Evidenced where? Blog, Visual Journal, Roughs, Final Illustrations, Stings, storyboards, development sheets etc. (No more than 75 words)
5A7: Demonstrate an informed understanding of issues relating to media, communication, audience and context through the delivery of solutions to brief led problems or clearly identified creative concerns. (Knowledge & Understanding - Critical Awareness)
I believe my blog evidences and demonstrates my development of the project outcomes albeit in the very late stages before hand in and it also evidences the application of my products which help represent my concept and ideas of application of images and outcomes very successfully. Mockup representations such as bus stop advertisement, Album covers, branding in the form of a logo, and t shirt/clothing mockups which help show the concept as a potential clothing brand.
5A8: Understand the potential and limitations of technologies and processes used in the production of illustration for 2d, 3d and/or 4d distribution. (Knowledge & Understanding Research)
Possible limitations exist I believe only for the GIF images as it all depends on what readily available technologies there are to allow the idea of a advertisement such as my GIFs to be displayed on electronic bus stops or even billboards. I believe there is definite potential for the production of the clothing brand concept as that is an extremely commercial and viable option.
5B5: Analyse and critically evaluate the impact of social, cultural, technological and/or ethical concerns on the development of solutions to problems relevant to individual creative concerns. Cognitive Skills - Problem Analysis, Problem Solving)
My project and the final outcomes and the concepts that go along with them has meant that I have had to take into account cultural and technological concerns. Culturally because I am considering a contemporary audience to be my main focal point/demographic as my whole concept is about a revival in the image representation of classical music. Technological considerations have been made on the fact of how the finals have been applied. Especially with the final GIFs where they would potentially be displayed on electronic bus stops or on websites as part of a digital online campaign.
5C6: Explore and apply a range of appropriate practical and conceptual approaches to self-determined ideas, concepts, solutions/proposals in response to own identified intentions and relevant practices. (Practical Skills -
Even though I had (nothing outcome wise or even in terms of my development which then in turn meant that I didn’t have anything conceptually) in the past few days so therefore I have literally pulled everything together right up until the deadline I feel that there are concepts and ideas in my work especially in the branding side of my concept with the whole ‘classic revival’ idea which has led to concepts forming around the record label, the

clothing brand which all act as part of a campaign to get classical music ‘revived’ to a modern day contemporary audience.
5C7: Produce technically competent and conceptually appropriate outcomes to identified problems through the selection and application of visual skills. (Practical Skills - Visual Quality and Technical Competence)
My practical approaches for my outcomes have been mainly digital with the exception a few drawn in elements brought into the final images and compositions. As well as perhaps the exception of including collage as they have been physically printed out images first as opposed to just using images sourced from the internet. With that I believe I have fully utilized the collage technique through digital means to convey my ideas and concepts and allow such images as the GIFs and album covers to look as effective as possible.
5D5: Demonstrate the ability to plan and carry out a period of increasingly self-directed study through the appropriate use of workshop areas, studio activities and project management skills. (Key Transferable Skills Presentation and Evaluation)
This is a part that I have not done very well with to be honest. It is clearly evident in my submission that I have not kept up to date well with my own self directed brief especially in the latter stages of the project. I have been aware for a while now just how poorly organized I seem to be at least this year anyway. However what is frustrating is Its not because I am being lazy as I am always doing something its because I am too bogged down with other module tasks and briefs so I don’t multitask them very well in that sense.

Summative Evaluation Usually with the projects I have done particularly the most recent ones I have found that I have had a major struggle due to the fact of starting late or not keeping up a good constant pace within the project and simply not managing to balance the work. At the start of 505 and right up until the pre-development stage I would say I was doing pretty well as I was working with collage quite regularly and I was exercising different ideas and potential images as well as embracing the medium of the GIF and trying to create unique responses and tests with the GIFs. However, over Easter my other modules had to be given priority and as a result my progress with my 505 project suffered dramatically. This has meant that rather unlike me usually all the ‘development’ and final outcomes as well as mockups to represent the application of the images have all been conceived and created within the final days right before final hand in. I may find that this has had a detrimental impact on my project and my final outcomes but as it goes I am pretty happy with what I have done despite a rush to get them made. A major regret of mine for this project is that since I have ended up creating final outcomes very late it means that I have not got the chance to make the most of actually producing them. Such as printing the album covers out properly or even the chance to create some prints, perhaps t-shirt prints which would help visualize the branding idea and concept more effectively even if they wouldn’t count as the actual final outcomes. One major positive to highlight is the fact of how how I have discovered a new love and interest for using found imagery in my work as I feel I now have a certain affiliation to collage and its also good to see how I am not alone in that respect. This is a positive thing to acknowledge as I believe I can treat as another string to the bow type of thing and it means there is another process I can say I can comfortably work with. It also means that for the future my work can include a combination/crossover of the other processes I have grown fond of. Such as the simple but effective method of crossing line drawing with the collage.
Its definitely been an odd project in terms of the research side of it and that’s why I feel my ideas were lacking at the initial starting out stage. I feel that if I were to have researched properly at the beginning of the project I would have given myself a proper platform to work from and would have been able to always base my work on something and ultimately link it back should I get stuck. Also with the research I didn’t know how to apply it within an inspirational/practitioners sense because I feel that the brief in which I have set myself is kind of a category in itself and although I haven’t looked into it a great deal I haven’t found any immediately relevant examples in an illustration/design sense. I did look into classical album cover designs and found that the vast majority of the designs are really quite plain and they didn’t seem particularly interesting or even make me want to listen to the music, so I built a certain basis conceptually on this idea. That if the cover designs themselves were interesting enough would it compel you enough to then listen the music. It’s a bit of a stretch of an idea but I felt it worked enough. I did also seek some inspiration design wise with the punk movement of the 1970’s. With infamous artists such as Jamie Reid and his work with the Sex Pistols forming a great deal of inspiration for me late on in the project especially when designing and creating my own album covers where I aimed to incorporate a punk aesthetic in order to drive my concept and what I was trying to convey. The Application element of the project I have really enjoyed as it is definitely gives some kind or rewarding feeling being able to see the designs/outcomes in context which gives me a certain drive to make me want to create work in the future and for my practice where it is used on products such as on clothing. I aimed to create a few different types of mockups for my products depending on what is suitable of course and choosing to only mockup relevant examples. Overall there is many positives and negatives to this project but I feel the positives should out-way the negatives. There many lessons to be learned as there always is and time management and juggling other responsibilities module wise has got to be something I get a full grip on however next year there might not be such a backlog and build up as the modules are more condensed down and focused so maybe this will be better for me. I feel I will be sure to take forward certain techniques that I have applied to my outcomes for this module such as collage and the digital methods that I fondly like to work with.
