LOCATION

MAP

Peachester is a small town located on the eastern slopes of the Conondale Range in the spectacularly picturesque Sunshine Coast hinterland. Named when the town was surveyed in 1888 and it is thought that the name refers to peach trees which were growing at the river crossing. A public hall was built at the town in 1889 and was home to the Peachester School when it started in 1892. Early industries included dairying, timber felling for Grigor’s sawmill and a case factory for fruit growers in the 1920s and post-World War II years. This property is located just 2.3 kilometres to the local convenience store; Peachester has a local school only 3 minutes away, and the townships of Beerwah and Woodford with their amenities are less than a 10 minute drive. With Brisbane only an hour away, this could also make a delightful

3

weekend country retreat for an urban professional. Peachester’s popularity continues to grow as increased numbers of people are seeking easy care small acreage parcels away from suburbia, yet still within reasonable proximity of larger towns. As work/ life balance is the ‘buzz phrase’ of the new millennium there is a trend towards ‘lifestyle’ properties that provide their owners with privacy, peace and tranquillity, framed by natural beauty...somewhere to sit back and smell the roses. Peachester offers this good old-fashioned idyllic country lifestyle; whilst the pace is slower, it is still very much part of the bigger Sunshine Coast region. One could say, it provides the ‘best of both worlds’. Welcome to Peachester!

PROPERTY DETAILS FARM DESCRIPTION 15 Acre Farm is a Certified Organic farm that was established by the current owners in 2012. The property is certified with Australian Certified Organic and as such uses the highly recognisable ‘Bud Logo’ on its packaging and advertising. The farm grows organic blueberries, has a small orchard of pomegranates and has grown organic ginger. The farm is easily managed by the current husband and wife team. THE BLUEBERRIES 500 (approx.) OP11’s Ridley – Highbush early fruiting variety that produces large fruit and attract a premium price due to the timing of the fruit. Fruiting occurs in September but the past 2 years have seen an additional crop during the off-season in May/June. 1000 (approx.) Rabbiteye’s- Varieties Powder Blue & Britewell 50/50 mix. These bushes are in full production and fruit over the Summer months, November – January. 500 (approx.) Rabbiteye’s- newly planted in 2018. Some fruit expected in the 2019/20 season with full production in the coming seasons. As the fruit is certified organic a premium price is obtained. The farm supplies to organic wholesalers predominantly in Sydney but also sends surplus fruit to Melbourne and Brisbane. The wholesalers used are reliable and pay weekly. Fruit is transported to Fruithaul, (Caboolture depot) by vehicle then transported by them to the wholesalers for market days, either Monday or Thursday. The 2017-18 season produced in excess of 13000 punnets. The 2018-19 season has had fewer punnets produced (approx. 6000) due to the hard pruning received. 2019/20 should see fruit volumes increase to previous year’s levels and will continue to increase once new plantings are in full production. THE POMEGRANATES A small, experimental plot of pomegranates will be in production in 2019/20. This is, as yet an un tapped market for organics so if premium fruit is produced it should be well accepted in the market place. These won’t set the world on fire but it is hoped they will provide a little extra turnover. THE GINGER Organic ginger has been grown successfully on the farm. CATTLE The property can run approx 12 head all year round due to the highly fertile river flats.
