Mahmoud is a radio deejay in the Middle East.
Ministering in unlikely places
During his daily program, he reads excerpts from Josh’s books, including More Than a Carpenter, The Deity of Christ and Evidence That Demands a Verdict.
“I would like a copy of these books,” the caller said. He named the Josh books one by one, as someone who listens attentively to the station.
“At the end of each episode, we invite listeners to request a copy of the book they just heard from,” said Mahmoud.
“When I asked him for his address, he replied, ‘I’m in jail,’ and gave the name of the prison,” said Mahmoud. “He was using his telephone time to call us.”
Recently, Mahmoud received a surprising call.

1. D igital ministry was more effective than ever! “An overwhelming number of people are visiting our websites, Facebook pages, Instagram, WhatsApp, Zoom and other social media platforms,” said one of our partners. “They are accepting Jesus like never before!”
2. More Than a Carpenter offered much needed hope The caller, whose name was Yusef, was a Syrian refugee. In prison, he had left Islam and accepted Christ after experiencing a breakthrough moment with the messages he heard about Jesus through the radio program. “We sent him the books right away,” said Mahmoud. “Today, we also have someone who disciples Yusef by phone, as he is able to call us three times a week.”

2. Speak the truth of Jesus into an ever-changing culture Through more translations and culturally appropriate resources, we seek to spark new understanding about faith in Jesus and inspire renewed commitment and confidence in living life with Him.

4. Expand the scope of relevant topics As culture introduces new problems, we want to create new resources that equip Jesus followers to apply their faith in every aspect of their lives.

As you may remember, I experienced a breakthrough moment in college when I discovered, “It’s True!” In a life-changing, pivotal moment, I went from believing that nothing about Jesus seemed to add up, to admitting He was more than a carpenter . . . Jesus is all He claims to be! Ever since then, it’s been my life’s mission to help people experience life-changing breakthrough moments that lead them to that point where they, too “get it.” Thank you for making these breakthrough moments possible for so many through your generous support.
