SURFACE
design + fabrication
INSTRUCTORS | Teresa Bucco, Sarah Drake DATE | Spring07
The assignment was to design and fabricate an architectural surface. The surface was required to be free-standing and comprised of a repetitive componant. The design for the surface was inspired by the irregularites of rock surfaces. Surface components were explored as folded material. The folding pattern creates a slotted joint for nesting left and right handed components. Folded and assembly for these components was specified in a simple set of construction documents. The full-scale assembly was constructed out of galvanized sheet metal, which was folded on a magnabend machine.
