PT Pusri Visual Identity
BRIEF
Redesign visual identity of a brand / company.
PROBLEMS
Pusri is one of the biggest BUMN in Indonesia, but most people underestimate the company’s value. The company looks old and boring, because the identity didn’t suit its vision and mission. It didn’t represent a strong, professional and modern company while it should.
SOLUTIONS
I set my focus on every details that could bring out the best of PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja, from logo to supergraphic. Everything is wrapped in a graphic standard manual book to keep a good identity. With all those things I want to bring a new and better face of PT Pusri to Indonesian public.

Weekend Hike Campaign
BRIEF
Make a social campaign.
PROBLEMS
According to my research, most of students in my university are interested in hiking. The wrong information and perception makes them too affraid to try. They think that hiking is for professional only and the activity takes too much time and energy.
SOLUTIONS
I introduce weekend-hike, a campaign to promote hiking that you can do over week-end. I want to make people believe that hiking is possible for beginners if they are doing it right. I promote mountains with easier tracks, give necessary information for beginners and in the same time challenge them to try this activity. Modern and simple graphic are main keys in the design.

Kampanye Sosial

Typography Book
BRIEF
Explore a font and make a book + poster to explain details about it.
PROBLEMS
Students were asked to make the best out of a font, explaining every inch of available details. I chose futura, one of my favorite font on the planet. There are not many books explaining details of this font, and most of them are quite boring and don’t match the futura concept.
SOLUTIONS
I started with explaining a brief history of typography before starting on “futura”. It’s quite important for readers to understand the basic before trying to understand a more comprehensive one. All futura families are used in this book, wether for text, title, or supergraphic. The concept of this book is to give a full ‘futura’ experience for readers.

The next great civilization, the Romans further developed the alphabet by using 23 letters from the Etruscans who based their language on the Greek. They took the letters ABEZHIKMNOTXY intact, they remodeled the CDGLPRSV and revived two Phoenicians letters discarded by the Greeks, the F and Q. THE FUTURA FAMILY
The Ancient Greek alphabet was in turn based upon the Phoenician alphabet. From the Cumae alphabet, the Etruscan alphabet was derived and the Romans eventually adopted 21 of the original 26 Etruscan letters. MINISCULES AND PRINTING Around 732 Charlemagne ordered a system of writing called the Caroline Miniscule which for the first time was the first lowercases that were more than just small versions of uppercase letters.

In the 1400’s Guttenberg invented a system of moveable type that revolutionized the world and allowed for dramatic mass printing of materials.

In 1500, a printer by the name of Aldus Manutius for the first time invented the concept of pocket or portable books. He also developed the first italic typeface, one of the first typeface variations.

From its first printed appearance in the West, type drew on existing forms, with the results then impacting on future designs. The letters printed in Renaissance Europe by Johann Gutenberg were a direct interpretation of the ornate gothic handwriting of the day; black-letter, in movable, reusable hot metal. Black-letter would also influence the first italic type cut by Francesco Griffo, which was largely informed by 16th century Italian handwriting. But it was the renewed interest in classic Greco-Roman culture, rather than technological, that would see our standard roman alphabet find its definitive printed expression. Lowercase letters developed because all type was hand copied by scribes who developed less ornate handwriting styles and started using quicker and smaller versions of the letters. The first system of lowercase letterforms was known as the semi-uncial. The U and W were slowly added and based on the letter V by the year 1000 words was not generally adopted until the eleventh

The early Humanist faces derived their majuscules from stone-carved Roman capital letters (hence the serifs) while their minuscules were adapted from the formal calligraphy of scribes. The more successful types revealed an ability to differentiate the written from the printed character, as evidenced by the letters of Nicolas Jenson. Extremely well-proportioned and unified in form, Jensons type reconciled capitals with small letters and provided the blueprint for future.

