BIOGRAPHY
My name is Jozef Miguel Radvansky, born in Etobicke, Ontario, Canada. Raised in Mississauga, Ontario, graduated from Clarkson Secondary highschool in 2006. Graduated from Sheridan College in 2012 as an Architectural Technologist. Gained practical experience in Architecture and Engineering firms. Attending Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. In fourth year of the McEwen School of Architecture. My passions include architectural design through light and the absense of light. The architect Antoni Gaudi is a significant inspiration in my career. After visiting the Sagrada Familia, I decided to pursue the career title of Architect. My Goals are to assist communities through carefully thought out designs. Which benefit the peoples experiences of the built environment. Everyday is an opportunity to learn something new and apply these leesons.

NVIRONMENT SAMI CULTURAL CENTRE The Well Tempered Environment ARCH 3306 Professor Ted Wilson
Start date in 2008 with completion in 2012 The Sami people (Laplanders) are an Indigenous Finno-Ugric people inhabiting the Arctic area of Sápmi, today encompassing parts of far northern Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the Kola Peninsula of Russia Inari village is a population centre in the municipality of Inari in Finland and was founded in 1876 The Sami Cultural Centre houses the Sami Parliament, the Sami Education Centre, the Sami Archives, the state provincial office of Lapland and a number of other associations The cleverly designed 4 point structure reaches in to the surrounding forest without actually disturbing the trees. In this location of the world trees take a long time to replenish. The load-bearing structure is mainly constructed from concrete cast in-site to facilitate reasonably complex geometry. Thermal insulation exceeds the rigorous Finnish standards. To compensate for the remote location and large wood surfaces, the building has a water-mist sprinkler system.
The structure is Plentiful in the use of wood. The façade is defined by massive, full height vertical planks aligned
to eaves line. Behind the planks the façade is clad in vertical boards and glass. All timber in the façade is spruce, treated with iron sulphate.
The total usable floor space is 4800m2
PG.17
The structures interior consist of wood, walls of the auditorium and parliament hall are clad in horizontal specially selected and treated pine boards. Consisting of a feel of being hand crafted. Reference Material: http://www.archdaily.com/228027/sami-cultural-center-sajos-halo-architects

BENEFITS OF SOUTH ORIENTATION OF WINDOWS: IN NORTHERN CLIMATES, BUILDINGS STRIVE TO INCLUDE THE SUN’S NATURAL HEATING CAPABILITIES. THIS MOVEMENT ALLOWS FOR PASSIVE HEATING WHICH RESULTS IN A WELL-TEMPERED ENVIRONMENT AND A REDUCTION IN ENERGY COSTS. A GOOD DESIGN WILL ALLOW THE WINTER SUN TO PENETRATE THE INTERIOR OF THE BUILDING AND ON THE CONTRARY, REPELING THE INTENSE SUMMER SUN BY SOLAR SHADING DEVICES.

SOLAR HEAT GAIN COEFFICIENT (SHGC) IS THE FRACTION OF
JAMB DOUBLE GLAZING
INCIDENT SOLAR RADIATION ADMITTED THROUGH A WINDOW, BOTH DIRECTLY TRANSMITTED AND ABSORBED AND SUBSEQUENTLY RELEASED INWARD SHGC IS EXPRESSED AS A NUMBER BETWEEN 0 AND 1. THE LOWER A WINDOW’S SOLAR HEAT GAIN COEFFICIENT, THE LESS SOLAR HEAT IT TRANSMITS.
SHADING COEFFICIENT (SC) IS A MEASURE OF THERMAL
PERFORMANCE OF A GLASS UNIT (PANEL OR WINDOW) IN A BUILDING. IT IS THE RATIO OF SOLAR GAIN (DUE TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT) PASSING THROUGH A GLASS UNIT TO THE SOLAR ENERGY WHICH PASSES THROUGH 3MM CLEAR FLOAT GLASS.
U-VALUE CALCULATION FOR WINDOWS CONSISTS OF THREE KINDS OF DIFFERENT U-VALUES ů Uw (W=WINDOW) - OVERALL VALUE OF THE WINDOW ů Ug (G=GLAZING) - U-VALUE OF THE GLAZING ů Uf (F=FRAME) - U-VALUE OF THE FRAME
SHADING DEVICES IN NORTHERN CLIMATES REPEL
THE INTENSE HIGH ANGLED SUMMER SUN BY THE USE OF WIDE OVERHANGS AND CURTAINS DEFERING THE BUILDING FROM OVER HEATING. IN THEWINTER, THE LOW ANGLE OF THE SUN WOULD BEABLE TO PENETRATE THE INTERIOR OF THE BUILDING ALLOWING THE INTERIOR TO BE NATURALLY HEATED. WINDOWS ORIENTED IN THE EAST AND WEST DIRECTIONS SHOULD ALSO INCLUDE SOLAR SHADES FOR BRIGHT EARLY SUNRISES AND BLINDING SUMMER SUNSETS.
WINDOWS WITH A U-VALUE OF 0.8 W/m²K OR BETTER MEET THE PASSIVE HOUSE STANDARD

WINDOW SYSTEM U-VALUE THROUGH THE LIFE SPAN OF THE WINDOWS PROJECTING FOR +30 YEARS USING DOUBLE PANE WINDOWS WILL SAVE ENERGY, SAVE MONEY, AND ADD VALUE TO THE BUILDING. THEY ARE ALSO GREAT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, ALLOWING THE USER TO BURN LESS FOSSIL FUELS TO HEAT THE BUILDING. THEY ARE A GREAT INSULATOR AND SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE SOUND TRANSMITIONS FROM THE EXTERIOR.

HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT Uw RELATES TO THE ENTIRE WINDOW Uw IS ALSO INFLUENCED BY THE LINEAR HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT (g=GLAZING) AND THE SIZE OF THE WINDOW. THE Ug-VALUE IS A FUNCTION OF THE TYPE OF GAS FILLING OF THE INTERMEDIATE SPACE BETWEEN THE GLASS SHEETS, THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE SHEETS AND THE NUMBER OF SHEETS

The year is 3142... A Human complex of red Mars stone, protects the colonists from the red sand storms, what lies beyond the Alpha Centauri ridge is unknown, the Helm is the battlement of solid defence, rising up to the martian sky, we will outlast them in here, for with out oxygen we will surely die, the dome is a refuge the core of our home, self supporting and built to last, deep within the red mountain we carved out a space, to house the colonist of Alpha Centauri, the first Human colonist race. Look up, look way up to the dome sky above, lightwells filter in the red martian sky, an ominous red we are all doomed to die, but today we live, the zones of red concrete mass are the walls we call home, the woman, men and children protected at all cost, for we are to defend our colony at all costs, an unknown creature lurks within the shadows, for our doom is at hand, with the hammer comes the anvil.
