FAT “CORE”-LESSNESS Coreless as the eradication of the traditional vertical core through a set of collossal structural boxes able to house not just mechanical and egress programs, but all “enclosed” activities along with circulation. The core is replaced by stacked boxes that take over 70% of the buildable space. These fat boxes then serve as the main structural members with a secondary system of clomuns locateed in the perimeter of the box. No walls are needed outside the boxes. Site response FAT ”CORE”-LESSNESS is a buffer from the two opposite zoning areas nearby: the massive developments on the north, and the low-density structures in the south. Through its scale and the use of the corner, FAT ”CORE”-LESSNESS tries to wall off the low density area from any big developments by using the straight wall, normally present between the lots, in the exterior. At the same time, the perforated facades normally seen from the street are used inside looking towards the low density zone, providing acess and visibility from that side, while blocking them from the developped areas.
