Is it possible to win with these things? Dan Dear Dan, In my opinion, timeshares are a complete waste of time and money. Lots of folks go into this kind of thing believing they’ll play the game and win. They think they’ll get a vacation weekend and other free stuff, then just say “no” when the time comes. The problem is, most people aren’t as tough a sell as they think. Besides, do you really want to waste a weekend of your life letting some pushy salesperson twist your arm? That’s not my idea of fun. As a whole, timeshares have an incredibly high dissatisfaction rate. It’s almost impossible to find anyone who’s happy they bought into one, and there are good reasons for this. Why would you pay thousands of your hard-earned dollars for a tiny place you may or may not get a chance to visit once a year? Add to this the fact that you have no equity in the place, and you’re stuck

If I agree to one of these, does that mean the original creditor gets paid, too? to be handled this way when someone has defaulted on a loan. Unless you have the cash to make good on the debt outright, I’d go ahead and accept whichever deal makes the most sense for you and your current financial situation. You’ve already got a mark against you on your credit report for having this turned over to collections, so an indication of settlement on a credit card you defaulted on is really no big deal. am a Louisiana boy... I’m fixin’ to tell you something about being from Louisiana. Louisiana doesn’t mean that I’m not educated, quite the opposite, I’m bathed in a rich culture. I may speak a lil French, say “ain’t” and “y’all” and call you “Sweetie” or “Baby” or ‘Honey” or “Ché” and I might “bless a lot of hearts”
and I might even “piddle or pussyfoot around” over “dat” and “dere.” I may greet you with a big “How you,” “Howdy” or “Hey Y’all - how’s your mama n’nem”. Company WILL be served something to eat. All soda is a “cold drink” except “Coke”, that’s specific; if I ask for “sugar or sugah” it means I want a KISS.

Yes, I go “make” groceries and lived in a parish, instead of a county. I’m polite and say “Ma’am” and “Sir” and speak to everyone.... And if you hear a Louisiana boy say, “Oh, hell naw!!”, you better run, yeah. We eat gumbo, yearround, boiled crawfish, po boys dressed, and oysters on the half shell. Now, here’s the other side of my story. In 1950 when I was born, I spent my first summer in Big Spring, Texas. As time went on I spent many more summers on Highway 80 across from the Air Force Base and I had a ball. Saw my first rodeo in Big Spring and I love the people of West Texas. So, in 1977 when I got here I never lived in Louisiana again. Yeah, I get home sick, but I get homesick for the

That hurricane not only to up physical property, It also did it’s best to tear up a culture that goes back three hundred years. We Acadians are a tough lot and we don’t give up easy. Some may say we’re stubborn but because we don’t give up in means we get a lot done in a day. Of course it goes without saying there more reasons to stay in Texas than there are to go to Louisiana. First of all I’ve lived in Texas almost 43 years and I only lived in Louisiana 27 years. My daughters Kimberly and Claudia are both in Texas with my wonderful grand children. I do also have grand children in Oregon and in Canadia that I wish I could see, but I don’t see than happening unless I win the lottery. Of course. my main reason I am here is because I’ve been married to a wonderful Texas gal who help me to walk the straight and narrow. Last but not least, I’ve been able to start two businesses in Texas with no parters, or investors, so I am proud as punch to be pub-
