SIXTH FORM BULLETIN – Week Beginning 28th March 2011 SENIOR BOYS FOOTBALL For the first time in 15 years the Senior Boys’ football team have reached the District Cup final, which is an amazing achievement. They beat St Mary's, Cheshunt, 3­2 on penalties. Too many heroes to mention. Please congratulate them all. Please show your support next Friday at Cheshunt Football Club, 4.00pm Kick v Broxbourne for the final. SWIMMING SESSIONS Would students who have been given a swimming session to cover please make sure that they turn up. We are only asking for one hour from each student and you can take school work to the poolside. If you are unable to make the time slot given can you let me know as soon as possible in order to find a replacement. This is vitally important as it is a Health and Safety issue. EPQ Exhibition – Wednesday 30th March 17:00­19:00 in the Sixth Form Common Room Your Sixth Form colleagues who have undertaken an Extended Project invite you to attend the EPQ Exhibition. They have been busy all year planning, researching and writing up a project on a topic of their choice, including: ‘What are the long term effects of the BP oil spill?’, ‘What impact did the French Revolution have on fashion?’, ‘Where have the bees gone?’ and ‘Real life escapism: where do we draw the line?’ They would relish the opportunity to share with you details about the project process and their research findings. STUDENT FINANCE The Student Loans Company (SLC) has made some improvements to the student finance application process, which opened last week, which should make it quicker and easier to apply. Because of a new arrangement with HM Revenue & Customs, the majority of new students applying for finance dependent on their household income will not have to send financial evidence. Compulsory attendance for all This is an excellent opportunity for you to talk to the author of two of your core texts who has until recently been the chief examiner for A Level Psychology for Edexcel. She will cover Unit 4 issues and debates and essay writing skills with you, and for the last half an hour will go over the Unit 3 paper for any of you who need to retake (you'll know by the 10th!). Think of questions to ask and get them to me early ­ I can put them to her before she comes and she may be able to include them in her delivery ­ or simply answer it straight!
