FRIDAY NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT
Leo Mask & the County Mounties Born with a guitar always close at hand, Leo Mask is carrying on the tradition that his dad, the late Charles Mask, started when he formed a band to play at various benefits. And anytime someone is in need of music to be played to help raise money for a person in need of hospital bills to be paid or any other charitable event, you can be rest assured that if at all possible, Mask and his band will be there. The same people might not alway sing in his band, but he always has Roddy Thompson on the keyboard. Mask’s son, Drew also helps out now and then by playing his guitar, passing on the legacy from his dad. Their music is wide and varied, from country to gospel. So get your toe tapping shoes out and enjoy the music as you shop down Main Street on Friday of Bodock.

FUN ACTIVITIES

Older children and adults can help by glazing the art pieces that were created last fall during the festival to prepare it to be fired again. There are two different time slots you can come to do these projects, either 10 a.m. - 12 noon or 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Coordinator Dr. Lee Waltress invited everyone to come to the park and enjoy being artists that day.

Come enjoy a bit of fun and with a day pass you can go back as much as you wish. Activities will go on Friday and Saturday. The petting zoo will be Saturday only.
26 | Bodock Festival 2019
Learn our historical heritage at the Town Square Post Office museum If you have not been to the Town Square Post Office museum in awhile, the Bodock Festival is the perfect opportunity to do so. It is located just behind the main stage and will be the great place to stop and cool off during the heat. Step into yesteryear as you travel back to a time when the Chickasaws roamed these red hills. Explore the many arrowheads on display and learn of the history of these unconquerable people through the art of Martha Ann Sheffield. And if you enjoy that make sure you put on your calendar to come back September 6 at 4 p.m. at the Gateway pavilion for an afternoon to interact with the Chickasaws. Step downstairs and you will hear the voices of yesterday waft through the corridors of time as you enjoy the almost life sized picture of the court square as it looked on a busy day in 1928. Remember the kind touch of a doctor as you browse through Dr. John Patterson’s office which has the many things he used while healing the folks in Pontotoc County. Give your children a taste of life as you lived it as you take a walk in an old country store as well as a hat and dress shop. A farmstead kitchen as well as an old time school
room is also set up downstairs. Our heroes of the past are on display in the military room. Honoring all those who fought to give you the freedom to live and walk here. Explore the music of Danny Walls, Jimmy Weatherly and Ruby Elzy. Enjoy the art of M.B. Mayfield, and see how a newspaper was put together in the early years; and many more displays that will remind you of the sweat and toil that people went through to make Pontotoc a great place to live. The museum will be open from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday. You will find various books and jewelry to purchase and take home and enjoy for years to come.
