I acknowledge the bidjigal people as the traditional custodians of the land I work on and the braoder community of Aboriginal And torres Strait Islander people. I acknowledge the elders past and present and their connection to land, sea and community. This living legacy has helped to shape my relationship with the landscape today.
Joseph Chee Landscape Architecture is a unique combination of design, art and science that allows an individual to have a lasting impact on the world around them. From the scale of a garden to the broader city, landscape architecture is tasked with providing exeplary outcomes for clients, the environment and society. My interests lie in creating human experiences that symbiotically enhance the environment and society which they are part of. Additionally I am interested in how landscape architecture contributes to urban design and how it can play a greater role in shaping our cities. Studying at UNSW has given me the opportunity to interigate design problems and find solutions that intergrate ecological, social and cultural values.

FISHERMAN’S MEMORIAL This studio involved the design of a land sculpture. The proposed sea organ is comprised of many different arms illuminates the night representing each of the rock fisherman who have perished in the last 10 years. It also provides a warning to the fisherman who continue to risk their lives pursing the dangerous hobby.
Each of the rock pool is illuminated by an anenomea that also acts as the mouthpiece for the sea organ.
7
There are 17 rock pool, each one to represent the individual void that the deceased have left behind.w
8
At nice the centre of the rock pools glow, illuminating the rock shelf. They are lights of rememberance and beacons of warning to others who test nature. Daylight and high tide brings with it the opportunity to go down to the intertidal area and get up close with the sea organ and the waves.

Angus and the Green New Deal This studio explored the idea of commons and how together with the Green New Deal we can project a better future. The focus was on using hand drawing techniques to explore this site and create typologies that support the vision of the Green New Deal.

Proposed typologies for Angus that responded to the Green New Deal. The typologies focused on intergrating recreation and nature and creating sustainable, equitable and liveable communities.
Concept sketches that tested the ideas with the contraints of the site.

THE SECRET GARDEN The need for more green space, particularly in the Eastern Suburbs was heightened during lockdowns. The Secret Garden sought to provide an immersive refuge experience that provided shelter from the busy city life.
