SENIORS WILL STRIKE HARD FOR SOUTH PONTOTOC TENNIS

Senior standout Colton Fuqua has scholarship offers on the table and is set to lead the South Pontotoc tennis team to success this season.
Fellow senior Nikki Raines is also poised to continue her career on the courts after high school, and she looks to notch wins on the ladies’ side.
Both Fuqua and Raines will provide an example for younger players, according to Coach Helen Bowen.
“Colton and Nikki are great examples of the sportsmanship and excellence we aspire to here at South Pontotoc, and we’re looking forward to seeing what they achieve in their senior seasons,” said Bowen.
Raines finished as the third top competitor in the state last season.
Last year was the first season South didn’t make it to state competition in years, Bowen said, and that should change this year.
Underclassmen will gird up the roster.
Caitlyn Ard and Jada Washington are both juniors and players to watch, Bowen said, as is sophomore Will Angle. Conner Walls is an eighth-grader who made varsity this year.
