Locals Rally To Support 25th Anniversary The Women’s Pro division will be back in 2016, thanks to the generosity of Ray White Noosa. The Women’s Pro attracted surfers from eight nations in 2015, including Brazil, Japan, New Zealand, The UK and France, as well as a strong home contingent. The USA was represented in force, with the all-American final being won in spectacular style by Californian, Karina Rozunko. Ray White Noosa provided a small financial gesture this year, offering Noosa Malibu Club member, Lucy Cantori, sponsorship for the Women’s Open division. With their kind support and vocal encouragement through every heat, Lucy did them proud, making it all the way to the final. “I used to deliver coffees to Ray White and got talking to them about my surfing,” explains Lucy of the partnership.“When the Noosa Festival of Surfing 2015 came around they asked if they could sponsor me and I was stoked!
They paid off my new longboard then set me up with a couple of bikinis, some beach towels and a couple of shirts. All of the staff also came down and watched me surf every heat, which was awesome and probably one of the reasons I made the final!” Inspired by this small role in 2015, Ray White Noosa has joined the Noosa Festival of Surfing 2016 to sponsor the Ray White Noosa Women’s Pro. While the ladies have provided a superb display of surfing prowess for many years, a significant influx has elevated the Women’s Pro to a new level in recent times and the festival’s continued hosting of a women’s pro division has been testament to the ever-increasing talent from around the world. “The division really brings out the best in all of us,” says Lucy. “We all see what each other is doing and lift our game because of it. Having a professional women’s division right at my home break is awesome. It gives us local girls a chance to surf against the best from across the world and also make some awesome foreign friends!”
