The City of Canton Water Department will temporarily return to the method of using free chlorine as part of an annual preventive maintenance program beginning September 26, 2019, and ending on or around, November 10, 2019. This procedure will only affect the City of Canton Utility Service Area. This is a routine procedure providing additional protection against bacteria and is a common practice for systems using combined chlorine. These temporary conditions will not cause adverse health effects, but some individuals may experience a slight change in taste or odor in the tap water during this period. All water customers who pay their bills directly to the City of Canton Utility Department will be affected. We regret any inconvenience our customers may experience during this period, keeping in mind that this task is part of our ongoing efforts to provide a safe, potable water supply for our drinking water customers. Some aquatic and marine animal species are sensitive to free chlorine; persons maintaining aquariums with any sensitive species may wish to contact their pet supply stores regarding dechlorination. I’ve gotten out of debt before following your plan, but I always seem to fall right back in. I find myself spending more than I mean to whenever I go out shopping or running errands. I’m tired of all this, and I want to stop busting my budget and get control of my money once and for all. Do you have any advice? Patrick Dear Patrick, Years ago, when I lost everything financially, there were two or three extremely strong emotions that spurred me toward change. Probably the biggest emotion was fear. I was scared to death I’d be broke for the rest of my life, and not be able to take care of my family. Don’t misunderstand me, though. I don’t think you should ever live your life in fear. But a reasonable, healthy level of fear where some things are concerned can be a fantastic motivator. Another emotion was disgust. I realized the way I had been living and handling money was stupid. So, I made a proactive, conscious decision that I was going to change, and things were going to be different. The third
emotion was contentment. You know, advertisers try to make us believe our lives will be better, and we’ll be happier, if we just go out and buy their stuff. I can tell you from personal experience when this idea is crammed down your throat every day, it can warp your perception of contentment and happiness. Lots of stuff does not equal lots of happiness. If you’ve tried several times, and are still falling back into the same old trap, maybe you should approach your situation in a practical, day-to-day way. Stop going places where you’re tempted to spend money on silly things. When you go out running errands and shopping, make a list of only the bare necessities, and take along just enough cash

to pay for them. Spending money on a bunch of stuff you don’t need, and probably don’t even really want, isn’t going to bring you contentment. As you may be aware, I have an extensive knowledge of popular music of the forties, fifties, sixties and seventies. I have come to find that a lot of today’s music leaves me cold. As an alternative, I have started listening to cover bands on You Tube. The reason many people my age like music from the afore mentioned era is because we find the music to be lacking on one thing nostalgia. However, I have gone one step further in my quest for music from my youth I have discovered two cover bands that are doing a stellar job of recreating the music of my youth. When I first discovered the Fendertones I thought I was listening to the Beach Boys, however the group does more than a great job in recreating the Beach Boys sounds of the sixties. There are probably as I don’t know maybe fifteen or twenty people in the Fendertones line up. It just goes to show you what Bryan Wilson went through to get the marvelous songs for the Beach Boys catalog. I highly recommend searching out eh Fendertones on You tube.
The second group I would like to shed some light on are a group known as Foxes and Fossils. The foxes are three young women who I believe to be the daughters of the leader of the band is Tim Purcell and unfortunately the band has semi-retired because the three young women have all left home to go to college. This group covered music from the seventies until the nineties from such diverse groups as Todd Rundgren, and Crosby, Stills Nash and Young. Their cover of Adele’s rollin in the deep is beyond stell0ar. I was shocked when I heard Gnarls Barkley’s version of do you think I’m crazy and yet with a harmonica! Check out Foxes and fossils on You tube. Finally what can you say about Post Modern Jukebox? They take popular songs, deconstruct them and turn them into something radically different AND to top it off they make it fun. One song from the eighties might be redone in doo-wop style, or whatever their creative mind can come up with. Post Modern Jukebox is also on You Tube. IN no particular order here are some of my fa-
vorites from the You Tube hall of hits. From the Fendertones includes; Sloop John B. The Little Girl I once knew and last but not least A song the Beach boys did for a Walt Disney Movie called the Monkey’s Uncle/ there are plenty more and on one of the videos John Cowsill played drums on one of the tracks. From Foxes and Fossils I liked Todd Rungran, “We’ve gotta find you a woman.: I also dug covers by CSN&Y and Adel as well as cuts by The Band Perry. the song by them was get hip to my heart. Next on the musical playlist is Post Modern Jukebox. This band exists in a alternate universe and you can’t put them in a particular box. PMJ is like waking up in a alternative universe and finding that all of your songs have been reinvented. Their slogan is new music, old style, But I think it’s much more than that.