Some materials exhibit a property known as the photoelectric effect that causes them to absorb photons of light and release electrons. When these free electrons are captured, an electric current results that can be used as electricity. The photoelectric effect was first noted by a French physicist, Edmund Bequerel, in 1839, who found that certain materials would produce small amounts of electric current when exposed to light. In 1905, Albert Einstein described the nature of light and the photoelectric effect on which photovoltaic technology is based, for which he later won a Nobel prize in physics. The first photovoltaic module was built by Bell Laboratories in 1954. It was billed as a solar battery and was mostly just a curiosity as it was too expensive to gain widespread use. In the 1960s, the space industry began to make the first serious use of the technology to provide power aboard spacecraft. Through the space programs, the technology advanced, its reliability was established, and the cost began to decline. During the energy crisis in the 1970s.
The new building will be finished next year, and it s futuristic yet earth friendly. Photovoltaics is the direct conversion of light into electricity at the atomic level. Today's most common PV devices use a single junction, or interface, to create an electric field within a semiconductor such as a PV cell. In a single-junction PV cell, only photons whose energy is equal to or greater than the band gap of the cell material can free an electron for an electric circuit. In other words, the photovoltaic response of singlejunction cells is limited to the portion of the sun's spectrum whose energy is above the band gap of the absorbing material, and lower-energy photons are not used. Multijunction device is a stack of individual single-junction cells in descending order of band gap (Eg). The top cell captures the highenergy photons and passes the rest of the photons on to be absorbed by lower-band-gap cells. Photovoltaics (PV) is a method of generating electrical power by converting solar radiation into direct current electricity using semiconductors. A photovoltaic system (or PV system) is a system which uses one or more solar panels to convert sunlight into electricity. It consists of multiple components.
NEW FACILITIES GREEN AREA on the right side of the building, a public park will be built by the local small river. NO RESIDUE no industry residue in the whole area means the ground and water will not be contaminated, hence makes the best place for plants and animals. LIGHT EFFICIENCY the sun light will be maximilized in day time and earthfriendly LED light is used for night time. RECYCLE CENTER we recycle all the recycleable trash from our area, and will be used again. S ORT AREA the new office will have a sport area which consists soccer field, badminton and tennis court, swimming pool and gymnastic and it s open 24/7 for our men. O ONE TOWER a toer will be built in the heart of the area, whose function is to filter all the air circulation around to provide clean and healthy oxygen.

STAFF SOUFRIÈRE, ST. LUCIA -- THE TRAIL TO THE PEAK'S SUMMIT BEGINS IN A MEADOW FRINGED WITH ALL THINGS LUSH AND TROPICAL: BANANAS, GUAVAS, MANGOES, PAPAYAS, PASSION FRUIT. LOCAL RESIDENTS NAME IT THE GARDEN OF EDEN. - by Chris Voakes aradise is the cliché of choice when describing Caribbean isles, but the sensual appeal of places like this corner of St. Lucia seems to make it inevitable. The Pitons , the two soaring verdant peaks on the island's southwest coast , more than any Caribbean landmark define the richness of the islands. It's not their height that is impressive -- Gros Piton is 2,619 feet and Petit Piton, though more dramatic, only 2,460 feet -- it's their steepness and symmetry. Navigating the island's sinuous roadways, travelers repeatedly stumble upon fresh perspectives of the Pitons. The two peaks define St. Lucia: Hotels promote their most famous spot, the “Piton views,"
“In their shadow you find evidence of the island's geological roots, turbulent history, its hospitable residents, and , above and below the turquoise waters , its rich natural life.”
the mountains' profiles adorn the national flag, even the island's ubiquitous beer bears their name. So dramatic are the mountains that the United Nations named them a World Heritage Site two years ago in the United States. Rising violently from the ocean south of Soufrière, the Pitons are indeed -- as their French moniker suggests -- brilliant green spikes, instantly identified by sailors and tourists. For the visitor to St. Lucia, Gros Piton and Petit Piton offer a concentration of much of the island's attractions: In their shadow you find evidence of the island's geological roots, turbulent history, its hospitable residents, and , above and below the turquoise waters , its rich natural life. Dramatic in themselves, the Pitons are only remnants of a much larger mountain that exploded in a volcanic eruption more than 20,000 years ago. The caldera of that dormant volcano -Sulphur Springs park, which St. Lucians call ``the Caribbean's only drive-in volcano" -- daily draws buses full of tourists who gather at the edge , holding their noses
and marveling at the ash-laden bubbling broth. But the Pitons themselves offer quieter pleasures to both hikers and snorkelers. I decided to sample them, first by climbing Gros Piton, later by snorkeling along the base of Petit Piton, whose vertiginous slopes plunge into the sea, transformed into steep coral walls rich in marine life. “Some climb the mountain with their feet, most just with their eyes," said my taxi driver , Christopher . He navigated carefully along the rough, twisting dirt road that leads from the Vieux Fort road south of Soufrière to the Gros Piton Nature Trail. Several times he had to ford the L'Ivrogne River, only six inches or so deep but subject to flooding, he said. Soon we reached the Fond Gens Libre (Village of the Free People), a community of roughly 115 residents founded during a slave rebellion in 1748. There I met Virginia, who would conduct me up and down the mountain barefoot. The trail up Gros Piton is well constructed and easy to follow but very steep, with a vertical gain of 2,000 feet. After passing through the ``Garden of Eden," we came upon one of the caves used by runaway slaves centuries ago. It was about 20 feet in diameter and at most three feet high, and must have been cramped quarters indeed for the dozen or more people who hid. Halfway up, we rested at a cliff that gave us the hike's best views of Petit Piton to the north. The smaller but steeper twin can also be climbed, but only by those in very good shape and able to pull themselves upward on fixed cables. The second half of the hike up Gros Piton is much steeper. PRODUCT OF THE MONTH
DEUTER AIR CONTACT PRO 60+15 LITER EXPEDITION RUCKSACK The Air Contact Pro is gigantic and no matter how much I tried to fill every nook and cranny, the sack just swallowed it all up. The two useful side pockets remained unused. There is plenty of strapping that takes a bit of getting used. The huge top pocket takes all required for quick access, the main sack can be accessed from on top which is also useful. Once on, the trick is to fasten the main hip belt first. This fits snugly round the hips and takes most of the load bearing weight. The upper straps just adjust the balance. On the trail the sack never felt unbalanced. On the odd times that I began to feel some pressure on my shoulders a quick adjustment (tightening) of the hip belt and the weight was transferred effectively back to the hips. This is where our previous sacks let us down and led to tired and sore shoulders. Not with this sack. All in all this is a very fine expedition sack and probably the best out there in our opinion. Ok, yes it has yet to withstand the rigours of the Patagonian Icecap, but I feel confident it will perform well. It is expensive at 150GBP ( 175), but well worth it for the longer treks or expeditions. Recommended! PERFORMANCE DURABILITY COMFORT OVERALL

