Bulletin Boards Pleasesee the bulletin board assignment list to see which you will be utilizing to display Standards BasedStudent Work. In addition to the one by your classroom, there are general boards that are scheduled on a rotating basis for you to share and celebrate student work. If you are unsure of the content/arrangement of your bulletin board, pleasefeel free to see your immediate supervisor for feedback or input. Pleaseadhere to the following when planning and setting up your bulletin board work:  The language of the Standard posted is clear and utilized with, for

and by students. A sentence strip can be used to highlight the lesson’s objective/Standard taught. For example, a 2nd Grade Bulletin Board may be reflecting the student’s demonstration of their understanding and acquired knowledge from a piece of literature. The Standard is: Describe how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges. This should be clearly outlined on the bulletin board and demonstrating the students understanding and learning of this Standard addressed.  Standards based work should be the only work displayed in the

hallway. Students must have met the Standard (3 or 4) to be placed on the bulletin board. All bulletin boards must be accompanied by a Rubric which was created with the students as a basis for the work’s objectives.  Teacher comments should be placed on student work. All student work

should reflect a “Glow & Grow”. The Glow is a comment on something the child did well and the Grow is something the child could do better. An example of a comment for writing could state: Your sequenceof events has shown great improvement from your original draft. The flow using a problem and solution made the ending very interesting. You may think about using more figurative language in your future stories to make it more interesting to the reader. The comments should encompassteaching points from the lessons taught

during your mini lesson or during conferencing. They are purposeful and specific to help move a child along as well as celebrate their work.  The following is unacceptable to for a bulletin board and not Standards Based: • Cookie cutter – such a colored in sheet or story starter, worksheets that are filled in. • Store bought items • Pictures that are not relevant to the Standards • Only teacher written work • Empty bulletin boards
