VIVID KILLS FLAT LIGHT VIVID lets you ride with the feeling of a bluebird day, even when the skies turn milky. An age-old problem for skiers and snowboarders is flat light—when clouds or haze compromise your ability to see terrain with the naked eye. Then your confidence diminishes. Our goal in creating VIVID was to kill flat light and give you high-contrast vision so you can read terrain clearly and ride more freely, more powerfully, and more decisively.

THE SCIENCE OF VIVID In partnership with ZEISS®, we created our patented VIVID technology to optimize vision in all snowaffected light environments. VIVID technology does this by blocking out the spectrum of light that creates flat light conditions. More importantly, VIVID allows in the spectrum of light that improves contrast in snow conditions—the blue light part of the spectrum. This is the VIVID difference. The result is maximum contrast to see the details of your terrain, while also providing full UV protection.

ROOTED IN THE WASATCH MOUNTAINS ARE THE LENS THAT GIVES US THE RIGHT FOCUS. When it comes to mountain access, Utah’s Wasatch Range and the greater Salt Lake area is a unique and special place. There is no city in America, and very few in the world, where you can transport yourself into towering alpine mountains more quickly or more easily. In 15 to 30 minutes from your driveway, the Wasatch lay out a wide sampling of badassery: world-class ski areas, world-class backcountry zones, world-class mountain biking. And lots of snow. With Giro’s Park City office, we have an everyday connection to mountains. A few times a week, the day starts with a dawn patrol tour in Little Cottonwood Canyon to surf untracked lines. In winter, a “lunch run” doesn’t involve our running shoes—it’s a matter of hopping over to the Canyons for some hot laps. With Woodward five minutes away, it’s super easy bring our riders to town to film a park edit and brainstorm product. In May as most of the world shifts into warm-weather endeavors, buttery corn snow descents are always an option as long as you have a set of skins. Throughout the season, we have countless opportunities to hang with other skiers and riders at Park City apres spots, the Plaza at Snowbird, or the parking lot at Brighton. Even after the snow melts each year, our immersion in mountain life continues—daily mountain bike rips, extended trail runs, high-alpine hikes, and easy detours to spots like Moab. These experiences inform and drive the innovations that we push in helmets and goggles. In the course of the design process, there are hundreds of choices to make; life in the Wasatch is the invaluable filter through which our snow design crew refines and hones the final products you see in this catalog. Being Rooted in the Wasatch—this makes everything we do better.

SNAPSHOT - MAGNETIC INTERCHANGE LENS SYSTEM Our Snapshot Lens Interchange System utilizes self-locating rare earth magnets and a secure locking mechanism for fast, on-the-fly (or on the chairlift) virtually effortless lens interchange. Upon contact with the frame, the lens simply snaps into place and then locks down securely. When the clouds roll in simply depress the shutter button, release the lens and insert the lens of your choice.

CONFORM FIT TECHNOLOGY

Spherical Technology, powered by Mips®, is a refinement and evolution of the Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (Mips). With this sophisticated design, two layers of foam fit together like a ball-and-socket. This system helps protect the brain from rotational energy by allowing up to 10- to 15-millimeters of relative motion between the helmet and head during the first milliseconds of an impact.

Mips can provide more protection in certain impacts. The main components of a Mips-equipped helmet are the interior foam liner, the low friction liner, and an elastomeric attachment system. In an angled impact, the elastomeric attachment system stretches to allow the foam liner to rotate independently around your head.

The fully integrated Conform Fit System utilizes a two-piece shell that literally forms to the rider’s head shape by expanding and contracting with the turn of a dial. A truly adaptive design, it features a durable yet semi-flexible EPP construction that provides the lowest-profile fit we’ve ever created and unsurpassed custom comfort.

Hybrid Construction merges a durable ventilated Hard Shell upper with an In-Mold construction lower shell plus sidewalls for added protection and style. With Hybrid Construction the helmet is beefed up for added durability while remaining lightweight. Hybrid Construction also features an impact absorbing and lightweight EPS foam liner.

D2 Construction pairs two densities of Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) foam to manage both highand low-energy impacts. Additionally, EPP offers impressive resilience—this crushable foam regains its shape and retains some of its protective qualities after multiple impacts.

In-Mold Construction fuses a tough polycarbonate outer shell with the helmet’s impact-absorbing foam liner. The fusion process allows for better ventilation systems, making In-Mold helmets lighter and cooler than traditional helmets.

Hard Shell Construction produces great helmets at a great value. A rugged outer shell is molded and then attached to the EPS foam liner.

The In Form 2 System is lighter and lower profile than the original, making it even easier to dial in a custom fit in seconds—even with gloves on. The updated On-The-Fly Vertical Tuning feature accommodates different goggles and head shapes for a custom fit free of gaper gap.

The discrete exterior vent design and interior channeling (including the liner and padding) combine to create optimal airflow and temperature regulation. This auto-venting technology manages airflow and temperature-motion riding, hiking, or standing static.

STACK VENT

FIDLOCK® MAGNETIC BUCKLE CLOSURE

Thermostat Control Adjustable Venting control allows you to custom tune airflow instantly with a simple, low profile control button on the outside of the helmet. No other system is faster or easier to adjust, and nothing is more effective at keeping you comfortable.

Our Stack Vent was developed based on research showing the majority of the warm air that can cause fogging exhausts from the center top vent of the goggle. Aligning the Stack Vent in the helmet with the vent of your goggles helps to keep them clear and fog free.

The pinch-free, one-handed Fidlock® Magnetic Snap helmet buckle combines the advantages of two fastening concepts in a completely new way. Strong magnets make it easy to open and close, while a secure snap functionality ensures a continuous locking force.