have similar characteristics with Lake Sentani. Travel into inner Papua can be relaxing when commenced with a visit to Lake Sentani, a scenic beauty over glittering water located near Jayapura, capital city of Papua. The stillness of the water is most peaceful, evoking a peculiar wonder whether such a lake should indeed exist in paradise. The embracing Cyclops Mountains to the north and the lush vegetation as backdrop, securely protect the twenty four villages surrounding the lake. The people here are friendly and creative, carving their reputation among the best craft makers in the land of Papua. ACTIVITIES To best experience the excitement of boating on the lake, rent a motorized canoe available at one of the villages. The guide who has taken you on the overnight tour from Jayapura will show you where to get one of the dugout canoes. Experience the thrill of being caressed by the warm breeze while speeding on the lake, photograph the stilt houses, know the local, and make friends with your guide, and eventually boldly brag about it in the travel blogs.

SHORT HISTORY Lake Sentani and its surrounding areas was once the training field for amphibious aircraft landings. It was built by the Japanese and taken over by the US Army in 1944. American war legend, General McArthur was said to have gazed on the lake and its 22 islets, and came up with his victorious island-hopping strategy. Living as fish farmers, and the close location to the provincial capital, are

The History
planting the sweet potato resulted in great yields which also helped to increase the population in Irian’s highlands.
The first inhabitants of Irian, black skinned and frizzy haired, first arrived from the west perhaps 60,000 years ago. While the sea level was considerably lower at the time of man’s first migrations to Australia and New Guinea, there were still stretches of ocean to cross. rising seas eventually cut off Australia from New Guinea and led to the divergent gene pools which now show up in the somewhat different physical types. Small groups settled along the seashores and short distances inland, living from hunting, fishing and gathering. There must have been but slight contact between these groups on what was to merge as the island of New Guinea. In recent studies, linguists were amazed to learn that on this island, with only 0.01 per cent of the earth’s population, 15 per cent of the world’s languages are spoken. Out of an almost incredible 800 languages (not dialects), about 550 are found in Papua New Guinea and some 250 in Irian Jaya.
The island of New Guinea was “discovered” in the early 16th century for the European world as a by-product of the search for the spice islands. But whites hardly ever landed - let alone go inland - until well into the 19th century. About all that was known was that slaves, along with birds of paradise, were the chief exports and that the Sultan of Tidore claimed some ill-defined parts of western Irian. When Britain - and later Germany - started claiming parts of eastern New Guinea, Holland asserted her ownership of the western part of the island. Most of Irian’s interior was a geographical blank until the early years of this century when a series of expedition, led by Dsuitch military forces, first ventured for inland. The Baliem Valley - with over 50,000 inhabitants - was not discovered until 1938 and even today many areas are still “tierra incognita”.
By 4000 B.C., agriculture was well developed, leading to some population concentration and stable social structure. Then the next waves of immigration began washing up on Irian’s shores. The newcomers, who originated from south china and dispersed from Taiwan, slowly spread over a time span of two millennia to populate the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Micronesia and Polynesia. In most areas, this new breed, called Austronesian, replaced existing populations thanks to their more advanced technology in tools, weapons and agricultural skills. But in New Guinea, the majority of the long-established Papuans successfully resisted assimilation by the Austronesians who established themselves only on some nearby islands and coastal strips. The next great step in Irian’s history was the “sweet potato revolution”. Plant geneticists still have not established an accurate date for the introduction of the sweet potato to New Guinea, but the impact of this new tuber revolutionised the population distribution and resulted in large increases. The sweet potato, unlike taro and other previously planted crops, grows well above the 1,500 metre line of altitude. This crucial fact placed its cultivation beyond the normal range of the malarial mosquito which had - up to then - kept down the number of humans. The intensive agricultural technique of
