The Time for Peace Is Now

Peace activist and publisher of this magazine Barbara Gaughen-Muller spoke to the Peace Committee of Rotary District 5450 and delivered this message: Peace is

possible and the time for peace is now.

Barbara read a letter featured on the cover of the September, 2015, issue of The Rotarian that began, "Dear Polio, We have bad news for you." She then called for a similar letter calling for the 35,000 Rotary clubs around the world to focus on ending war. "What is peace?" she asks and then explains that it is "a process, an internal state of knowing that peace is what you are going to do every single day. It is a journey, not necessarily a destination."

As she and her late-husband Robert Muller, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, traveled around the world speaking to Rotary Clubs and other peace builders, the focus of their message was always the same:

Peace begins with me and starts with a conversation.
