Allgood helps keep annual Double Decker moving BY JOHN DAVIS OXFORD CITIZEN
Jimmy Allgood likes to see people have fun. He also likes to see them stay safe at the same time. Oxford’s Director of of Emergency Management has been working closely with the Double Decker Arts Festival since 2001. His role has expanded over the years,
just as his department has, but his goal has never changed and that is for thousands and thousands of people looking to have a good time stay protected. “We started out by moving our mobile command post for emergency services just for normal Double Decker operations. It also gives us a command post just in case something does happen,” Allgood said. “We have a place to meet, sit down
and work out of. A few years ago with the Boston bombings, we got the state Homeland Security team in and we bring in dogs and do a search for both the Square and at the run.” A typical day for Allgood on Double Decker weekend begins early. He is there when the first vehicle is towed away in TURN TO ALLGOOD PAGE 5