World War Two put New Guinea on the map of world consciousness with a series of vicious battles during which the Japanese were defeated by the Allied forces under General Douglas MacArthur. After the war and the independence of Indonesia, Holland tried to hang on to Dutch West New Guinea. Military engagements and diplomatic pressures forced the turning over of Irian to the United Nations which, after a short transition period, handed the territory over to Indonesia in 1961. Indonesia’s province of Irian Jaya, representing 22 per cent of its total land mass, spreads over the western half of New Guinea which is the second largest island in the world (after Greenland). The shape of this 800,000 sq. km island, north of Australia, resembles a squatting bird with a neck which narrows to a few kilometres before joining a large peninsula called the Bird’s Head. A cordillera of mountains runs the length of New Guinea, topped by Puncak Jaya which, at 4,884 metres, is the highest peak between the Himalayas and the Andes. The rugged highlands which surround the mountains hold most of the population. Closely packed, radically different ecological zones result from the combination of tropics, steeply rising elevations and weather patterns. Rivers play no role in Irian’s economy but two drainage systems dominate the geography. In the north, the Memberamo River

suggest that its reefs may be relatively resistant to threats like coral bleaching and coral disease, which now jeopardize the survival of other coral ecosystems around the world. The Raja Ampat islands are remote and relatively undisturbed by humans.
GET AROUND Commonly, divers will join a tour and live in a diving resort during their stay in the Raja Ampat Islands. To access diving spots, please contact and use the professional diving organizers, who can be conveniently found in Sorong.
The high marine diversity in Raja Ampat is strongly influenced by its position between the Indian and Pacific Oceans, as coral and fish larvae are more easily shared between the two oceans. Raja Ampat’s coral diversity, resilience, and role as a source for larval dispersal make it a global priority for protection.
Before going to a dive spot, you’ll need to obtain a permit from the local Papua police station. You will need to bring your passport and three copies of the passport page with the Indonesian Visa. The diving organizers can help you with these formalities from Sorong, there are two type of boats available;
1,309 fish species, 537 coral species (a remarkable 96% of all scleractinia recorded are likely to occur in these islands and 75% of all species that exist in the world), and 699 mollusk species, the variety of marine life is staggering. Some areas boast enormous schools of fish and regular sightings of sharks, such as wobbegongs.
Speed Boat (40 minutes - 1 hour boat trip, carries 15 passengers and costs Rp2 million/US$208.55); Long Boat (2-3 hour boat trip and carry 10 passengers for the cost of Rp1,2 million/ US$126). Please note that all rates are subject to change without notice.
Although accessing the islands is not that difficult, it takes some time. It takes six hours flight from Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia to Sorong. Then, taking boat to reach part of the islands is indeed necessary. GET IN Flying from Jakarta/ Bali to Sorong, with connecting flights in Makassar or Manado are offered by Merpati, Express Air, Batavia, Lion Air, Wings Air, Silk Air, Garuda Indonesia. You need a permit to enter West Papua. The formalities will be completed by your operator but don’t forget to bring passport, 3 copies of Indonesian Visa and an ID picture.
reasons why most of the population around the lake are open to visitors. Stilt houses with ponds and nets are common landscapes. The lake is home to at least 33 species of fish, of which almost half of them are native. The Sawfish (Pristis microdon) was once the premier host of the lake, which today is said to have become extinct. This fish is one of the indigenous ornaments found on Sentani’s woodcrafts.
