conditional structure The first conditional has the following structure:
For the future phrase we mostly use the simple future with will, but you can also use the simple future with going to or a modal verb: can, might, should, or must.
How is the first conditional used?
The first conditional is used to express future plans, threats, warnings, promises or to convince someone about something.
For the phrase in future the simple future can be used with will, with going to and modal verbs like can and might, among others.
The first conditional is a type of conditional that is used to express a condition-result relationship in particular situations that occur in the future (future plans, threats, warnings, promises, convince someone, etc.).
