sciences-po.unef.fr
Foreign students in SciencesPo: same studies, same rights ! The student representative elections will take place on February 4th and 5th 2014. These elections give each student the opportunity to vote for the student union that will represent them in Sciences Po’s decision-making councils. UNEF runs in each of these councils : the Conseil de direction and the Commission paritaire.

International student, full-degree or exchange, you can vote too. Here is why you should !
Easier and clearer access to information Currently, Sciences Po’s integration and information week, that provides students with important details about studies in Sciences Po, but also student life in general, has a limited number of spots and participants are charged 250€. It is abnormal that there is a discrimination between those who can pay for this week and those who cannot. That is why UNEF asks for a free Welcom Program.
Solving the issue of course registration
All newcomers in Sciences Po face the same recurrent problems during their course registration. The language barrier accentuates even more the difficulty of this process for foreign students and UNEF asks for the creation of a special assistance process for this process.
Improving studying conditions As the number of seats in the library is very limited, we claim the creation of a “free room planning” so that students can study in unoccupied classrooms during the day.

s! International students are no cash-cow Foreign students from a country outside of the European Economic Area are automatically forced to pay the highest rate of tuition. Unlike other students, tuition is not calculated according to their parents’ income and UNEF has always condemned this unfair system! We organized a campaign over the reform of Sciences Po’s social assistance policy and this movement was massively supported by the students through our petition, which got more than 1900 signatures.
Thanks to UNEF’s mobilization, we won :
The creation of the “Commission de Suivi Social internationale” : a commission dedicated to help international students facing issues with paying tuition by reducing tuition fees for them. We have also guaranteed that international students can appeal to it even if the difficulties in question occured before they were admitted to Sciences Po (unemployed parent…). The suppression of the academic criterion to keep the Boutmy scholarship : this scholarship is aimed at foreign students but to keep it from one year to another, one had to be among the top 50% students in the year. UNEF has won the suppression of this requirement, ensuring less uncertainty for the students from one year to the other. In these elections, we want to go further to change concretely studying and living conditions of foreign students in Sciences Po: UNEF strives to ensure that non-EEA students do not automatically pay the maximum rate of tuition fees (9800€/year for the Bachelor, 13500€ for the masters) and be integrated into the graduated system used for French and EU students. At the national level, at the CROUS in particular, UNEF fights to integrate foreign students in the same social assistance system as French students. This is not currently the case, even though foreign students are often financially insecure, especially in Paris.
