2010 HALLOWEEN
On Friday afternoon those of us already at the Sawmill Resort relaxed together around the pool together waiting on the rest of the weekend participants to come rolling in. After a very relaxing day we all headed over to one of the onsite bars, Woody’s, for a fun night of BINGO hosted by Bill Hoeppner, International Leatherboy 2008, and Michael Brandon. Right after the prizes had been handed out for the BINGO games and the 50/50 raffle benefitting the Leather Archives and Museum was finished we headed next door to the Blade Bar for the contest meet and greet. Once the meet and greet was over at the Blade everyone made their way over to the Garage that was recently turned into an outdoor playspace (whistles innocently). Saturday morning all of the judges met back at the Garage to interview the contestants, and to have a little fun together as well. Whoever said that judging a contest isn’t supposed to be just as fun for the Judges and Contest Crew has clearly never been a part of a good judging panel. Once the interviews were over it was time for us all to head back to the pool for lunch, sun, and fun for the rest of the afternoon.
Saturday night after dinner it was time to head to the courtyard outside of Woody’s to gather for the public parts of the contest: Jock, Speech, and Fantasy. The contest, emceed by Bill Hoeppner and Michael Brandon, kicked off with some inspiring words by the weekend organizer boy Ray Tessier, Sawmill Leatherboy 2011. He spoke to this packed crowd about the strong need for unity among the Leather and Gay communities. At the end of the contest there were two new titleholders named, Mid-Florida LeatherSIR 2013, SIR E-Rock, and Mid-Florida Leatherboy 2013, boy jay. Although there was only one contestant in each category, the contestants were required to earn at least 70% of the possible points from the judges in order to win the title. This event was a lot of fun, and I certainly look forward to seeing how it grows in the future....
