Great! An in-person event is the fastest, easiest way to distribute yearbooks and it builds a dynamic school climate and culture at the same time.
It isn’t ideal, but distributing yearbooks from a social distance is possible, maintains school traditions and can contribute to school climate and culture.

While an in-person celebration is the best way to distribute yearbooks, it is possible to plan a socially distanced event that captures the heart of your school community.

S PA C E Choose a location that allows for social distancing both for those who are handing out yearbooks and for those who are picking one up. If people will remain in their cars, select a space that can accommodate multiple lanes.
P L A N C A R E F U L LY Based on the space you have and number of yearbooks you need to hand out, recruit enough people to help. Yearbook boxes are heavy. You won’t want to carry them far, so be sure you have a way to transport them easily. Give families specifics about date, time, location and logistics in communications. 16
C O L L A B O R AT E Inform local police so they can support smooth traffic flow in and out of the parking lot, whether at your school or elsewhere.

O T H E R C O N S I D E R AT I O N S For a Socially Distanced Distribution
S TA G G E R P I C K U P S Depending on your space and the number of books you are distributing, consider staggering pickup times, such as by grade or by payment status (prepaid or purchase on-site).
18
COLOR CODE If staggering pickups by grade, consider placing a colored sticky note on the windshield as people drive into the parking lot. Red/Pink = personalized yearbook Green = unpersonalized yearbook Yellow = purchase on-site at distribution
ORGANIZE Consider entering sales information into Google Sheets so pickups are logged in real time. Organize each distribution station away from others to promote traffic flow and social distancing. Hang large signs to direct traffic to the correct location.

D I G I TA L Y E A R B O O K S I G N I N G Encourage Jostens digital yearbook signing. Students invite others to virtually sign their yearbook so they don’t lose out on this beloved tradition. The best part is that the digital fun is printable so the notes can be kept forever.
POSITIVITY SIGNS As people enter the parking lot, give them Positivity Signs so they can give a shout out to a teacher or something they miss about school. Take photos and post on social media. Download Positivity Signs at www.yearbookavenue.com/blog.
F E S T I V E AT M O S P H E R E Get balloons. Play music. Decorate sidewalks with chalk. Celebrate your community by making your space festive.
