The Brief
‘To illustrate iconic characters and scenes from your favourite Roald Dahl children’s stories. The illustrations should appear as if they are part of a published series.’ - ‘Our core audience for Roald Dahl’s stories are boys and girls of the future, aged between 5 and 11.’ - ‘the illustrations should appear as if part of a coherent series. ’ - ‘None of your illustrations should be boring, safe, or predictable. All styles welcome.’
My Approach
I aim to produce a set of 3 illustrations of scenes from 3 different stories that will work as a coherent set of prints, posters or book illustrations. I aim to create bright bold illustrations that complement the Roald Dahl logo. When you think of Roald Dahl you think of Quentin Blake’s illustrations. I want to reimagine the characters and magical worlds in new ways to introduce the stories to a new generation.

Research
To research this brief I looked at a variety of adaptations of Roald Dahl’s stories including books animations, films and prints. As Quentin Blake illustrated all the original books I wanted to find a wider range of depictions of the characters and scenes.
